I have two recent examples:

  1. A friend - close friend - who is a raving feminist most of the time (good start) recently got together with a guy who is married. They relationship 'overlapped' with the marriage for a few months until he finally moved out of the martial home and straight into hers. Shit behaviour to the wife by both IMHO. But this friend is now ranting about the STBX wife how she is such a bitch, a psycho, how her bf was so unhappy, no sex etc etc. She has never met the STBXW. This clever, well-educated feminist friend has just lapped it all up form him and is now spouting it to me, not stopping to question the fact that there might be two sides to it etc. And now she's predictably telling her new bf he must get STBX wife to sell the house, reduce his maintenance payments etc. Unbelievable. So fucking cliched. FFS grow up you stupid woman!!!!!!
  1. A not so feminist friend came round for a chat last week. Told me how 'a good baby group friend' from when their kids was young recently got divorced. Told me all about the breakup, telling me that this woman 'did nothing' in the marriage. That her husband (an alpha male) worked all hours and provided so well for her, and yet she couldn't - yes couldn't even be bothered(!) to put a meal on the table for him in the evenings. No meal on the table, no washing done, no house cleaned despite the fact that SHE DIDN"T WORK (oh, sorry, she had a new baby at the time, forgot to mention that MINOR FUCKING FACT!). FFS!! This woman (the one telling me) is mid-30s with a career and a daughter. Jesus fucking wept!!! that is the attitude of a well-educated career woman with a daughter. Scary!

What hope is there for the future of woman kind with this sort shit being spouted from 'feminists'.

FFFFFS!

Rant over. Excuse the language. Feeling sweary. Must try harder, what poor English! ;) But you get the gist.

Please can you give me examples of more uplifting examples of behaviour from women who do support other women better than this to GIVE ME HOPE!!!

Thanks! PH

The men in the OP sound vile.

The women are not nice, but the people who did the vile things.

Strange you posted about them.

Funkaccino · 22/03/2019 10:13

MrsPinkCockI don’t like groups of women for this reason. I hate bitching, back biting and fake people and females in groups seem to attract this kind of behaviour more often than not.

Right. Hmm

Funkaccino · 22/03/2019 10:14

Rake shaming 😁

I'm sure there was a bit Pride and Prejudice but no, you dont tend to see it about much anymore.

CaptainSquirrel · 22/03/2019 10:18

Dohangovers I also witness 'whipping boy' behaviour within groups of men, in the name of bants and laughs. For example, one guy I know, who counts his group of friends as the closest people to him, has no idea that the rest of them spent years pissing against his house whenever they got together for nights out.

WhenWillItAllEnd · 22/03/2019 10:20

I don't understand this point at all

Why is it ok to call a man an ugly little prick ? it's even ok to mock the president of the US for having tiny hands, the implication being he has a small cock as well. When women suffer any comments on their appearance even if that is just choice of clothes as opposed to some comment on her anatomy, people are up in arms.

I get that you think men are not affected by it in the same way, however if you don't like women being called bitches then don't call men pricks, wankers, cocks and etc.

53rdWay · 22/03/2019 10:21

“She should have a meal on the table for her husband, he’s worked hard all day and all she’s done is look after the baby” = internalised misogyny.

“Yes women are terrible for that kind of bitchy sniping attitude, all MY friends are men” = also internalised misogyny.

Funkaccino · 22/03/2019 10:23

I hate women. Spend all my time with men who are way cooler.

then post about it on one of the largest female populated forums in the UK

ZacharyQuacks · 22/03/2019 10:54

@When

"practically everything that has benefited the human race was conceived and produced or built by men

Such absolute bollocks.

It was a woman who discovered the dominant elements in the universe are hydrogen and helium. If it had been a man he would be a household name.

The double helix structure - based on discoveries by a woman.
Advances in modern nursing ? Women
Antibiotics? Woman
Stab proof and bullet proof vest? Woman
First computer program? Woman
X-ray technology and radiotherapy - woman
Basis for radar and wi-if technology - woman.
Proved particle symmetry exists in nature - woman.

This is off the top of my head.

And this is against a background of women being unable to access education/higher education or receive degrees until the last 70 years (in the UK).

Your ignorance and inability to use Google, proves nothing.

ZacharyQuacks · 22/03/2019 11:03

@When

you think men are not affected by it in the same way, however if you don't like women being called bitches then don't call men pricks, wankers, cocks and etc.

Bitch is a female dog, it's comparing a woman to another, lowly species. It's also inherently more degrading and violent than calling a man "a dick,
Prick, cock" etc because women have always been defined by and shamed in relation to their sexuality in ways that men have not. A promiscuous man is celebrated but a promiscuous woman is not and is seen as tainted and less valuable than a man would be. I hate these kind of absolute equality arguments that ignore the whole historical and present day systematic abuse and oppression of women and assume that because a tiny minority of predominantly white, middle and upper class, straight women in the UK have some measure of equality, that in fact women are equal everywhere. They aren't.

Vulpine · 22/03/2019 11:07

And also women have been oppressed and not educated for thousands of years rather than making scientific breakthroughs or painting on ceilings in the Sistine chapel.

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 22/03/2019 11:10

I would like to add Emilie du Chatelet to ZacharyQuack's list. Translated Newton into French, and proved that the energy of motion was a square function, something Newton hadn't managed.
Also Julie d'Aubigny, for services to opera, duelling and bisexuality.

formerbabe · 22/03/2019 11:12

I'm not one of those women who prefer the company of men...I only have female friends. However, I find most women very hard work. I think women overall are more emotionally intelligent so they analyse every word of a conversation and all the subtle social interactions in a way that men don't.... therefore, one wrong move or thoughtless word will forever be remembered. I have two friends who fell out over a misunderstanding over a text organising a night out. A 30year friendship gone. It was the sort of thing that if it had happened between my dh and a mate of his, it would not have been an issue.

NutElla5x · 22/03/2019 11:24

You hate women bitching about women and yet here you are bitching about women. Lol you couldn't make it up.

CalmDownPacino · 22/03/2019 11:36

Thank god When is here, defending the men.

WhenWillItAllEnd · 22/03/2019 12:41

You are a mystery to me Zachary. You seem to be saying that women created the modern world and everything in it in equal measure to men, or at least to the extent that any claims "men" are far more responible for it and the creation of and advancement of every discipline, are "bollocks". So women are not oppressed and are every bit as responsible for the modern world as men ?

WhenWillItAllEnd · 22/03/2019 12:47

...and to pick one small example from your list, the idea that women are as responsible for the invention of and technological development of computers and programming languages is absurd.

What I gather is that it is ok to use gendered insults against men and to mock them about the size of their penis, but women should be off limits. You often hear incompetent men described as donkeys should that now also be verboten ?

ZacharyQuacks · 22/03/2019 13:17

Nice strawmen there @When.

My response was to your statement:

practically everything that has benefited the human race was conceived and produced or built by men

This is demonstrably false. The modern world has been built largely by men, the good and the bad (including almost every war and genocide). But you can't claim everything "that has benefited the human race was conceived and produced or built by men" is true, because it is not. Women have produced an incredible number of outstanding achievements that have advanced the knowledge and condition of the human race. Their achievements are more remarkable because they have often come about despite the barriers to education, employment and recognition that women historically faced (and still do face today in much of the world).

Ada Lovelace is widely acknowledged as the first computer programmer. And considering such knowledge is iterative, there is nothing "absurd" about suggesting that a woman was responsible for the creation of computer programming. Plenty of women computer programmers around today, and women pioneers in the development of computer programmes and technology. You can easily Google them if you can be bothered. Its not my job to educate you.

I call women dicks too. Calling a man a dick or a donkey, or mocking the size of his penis, is not the same as the violence and misogyny inherent in calling a woman a whore/slut/bitch etc. HTH.

ZacharyQuacks · 22/03/2019 13:28

@Disgrace excellent additions.

I would also add Aphra Benn - contemporary of Shakespeare and one of the first notable female playwrights and Bessie Coleman, pioneering black female aviator.

@When - because I'm feeling generous here is a link:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_computing

Look at that, a woman doing a man's work for him Grin.

WhenWillItAllEnd · 22/03/2019 13:32

I don't need to Google them thanks, as a female software engineer myself I'm well aware that all the innovations that lead to the development of modern programming languages and those languages themselves were created by men. It is simply untrue to claim that women are as responsible for the C programming language (to pick one) as a whole host of faceless men whose names and work you have no knowledge of because your actual interest in the field is I'll bet, nil.

So mocking a man's genitals is nothing like as bad as saying a woman is being bitchy. We:ll have to disagree about that.

TheGoddessFrigg · 22/03/2019 13:39

Look out the window wherever you are saying and everything you are more or less will have been put there by men for a purpose conceived by men

Look out the window. Every single human being you can see was birthed by a female. How amazing is that?!

Yabbers · 22/03/2019 13:49

Starting a thread about women being unkind to other woman, making your point by being unkind to two other women.
🤔

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 22/03/2019 13:53

Yes women can be pretty nasty to each other - you only need to look at some online communities like Instagram etc some of the stuff that happens on there is batshit and it's hard to believe it's done by grown adults, and it's mainly women. Or the mum cliques etc

But then again 98% of sexual offences are carried out by men and so is the vast majority of crime generally so.... Its swings and roundabouts really isn't it?

BarbieJellyBabyBrain · 22/03/2019 13:54

Look out the window wherever you are saying and everything you are more or less will have been put there by men for a purpose conceived by men

And you think that's because men are just 'better' than women?

Bless!

😂

WhenWillItAllEnd · 22/03/2019 14:05

And you think that's because men are just 'better' than women?

Actually, I don't think that at all. I raised it as example of the sort of thinking the OP is engaging in. Men are xxx and women are xxx statements are silly is my point.

Funkaccino · 22/03/2019 14:09

Is giving birth to the entire population in times of war and squalor and poverty and then feeding it with your own body not an achievement compared to inventing the traffic light?

Hmm.
