AIBU to think that any coverage of her disappearance is a good thing. I watched two episodes of the Netflix programme and think that if it were to bring her back into the spotlight, then surely it’s worthwhile? I’m on my own in that opinion here in our house.

We do not have freedom of speech. The McCanns don't like people talking about it.

bigchris · 16/03/2019 18:27

Tinker bell doesn't mean we can't talk about it, she just means threads often get deleted because people say slanderous things I think

quencher · 16/03/2019 18:27

Before this thread goes poof. I know that if my child went missing in the middle of the night, I would not go bed at 4am. I guess everyone deals with things differently. I have found the first few episodes eye opening. I didn't know the complex was that big or the distance from the restaurant to the rooms.

NameChanger22 · 16/03/2019 18:29

Bigchris - There was also another much longer thread about it yesterday that disappeared.

quencher · 16/03/2019 18:29

Tinker bell doesn't mean we can't talk about it, she just means threads often get deleted because people say slanderous things I think nah! What they mean is that you can't criticise the parents. You can't speculate no can you have any view which goes against what the parents want you to believe. One way or no way.

MothersNameIsMary · 16/03/2019 18:31

Why am I not allowed to talk about this on here?

You're just not. Mumsnet never allow anyone to talk about MM.

We do not have freedom of speech.

Not on mumsnet about MM.

TurquoiseDress · 16/03/2019 18:32

I don't have Netflix and would definitely watch this if I did

It would be good to cover the case again, give it more publicity, MM would be coming up to 16 now

If she is still alive- and so far there has been no evidence to suggest she isn't- she will maybe start to question her background/things that don't make sense in her life etc and may be looking for answers

This is all rather far fetched from me, but I really wish there could be a conclusion to this- for her parents and siblings.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 16/03/2019 18:33

Really @Bugsymalonemumof2?? I'd always presumed the apartment was closer - seeing the actual layout on the documentary I think it was an even stupider idea

TurquoiseDress · 16/03/2019 18:33

@mellongoose

I agree that there can never be enough, if it helps solve a case or even lead to find that missing person

Soubriquet · 16/03/2019 18:34

Come over to the telly addicts page

We are discussing it there and no one is implicating the McCanns

RussellSprout · 16/03/2019 18:36

So long as they don't give any more bloody public money to this case.

Not when they are cutting budgets to schools, police etc left right and centre.

Dard · 16/03/2019 18:36

I don't think she will ever be found sadly so a very expensive tapas.
I read the Portuguese policeman book seemed quiet level. They should and group have been done for child neglect the babies didn't wake up with all screaming.
Poor Ben Needham mum had no help

Before this thread goes I will tell you what happened.

How could you possibly know that happened? Hmm

EachandEveryone · 16/03/2019 18:39

Ive just put it on i dont know how long ill last.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 16/03/2019 18:40

And because of your bullshit made up theory Teller the thread will go poof. Twat.

MothersNameIsMary · 16/03/2019 18:41

Because it wasn't going to go poof anyway... Not.

HerRoyalFattyness · 16/03/2019 18:43

I actually agree with TellerTuesday4EVAs theory.
But thats all it is. A theory, a suspicion. I can't prove or disprove anything, but thats what i believe happened to MM.

Ive watched the entire series. There's a few things that just make me go "hmmm... really?"
The police did massively fuck up to be fair.
But so did all of the adults involved in leaving babies alone in apartments.

TellerTuesday4EVA · 16/03/2019 18:45

@IStillMissBlockbuster call me what you like... you're the same if you think this thread wasn't coming down anyway... we've seen it enough times previously 😒

Puzzledandpissedoff · 16/03/2019 18:50

What they mean is that you can't criticise the parents. You can't speculate nor can you have any view which goes against what the parents want you to believe

Maybe nobody will get to answer before the thread goes, but does anyone actually know why this is?

Is it down to worry that there'll be yet another lawsuit from the parents?

Yadatimestwo · 16/03/2019 18:51

.

HotpotLawyer · 16/03/2019 18:51

Such bolocks about freedom of speech.

  1. MN is a parenting website and has policies about the spirit of support for parents, and that includes the McCanns
  2. MN always delete lurid speculation and unfounded accusatory theories of legal cases
LuvSmallDogs · 16/03/2019 18:51

My dad’s always gone for your theory TellerTuesday. He also says that if it was a council house mum who nipped to the corner shop for fags and her kid “got taken” her life wouldn’t be worth living.
