AIBU to think that any coverage of her disappearance is a good thing. I watched two episodes of the Netflix programme and think that if it were to bring her back into the spotlight, then surely it’s worthwhile? I’m on my own in that opinion here in our house.

There’s an identical active thread on this

CallMeRachel · 16/03/2019 18:00

Yes but the parents haven't approved it. They didn't want it released and have legal counsel going through it for any perceived slights against them.

The last thread about this was zapped...this will go the same way.

mumineedawee · 16/03/2019 18:01

Oops, sorry.

killpop · 16/03/2019 18:03

The last thread was deleted because people insisted on speculating about parental guilt rather than the documentary.

I watched it all yesterday (binge much?) and actually found it really interesting. I have/had my opinions and speculations on what happened, but I think the documentary did a fairly good job of showing from different perspectives and covering all angles.

BarbarianMum · 16/03/2019 18:04

Why do you think coverage of her disappearance is a good thing?

mumineedawee · 16/03/2019 18:05

I suppose that I was thinking about how old, unsolved cases have been solved years later due to advances in technology, etc.

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 16/03/2019 18:06

I'm only on the first episode but seeing the layout I can semi see why they thought leaving them sleeping was a good idea!

MothersNameIsMary · 16/03/2019 18:06

1, 2, 3...

AnnieMay100 · 16/03/2019 18:07

Agree if they wanted her found surely lots of coverage and knowledge being put out to the public could help bring her home?

Decormad38 · 16/03/2019 18:08

Its called Madeleine documentary and the thread is still active

mumineedawee · 16/03/2019 18:08

That was what was on my mind.

These threads very rarely last long.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 16/03/2019 18:09

Bring her make into the spotlight?

She has never been out of it. Never in my whole life have I known any missing person adult or child have so much coverage.

Gth1234 · 16/03/2019 18:11

I watched two episodes, and amazed they could get so much out of it.

I must say, I thought the location of the holiday accommodation was quite isolated. They seemed to be implying that loads of people would have noticed things going on, but in my experience, holidaymakers don't sit on their balconies, and side streets are quiet places. You even had to go outside the apartment complex to get to the accommodation.

Personally. I think leaving children alone in a hotel room inside a hotel is rather different to leaving them alone in that accommodation.

youarenotkiddingme · 16/03/2019 18:12

I was wary of watching it and decided I'd stop if it became accusationary .

However I've found it balanced so far, lots of different people putting forward statements and in actual fact it's been more damning towards the PJ.

youarenotkiddingme · 16/03/2019 18:13

Can someone link other active thread please?

Foxmuffin · 16/03/2019 18:15

Found it slow, but interesting. Wouldn’t have preserved had I not been sat on the sofa heavily preggars working my way through Netflix!

BarbarianMum · 16/03/2019 18:16

Yes im sure Europe's full of people who have some crucial information about Madeleine McCann's whereabouts but haven't actually heard she's missing. Hmm Come on, its just another chance for people to enjoy the thrill of someone else's tragedy.

Dard · 16/03/2019 18:17

Watching it ultimately they are responsible they left their children not just one night every night I dont understand how dismissed the dogs and why wouldn't they have taken younger children?
Millionaire and son especially just odd

MothersNameIsMary · 16/03/2019 18:18

OP you can't mention MM on mumsnet. Ever.

LoisWilkerson1 · 16/03/2019 18:18

I'm two episodes in and I think it's a shame the police didn't move a bit quicker to set up road blocks and track down known paedophiles in the area. I feel nothing but sympathy for the McCann family.

Never in my whole life have I known any missing person adult or child have so much coverage.

Surely there can never be enough if it helps to solve the case.

PegLegAntoine · 16/03/2019 18:26

I don’t see why we can’t now, if there’s a whole series on the subject? Things have changed now surely.
