Do your teenager's bedrooms look like this?

Just that really. My teenage DD lives in an utter shit pit.

So, aibu to care? For context, DP encountered our dog with a used sanitary towel in his mouth a few weeks ago, from DD's shit tip.

I'm no clean and tidy queen, I promise you that, but to me this is unacceptable. Aibu?

Oh my god! NO that is not normal! She needs to sort it out now!

Huffleypuff · 14/01/2019 17:46

I think YABU for taking images of her private space and putting them on MN.

YANBU about the mess though. She needs to sort it out

tessiegirl · 14/01/2019 17:46

That is gross Shock

OutPinked · 14/01/2019 17:46

My bedroom looked like this in my teen years and I would have been utterly mortified had my Mother taken photos and posted them on a public forum Hmm.

It is normal for teenagers bedrooms to look like this.

BruceAndNosh · 14/01/2019 17:47

That's fairly disgusting.
And not disposing of her used pads is gross.

AutumnCrow · 14/01/2019 17:47

It's not unusual. Not great, but not unusual.

You know, if there's a chance she could be identified from this, the personal details are pretty unfair.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 14/01/2019 17:48

No it's not normal.

NK493efc93X1277dd3d6d4 · 14/01/2019 17:48

If I let it yes. You need to insist it's sorted out though.

thingersandfumbs · 14/01/2019 17:49

FYI, she knows I've done it. She thinks it's acceptable and is expecting you all to say I'm a moaning bitch... Wink

YANBU.

My DS is bad too although his room is smaller so not does not look as bad but it is the same.

I turn off the wifi, withhold hold money and stop washing his clothes. It does not work straight away but after about 4 days he takes a bin bag up. Its never great when he has cleaned but its better.
Flowers

Bujo · 14/01/2019 17:49

That's how mine looked Blush

My sisters is still like this and she's 24!

Pachyderm1 · 14/01/2019 17:49

That is foul. She probably needs help sorting it out once and for all. It’s like an episode of extreme hoarders.

Crimebustersofthesea · 14/01/2019 17:49

Mine was a bit like this when I was a teen Blush I did feel better when it was cleaned though so I'd encourage her to sort it (good luck with that Grin)

RavenLG · 14/01/2019 17:49

My room looked quite similar at times as a teenager. Nothing my parents could do to make me keep it clean. I did my own washing. I would deep clean it every month maybe and then it would get like that again. I’m a 32 year old with my own tidy home now so I’m not still a disgusting mess.

I’d be fuming if my parents put pics on the internet though. Pray Daily Fail don’t find this post.

MrDarcyWillBeMine · 14/01/2019 17:50

I’m sorry but how small is her room??

I think YABVU to expect a teen girl to manage in that glorified cupboard!

🤔 if you put all my stuff (at 17) in there you wouldn’t be able to open the door!

YABVU!

Houseonahill · 14/01/2019 17:50

Used sanitary towels aside my bedroom looked like that as a teenager and I would have died if my mum had taken a picture let alone put it on the internet! How mean.

I now live in a lovely tidy house though so it doesn't last.

tinytreefrog · 14/01/2019 17:50

No, no where near that bad!!

My teenage bedroom on the other hand...........

justasking111 · 14/01/2019 17:50

No food in bedroom. Bin bag it all, clean hoover. Then ask her to go through bin bags. Sanitary wear in bathroom bin

AutumnCrow · 14/01/2019 17:50

I think you lack filters, yes.

NK493efc93X1277dd3d6d4 · 14/01/2019 17:50

I wouldn't worry about identification - how many teenagers are on
mums net?

LagunaBubbles · 14/01/2019 17:50

Dirty and disgusting (regarding the sanitary towel) yes... but still normal mess.

Shadow1986 · 14/01/2019 17:50

I had friends at school who’s room looked like this, and mine wasn’t a great deal better at times. My mum didn’t really care and neither did theirs. Me on the other hand, there’s no way I could handle this in my house. Has she not got enough storage or is she just being lazy.

WellBHoise · 14/01/2019 17:50

Sorry OPs DD, it’s disgusting. I bet you don’t realise t but your clothes you wear to school will smell and you’ll have gone nose blind.

ShakeYourTailFeathers · 14/01/2019 17:50

My teenage floordrobe was a thing of wonder. No food/plates though and def no sanitary products. That's fucking grim.

I'm a very tidy adult.

Iamnobirdandnonetensnaresme · 14/01/2019 17:51

Messy is one thing
Dirty Sanpro is a whole other level of vile and needs to be dealt with harshly- not on at all!

No food or drinks other than water in the bedrooms if they can’t clear up after themselves
