I've always been skinny / slim but after 2 kids I've suddenly realised I'm not any more following a run in with the scales at the doctors surgery Confused.

I think I have a rare form of body dismorphia where I think I'm skinnier than I am Grin. No idea what size etc I am now. I'm 5ft 8 and 11st 4lb. I have previously always been around the 9.5 stone mark.

Finding it difficult to lose the baby weight after #2 as there is NO TIME! Any tips?

OP posts:
JollyHolly30 · 22/01/2019 15:05

I'm 9st 5lbs and a size 8-10.
I think I have the opposite problem in that I always feel heavier than I am.

GherkinPickle91 · 22/01/2019 15:13

5”9 and during the past year I’ve let things slide and crept up to 15 stone. My dress size varies between 16 - 24 depending on the store.

I am going to work on my weight by eating healthier and exercising more, I know I need to do it for my health.

But I refuse to let myself feel ashamed of my body.

My weight has increased due to comfort eating, after losing a parent last year and being in a destructive relationship with a drug addict, I attempted to take my own life.

I allowed myself a few months of TLC and comfort food, but now I have sorted some counselling for myself, ended the dead end relationship and started to socialise more with people who have a good effect on me.

I’m not excusing my weight or looking for sympathy - But sometimes other aspects of life and more important and we take our eyes off the ball.

I’ll never be “thin” but if I can get to a healthy BMI (about 12 stone) I’ll be happy... And I will do it, for myself, no one else.

Sickofthispain14 · 22/01/2019 15:29

5ft2.5 and 9.5 stone. Size 12. Age 40 with 2 kids.
Could be an 8-10 on top half but I mainly wear dresses and I have an ass (And thighs) that won't quit.

SerenDippitty · 22/01/2019 15:42

Late 50s, 5ft 2, just under 9st, size 10. Happy.

Timmytoo · 22/01/2019 16:05

Ok 5.5, weigh 8.5 stone and a size 4. But my legs are stupidly long so have to buy an 8 I'm pants to reach my feet and my mother takes them in at the hips/waist

FooFighter99 · 22/01/2019 16:16

Wow you're all a bunch if skinnie minnies! I guess us obese betty's are too embarrassed to post....

I am 6ft tall, 22st and a size 24/26

I WAS 25st a few months ago and a size 28/30 but have been doing Slimming World since August Grin

OP weight is just a number but if losing a bit will make you feel better both physically and mentally then sigh up for Lose Weight Feel Great for 12 weeks free SW (if they have that in your area?) and make time for yourself

RiverTam · 22/01/2019 16:24

Timm when I was 8st at 5'2 I was never any smaller than a 6, usually an 8 or even a 10 which just shows how much sizing has changed (this was about 17/18 years ago).

Back in the 80s when I was a teen weighing 8 and a half stone I was a size 12.

RiverTam · 22/01/2019 16:25

congrats Foo!

FooFighter99 · 22/01/2019 16:26

@RiverTam thanks! I am proper chuffed with myself GrinGrinGrin

Ashamedgirl · 22/01/2019 16:29

5 ft 6 I weigh 13 and a half stone I've lost 22lb since having my baby so far and I'm aiming to lose another 10lb

Beerflavourednipples · 22/01/2019 16:34

I'm 5ft2. Pre kids I was about 9stone and a size 10. I didn't see myself as 'skinny' in any way, but looking back on photos now I was quite slim. I have always had chunky thighs and calves, even back then, but my tummy and upper body was slimmer.

I'm now around 11 stone, which is around the same weight I was full term with my first child. When I tell people both of these facts they can't believe it. I am obviously fatter than I used to be (I am a 12-14 now) but I don't feel like I should be 11stone, I don't feel 2 stone heavier than I was back then, but the laws of physics say otherwise!

GivemeGivenchy · 22/01/2019 16:38

I am currently pregnant - so definitely not the case at the moment.. But usually I am 5"8 and weigh 9st 10 and size 8 -10 I also usually work out too.

derxa · 22/01/2019 16:39

I'm bloody enormous. HTH

LuckyLou7 · 22/01/2019 16:44

Only a handful of posters admit to being bigger than a size 12. Most are size 8 - 10. Funny that.

DippyAvocado · 22/01/2019 16:46

Clothing sizing is a funny thing. I am the same height and weight as a poster upthread who is a size 6-8 whereas I wouldn't fit in anything smaller than a 10. I think it's to do with body shape. I am straight up and down so no defined waist, which means trousers below a 10 won't do up but are baggy around the bum and legs.

DippyAvocado · 22/01/2019 16:47

Sorry, trousers below a 10 won't do up but a 10 is baggy around the bum and legs.

puppymouse · 22/01/2019 16:51

If comparison is the thief of joy, this thread hits the mark. It's utterly toxic the way women do this to themselves.

We all have a responsibility to ourselves and our loved ones and dependents, to look after our health and be around for as long as possible. But having been a size 8 and an 18 in the last 10 years, I can 100% confirm it doesn't guarantee happiness like my bigger self had assumed. I'm very glad I have that perspective now.

ShinyRuby · 22/01/2019 16:54

Well said, been thinking the same over a couple of threads lately. A reasonable original post gets hijacked by the stealth (or not so stealth!) gym boasters & the under eating over 'achievers'. OP you sound fine!Smile

FridgeFullOfChocolate · 22/01/2019 17:03

5ft 3, 8st 1 (about 51kg) and a size 8. Sheer luck i'm this size, I used to be a fitness fanatic but then I had kids and don't have time or anyone to watch my children. My youngest is only 18 months, still breastfeeds so maybe that helps? I've always been this weight/size though (bar uni and being pregnant) it's just where my weight naturally sits without any effort.

ALongHardWinter · 22/01/2019 17:06

Well,I 'confess' to being 16 stone and 9 pounds,I'm 5 feet 5 inches tall and a size 20. I'm not ashamed to admit to being so 'huge' as I've managed to lose 3 stone 7lbs (49lbs) over the last 7 months, and I'm feeling pretty pleased about it! At my heaviest (20stone 2lbs) I was a size 24. Still got another 6 stone to go though.

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 22/01/2019 17:12

I'm 5ft 10 and a size "11" if there was such a thing

ElinoristhenewEnid · 22/01/2019 17:14

5ft 5 8st 1lb size 8ish. Post menopausal. Weigh less now than I did when first married and before 2 pregnancies.

Amazonfromkent · 22/01/2019 17:14

45 y old, 5/6, weigh 11.5 size 12. Used to be 14 st size 18-20.

user1533903238 · 22/01/2019 17:25

5’9 weight fluctuates between 10st 7lbs and 11st and I wear a size 10 or 12, prefer a 12 normally as don’t like things too close fitting. I think I look average size, not particularly slim but not overweight, and my weight puts me pretty much in the middle of healthy BMI range.

I’m happy with that and it doesn’t take too much work to maintain, have been this weight most of my adult life and it seems to be my bodies ‘natural weight’. I’ve been smaller but with a constant effort which I can’t be arsed with these days and tends to verge on obsession (and I’ve been 4stone heavier after pregnancy).

TroysMammy · 22/01/2019 17:30

I'm just under 5ft. Weigh 9 stone and size 12. Some places I have to buy a 14 for my top half.
