To only have £100 until 28th Feb

As the thread title says, I only have £100 until the 28th of February, when I get paid. I've paid all my bills, rent and travel for this month - the only thing I need to buy is about five more days worth of food (I have a load stocked up from a big shop earlier in the month, so I'm pretty much okay on that front). I live in London with my DP and we have no DC.

AIBU to think the next two weeks will be a struggle and also extremely boring?

And your point is ... ?

clairemcnam · 12/02/2019 19:00

Seriously? Is this a joke?

VanillaSauce · 12/02/2019 19:01

You'll survive.

HolesinTheSoles · 12/02/2019 19:01

Well you won't be going out much but that sounds plenty to get by on. If you have an oyster card paid for there's plenty of free stuff to do in London.

MustBeAWeasly · 12/02/2019 19:01

Dd just started nursery so I have nothing left until the 28th of Feb we have to make the food we have last. I'd quite like £100

hazell42 · 12/02/2019 19:02

Lucky you. I have 38p to last me til Monday. Do I win?

Livedandlearned · 12/02/2019 19:02

Here is your medal op Star Hmm

Bananadrama99 · 12/02/2019 19:02

Why would it be a joke? Confused

Honestly OP, so you have everything you need, and your wants are that you don’t want to be bored for 2 weeks Hmm

Honestly think outside the box you don’t need money to have fun, are you always this unimaginative?

Ffsnosexallowed · 12/02/2019 19:04

Ffs - it's not a race to the bottom! If I only had £100 for the next 2 weeks I'd be really worried, so I sympathize op.

redyawn · 12/02/2019 19:04

I'm often in this sort of situation (usually worse). It's ok unless some kind of emergency comes up.... which it often does....

Queenofthestress · 12/02/2019 19:04

Do you know how much I have, with two dc, low gas and low food? £40 quid. Yup, 40 fucking quid until the 1st of march so screw you

ThereWillBeAdequateFood · 12/02/2019 19:05

You’ll be fine. 2 people will be fine with £100 for food over 2 weeks

SoyDora · 12/02/2019 19:05

£100 is enough for 5 days worth of food.

clairemcnam · 12/02/2019 19:05

Because it is more than many people have. You are basically saying after say you have spent £20 on food, you have £80 for two adults for 2 weeks discretionary spend.
Sure you won't be eating out at Michelin star restaurants, but it is hardly a big deal.
You will still be able to go out a few times in the week, say to the pub, plus use your travel card to go to free things like museums or on walks.

sparklefarts · 12/02/2019 19:05

oh OP face palm

People think it's a joke, because that is absolutely in no way a money problem

Bananadrama99 · 12/02/2019 19:05

Oh crap, my travel card actually ends a week today, so I have to buy another nine days of travel before getting paid too.

OP posts:
Ainba · 12/02/2019 19:05

£100 with only 5 days of food to buy ans all bills paid, I'd love that right now!

hazell42 · 12/02/2019 19:05

You have paid your Bill's, rent and travel. You have food. Your moaning about boredom is crass. That's why it is a joke.

formerbabe · 12/02/2019 19:05

It's doable but I agree, not much fun.

Amanduh · 12/02/2019 19:06

You’ve got £100 spare spending money outside any outgoings to last you two weeks? Also, why would you be worried?
My heart bleeds 🙄

sparklefarts · 12/02/2019 19:06

(Unless of course something comes up like boiler breaking)

iwantavuvezela · 12/02/2019 19:06

If boring is what you are afraid of then you need to learn to access all that London has to offer, so much you can see and do for free. I can only presume that you are sayso no that £100 left for a social life is boring - as everything else is offered. . Use this time to broaden your perspective on how to entertain yourself.

clairemcnam · 12/02/2019 19:06

But this is mumsnet so there will be people on large incomes who think this is being poor. It really is not.

Houseonahill · 12/02/2019 19:06

I don't want to minimise because your clearly worried but I have £100 till then to feed me and a toddler and I'm not at all worried in fact £200 A month is my food budget and I wouldn't say we go without anything. Aldi is your friend.
