I have two recent examples:

  1. A friend - close friend - who is a raving feminist most of the time (good start) recently got together with a guy who is married. They relationship 'overlapped' with the marriage for a few months until he finally moved out of the martial home and straight into hers. Shit behaviour to the wife by both IMHO. But this friend is now ranting about the STBX wife how she is such a bitch, a psycho, how her bf was so unhappy, no sex etc etc. She has never met the STBXW. This clever, well-educated feminist friend has just lapped it all up form him and is now spouting it to me, not stopping to question the fact that there might be two sides to it etc. And now she's predictably telling her new bf he must get STBX wife to sell the house, reduce his maintenance payments etc. Unbelievable. So fucking cliched. FFS grow up you stupid woman!!!!!!
  1. A not so feminist friend came round for a chat last week. Told me how 'a good baby group friend' from when their kids was young recently got divorced. Told me all about the breakup, telling me that this woman 'did nothing' in the marriage. That her husband (an alpha male) worked all hours and provided so well for her, and yet she couldn't - yes couldn't even be bothered(!) to put a meal on the table for him in the evenings. No meal on the table, no washing done, no house cleaned despite the fact that SHE DIDN"T WORK (oh, sorry, she had a new baby at the time, forgot to mention that MINOR FUCKING FACT!). FFS!! This woman (the one telling me) is mid-30s with a career and a daughter. Jesus fucking wept!!! that is the attitude of a well-educated career woman with a daughter. Scary!

What hope is there for the future of woman kind with this sort shit being spouted from 'feminists'.

FFFFFS!

Rant over. Excuse the language. Feeling sweary. Must try harder, what poor English! ;) But you get the gist.

Please can you give me examples of more uplifting examples of behaviour from women who do support other women better than this to GIVE ME HOPE!!!

Thanks! PH

I don’t like groups of women for this reason. I hate bitching, back biting and fake people and females in groups seem to attract this kind of behaviour more often than not.

Most of my friends are male. My only female friends are people who think exactly like me - ie, If you haven’t said whatever you’re saying directly to the person first, I don’t want to hear it.

Just tell them you’re not interested in hearing their bitching. It’s worked for me.

AstonishedFemalePersonator · 21/03/2019 14:26

A good start would be not referring to other women as "bitches".

Hedgehogblues · 21/03/2019 14:33

None of my female friends are like this but ok

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 21/03/2019 14:38

Its been my experience that men can be just as back stabby and mean

The vast vast majority (if not all thinking about it) of my friends wouldnt do anything like this

You seem to be a smidge fixated on feminists in your posts, maybe you should distance yourself from unpleasant people. It can't be very relaxing for you

^^This.

Some women are just not great people, they make bad decisions or hurt others, or don’t have empathy for the feelings of those they impact. But I wouldn’t say this is uniquely a woman or feminist issue, I have known plenty of men who have also slagged people off, or do things that are harmful or cruel.
Feminism generally is about equality, supporting other women and giving them a leg up where we can. Not all women who claim to be feminists act in the best interests of their fellow women, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t thousands of others doing great, positive things. Think about women who run domestic violence charities, or mentor young women from poorer backgrounds, or women bosses who change work policies to help working mums work more flexibly.

On a personal level, I have a solid group of wonderful female friends around me who support and uplift me, listen to my problems and offer helpful advice. When I went through a bad break up a few years ago one of my friends drove over with dinner and sat with me all evening. Another is very career minded and helped work on my CV with me when I was job hunting. Years ago a friend of mine had a miscarriage which devastated her, and one night a few weeks later she was travelling home late when out of nowhere she was overcome by her loss and burst into tears on her train. A fellow woman passenger asked if she was alright, and everything came tumbling out, and this kind woman sat with my friend and listened, hugged her and held her hand.

Don’t let two isolated incidents write off half the population.

Yanbu to even use the word bitches. Vile use of the word from a women onto other women. What an ironic post.

Anique105 · 21/03/2019 14:57

I'll say this again and again. Men are the better species. Have had different experiences through work, friendships, life in general and always had the nastiest times from women.

MorrisZapp · 21/03/2019 14:59

Are you one of these people who thinks that women are responsible for preserving the marriages of others? It's an age old double moral standard and the opposite of feminism.

Women aren't responsible for men's behaviour.

Almost all criminals are men, particularly in terms of violent and sex crime. I'd say men were not the better sex. Last time I checked, we were all the same species. But hey, let's worry about a bit of bitching (which both sexes do by the way) when there is an endless epidemic of male violence.

AstonishedFemalePersonator · 21/03/2019 15:09

Yes. If I had to take my chances, I would do so with women.

ghostyslovesheets · 21/03/2019 15:11

You lost me at ‘bitches’ try practicing what you preach

Sparklesocks · 21/03/2019 15:42

Also in my experience it’s mostly women who give up their public transport seats for pregnant women, a lot of men suddenly fall asleep!

PIPERHELLO · 21/03/2019 22:46

@SPARKLESOCKS thank you, that post has some lovely examples.

Yeah, you're losing your audience with the use of "bitches".

It is a fucking hideously sexist stereotype that groups of women are inevitably "bitchy" and mean/back stabbing.

Stawp · 21/03/2019 22:51

Dump friend 1.

Try leading by example...the post really is a bit ironic.

You’re so completely right, OP. You never get individual men being horrible to each other, or stabbing each other in the back, or anything like that. They really are just... better than us.

pontiouspilates · 21/03/2019 22:58

This is just not my experience. Perhaps your vibe attracts your tribe OP.

Smotheroffive · 21/03/2019 22:58

To wish women would stop being such bitches to other women

Mmmm...me too..irony much Hmm

Marchinupandownagain · 21/03/2019 23:00

Not only did you give yourself away with the "bitches", but the constant snidey references to feminism make it clear you just want to have a pop at other women and an excuse to be sexist. Knock it off, do.

elQuintoConyo · 21/03/2019 23:06

NAWALT.

Or something. You have some shit friends.

AnyFucker · 21/03/2019 23:07

You missed a trick there, op

The term is feminist bitches

Bubblegumgal · 21/03/2019 23:07

I agree with you OP. I see misogyny everywhere. MN isn’t as pro-fem as you’d think either. So many ridiculous double standards here & expectations on women (in particular when they become mothers) simply because they’re women, is awful. I, for one, am tired of feeling pigeon holed because I have a vagina.

PIPERHELLO · 21/03/2019 23:09

@bubblegum - yes!! Well said!
