To only have £100 until 28th Feb

As the thread title says, I only have £100 until the 28th of February, when I get paid. I've paid all my bills, rent and travel for this month - the only thing I need to buy is about five more days worth of food (I have a load stocked up from a big shop earlier in the month, so I'm pretty much okay on that front). I live in London with my DP and we have no DC.

AIBU to think the next two weeks will be a struggle and also extremely boring?

£100 is my normal 2 week food budget for 2 adults. Of course you can manage!

Mmmmbrekkie · 12/02/2019 19:07

Why would this be a joke?!

Sounds excruciatingly tight to me.

Feb is not a great month so not missing out on much. Just lots of TV, blankets when at home. And lots of walks with flasks if tea at the weekends

See it as c hallenge! Good luck!

formerbabe · 12/02/2019 19:07

It's more than some people have but no need to make out that the op is some rich bitch rubbing her wealth in anyone's face!

Lockheart · 12/02/2019 19:08

What exactly do you think you're being unreasonable about?

clairemcnam · 12/02/2019 19:08

And I have a very active social life and spend way way less than you have for this fortnight having fun. Especially in London. Make sandwiches, take a flask, and explore.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 12/02/2019 19:08

I thought London was this utopia with loads of free stuff to do so why will you be bored?

clairemcnam · 12/02/2019 19:09

formerbabe Anyone who thinks this is poverty really does not have a clue.

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 12/02/2019 19:09

I’ve got £58.82 to last me till the 23, plus three kids to feed and entertain during half term.

Bigonesmallone3 · 12/02/2019 19:10

So £100 of disposable income for just over two weeks..
Sounds pretty easy seen as everything else is covered

JustHereForThePooStories · 12/02/2019 19:10

I suppose the real question here is for you buy 100 x £1 biscuits, or one £100 biscuit?

AnneLovesGilbert · 12/02/2019 19:10

This is not an AIBU. You have no point.

Bananadrama99 · 12/02/2019 19:11

"formerbabe Anyone who thinks this is poverty really does not have a clue."

At what point did I say this is poverty Claire? Hmm

You live in London - if you can't find something to do in London that's free (or almost free) then your not looking hard enough.
I'm sure you can have five cheap food days.

ShabbyNat · 12/02/2019 19:15

I have £25 to buy food for 3 adults, petrol, Virgin media bill to pay for(will probably get cut off for a few days!) & god knows what else until my wages on the last day of the monthSadShockSad

mayathebeealldaylong · 12/02/2019 19:17

£100 for two weeks that's terrible. All the missed glasses of wine, coffees out and No Valentine's Day evening out.
I couldn't do it, keep strong OP

Yougotdis · 12/02/2019 19:17

London is the land of free entertainment. You will not be bored at all

formerbabe · 12/02/2019 19:17

I don't think anyone's saying its poverty. I was just making the point that although it may be more money than many people have, the op is hardly rolling in cash and it is still a tightish budget.

ssd · 12/02/2019 19:17

Bloody hell poor you being bored for 2 weeks

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 12/02/2019 19:18

There's loads of free stuff to do in London.

And as far as socialising, invite a few batches of friends over for pizza/chili/games and nachos... doesn't have to cost much at all.

Thesearmsofmine · 12/02/2019 19:19

Have a fun time walking around the city, go to museums and galleries, go window shopping, visit the parks.

Powerbunting · 12/02/2019 19:20

Yabu to say it will be a struggle to feed 2 people for 5 days out of 100 pounds. As all other costs are covered that is your only cost.

It might be a bit boring. Depends on what you class as boring. I'd be able to entertain myself on that for 2 weeks. Especially if I usually had the sort of income and lifestyle that felt 100 pounds wasn't enough to keep me fed and entertained for a fortnight.

I understand there's lots of free stuff to do in that there London. Explore. Enjoy it.

Even if not, that's a lot of books films and museum entries. I have no idea of clubbing costs now that I am old, but you could surely stretch to entry on a cheaper night for you both.

Or there's always sex. That's fairly entertaining. And free

snowball28 · 12/02/2019 19:20

I’ve got £13.50 until 28th and still have £18 internet and £100 ultility to pay (which I will have to pay late) with two DC. Currently having to walk everywhere and will have to get some food shopping at some point 😕 I’d love £100 right now!

I’ve been off sick on SSP for January not bad with money by the way!

You’ll manage £100 is more than enough to last you.

snowball28 · 12/02/2019 19:22

Also it’s half term next week so that’ll be fun with zilch money 😬

Herculesfan · 12/02/2019 19:22

Mate, I’ve got £16 until the 22nd.

clairemcnam · 12/02/2019 19:24

I managed on £73 statutory sick pay for a month. That was bloody hard.
