I've always been skinny / slim but after 2 kids I've suddenly realised I'm not any more following a run in with the scales at the doctors surgery Confused.

I think I have a rare form of body dismorphia where I think I'm skinnier than I am Grin. No idea what size etc I am now. I'm 5ft 8 and 11st 4lb. I have previously always been around the 9.5 stone mark.

Finding it difficult to lose the baby weight after #2 as there is NO TIME! Any tips?

Bluntness100 · 22/01/2019 12:39

No idea on weight, I'm a size ten to twelve, and five eight. Prob closer to a twelve now due to holiday excesses.

I have the same problem as you, I think I'm skinnier than I am, so when I put on weight, I can't see it, and then bam one day I look in the mirror and think holy shit, how did that happen.

No tips. Just don't buy bigger clothes.

Blobby10 · 22/01/2019 12:44

5ft 9" and 12st 7lbs. I would LOVE to be 11st 4 but the last time I weighed that was just after my second child was born. I am aiming for 12 stones but my body doesn't like losing weight steadily or as a result of a diet - it seems to suddenly gain or lose in 5-7lbs bursts but then it stays off. So frustrating!

Blobby10 · 22/01/2019 12:45

Oh and I'm 50 this year if that makes a difference and my youngest child is now 18 so I cant say it's baby weight anymore - I'm just greedy Sad

No idea on weight (probably around 9st 5) 5ft 4 size 8-10, I'm 34 with 5 children (youngest is 2)

Im desperately trying to put on weight. Would love to be a size 10-12 and gain about a stone. Saw pics of myself a couple of days ago when I was exactly this and I looked great. Nice shiny hair, fuller face and body, just looked so much better in my appearance and much healthier 😔

peeblet · 22/01/2019 12:48

5ft7 10stone 7 lbs and aiming for 10.

M3lon · 22/01/2019 12:48

I'm almost the fattest I;ve ever been at the moment, 85 kilos. I got a size 10 top in sainsbury's the other day which I took as a sign of the end of days.

RiverTam · 22/01/2019 12:48

5'2
prob around 9st 12
size 12-14

I would definitely consider myself overweight (as well as being a short-arse I'm very petite build-wise) but I was this weight before DD.

All I can say is that stopping drinking, which I did 3 years ago, made not a jot of difference, probably because I replaced wine with chocolate...

newnameforthis7 · 22/01/2019 12:49

Oh FFS, not ANOTHER one of these ghastly threads, where everyone a size 10 or over is told that they are obese, and that 'I have been a size 2 for 45 years, despite having 9 kids, and I never went over a size 6 even at full term pregnancy!' Hmm

And then people ramble on about how LITTLE they eat, and how HEALTHY they eat, and how many hours a day they spend in the gym!

FFS! Hmm

BarryTheKestrel · 22/01/2019 12:49

Currently 12st 9 at 5ft 7. I'm a size 12/14 depending on the item of clothing.

Dc2 is 3 months old and now Christmas is over the diet has began. I'm most comfortable around 11st and around a size 10/12, I aim to be there by the summer.

newnameforthis7 · 22/01/2019 12:50

PMSL. You're taking the piss - obviously. Grin

ComtesseDeSpair · 22/01/2019 12:50

I’m 5’6”, about 8st 6lbs and I’m definitely not skinny.

Tips:
Keep track of what you eat. Everything. It’s really easy to underestimate what you eat because you aren’t remembering the little things which all add up.

Weight train. It tones you more than cardio (though cardio is also good for fitness) and muscle burns energy more efficiently.

ComtesseDeSpair · 22/01/2019 12:53

Another tip - don’t focus on dress size. It’s meaningless. There’s no standard across all shops and generally no correlation with actual weight.

RiverTam · 22/01/2019 12:53

Comtesse really? When I was 8st (5'2) I was definitely skinny - when I went to give blood my colleagues assumed I would be too thin to do so!

MaMisled · 22/01/2019 12:53

I lost 4.5st last year and love having the opportunity to type this......

8st 4lbs size 10.

PourFemme · 22/01/2019 12:54

OP, I suffer from the same condition (think I’m skinny but I’m not).

I’m 5’11 and pre DC I weighed 10 stone
5 lbs and was a size 10. All through my 30s (post D.C) I weighed 11stone-ish and was a 12. Last year I put on over a stone and have gone up to a 14. Seems to have happened since turning 40.

I have had to change the way I dress to accommodate my new chunkier frame, but it was hard, as n my head I’m still a 10-12. I’d like to lose a stone...but motivation is very low right now.

Tinty · 22/01/2019 12:55

5' 3" and 9.5 stone, size 8 - 10, used to be 8 stone size 6 - 8, 20 years ago, I would say I am a 10 - 12 in old sizing, I'm sure that when I was young I would have had to wear a size 12-14 at 9.5 stone!

I have opposite body dysmorphia too as a PP mentioned Grin, I think I am slimmish for 47 and feel fine but at 8 stone in my teens and twenties to thirties I thought I was fat.

PeachRose · 22/01/2019 12:55

I'm 44 and 5ft 6 weighing at 9st 8lb. Size 10.

I track what I eat Monday to Thursday, exercise (walk the dog) every night for 30 mins. But I eat rubbish at weekend, takeaways, wine and just pig out. I have small children so always runnings around doing things.

ComtesseDeSpair · 22/01/2019 12:58

@RiverTam. Nope, not skinny. Muscular and pretty slim, yes; but I think we’ve become so used to seeing overweight as “average” that we also misjudge “skinny” or “too thin”.

QforCucumber · 22/01/2019 12:58

5ft 5in, Age 32 and weigh 10st 7lbs. comfortable size 10.

Megan2018 · 22/01/2019 12:59

Fat.
Weighed at Dr for the first time in forever and I am 5ft 4 and 71kg. Size 12/14
I was a super skinny as a teen/early 20’s but post 35 have gradually piled it on.

Sarahlou63 · 22/01/2019 13:00

5'6", 60kg which I think is about 9 1/2 stone, age 55. Would love to move some flesh from my belly to my ridiculously skinny legs but have accepted my body shape for what it is.

Tinty · 22/01/2019 13:00

Comtesse really? When I was 8st (5'2) I was definitely skinny - when I went to give blood my colleagues assumed I would be too thin to do so!

When I was 8 st, (5' 3"), I was only allowed to give half the amount (half of a pint I think), because they said my body weight was not high enough to give more.

RiverTam · 22/01/2019 13:00

yes, but I think these days we are also getting very used to seeing very thin as 'normal'. I think that most of us are skewed one way or another!

And I was 8st a loooong time ago!

tiggerkid · 22/01/2019 13:01

5'4" - 8.5 st - more than comfortable size 10
