Do your teenager's bedrooms look like this?

Just that really. My teenage DD lives in an utter shit pit.

So, aibu to care? For context, DP encountered our dog with a used sanitary towel in his mouth a few weeks ago, from DD's shit tip.

I'm no clean and tidy queen, I promise you that, but to me this is unacceptable. Aibu?

It's not unusual. I'd say on the scale of bad, it's 8-9/10, but she's not alone.
Needs addressing though and I am sure deep down she knows it does too.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 14/01/2019 18:22

I don’t know any teenage bedrooms in that disgusting condition.

It’s pretty grim

LovingLola · 14/01/2019 18:22

It’s disgusting
My teen daughter’s room is untidy - that one is grim

LovingLola · 14/01/2019 18:22

How old is she ?

Hoopaloop · 14/01/2019 18:23

Bet that rooms stinks 👃

thingersandfumbs · 14/01/2019 18:23

She's 18.

RB68 · 14/01/2019 18:24

at 18 she should have grown out of being a dirty minger teen - sorry but she doesn't deserve a room with that shit all over it.

whatsthepointthen · 14/01/2019 18:25

18 is an adult!

MyDcAreMarvel · 14/01/2019 18:26

No , why are you allowing her to drink all that coke etc, or even drink/eat in her room at all?

whatsthepointthen · 14/01/2019 18:26

I dont think the size of the room is an issue, my dds is 8 by 9 and nowhere near as messy, we cant all afford mansions!

MyDcAreMarvel · 14/01/2019 18:26

Sorry missed she was 18 ignore my post.

Zoflorabore · 14/01/2019 18:26

My ds is 15 and his room is spotless. He can't cope with mess and won't let any of his friends sit on his bed.
I bought a chair for his room esp for his best friend! Ds does have Aspergers so struggles with disorder but even so I would freak out if I saw a room like that Grin

HappilyHarridan · 14/01/2019 18:26

That was normal for me as teen! I’m much better now!

User758172 · 14/01/2019 18:27

Fuck me, that’s disgusting! Don’t know how anyone could stomach looking at that Envy

User758172 · 14/01/2019 18:27

Oops not envy - vomit face!

MummyDummyNow · 14/01/2019 18:28

It looks like a squat! Also looks like it'd smell like one too.

maddiemookins16mum · 14/01/2019 18:28

It’s not right. I would have never allowed it to get into such a state (my mum would have skelped my backside even if I was a teen).

ltk · 14/01/2019 18:29

That went beyond unacceptable a while back.

puzzledlady · 14/01/2019 18:29

Yuck! This looks disgusting and so unsanitary. OP I feel bad for you. My mother would never have let me get to that state. 🤮

AutumnCrow · 14/01/2019 18:29

Oh you'll be getting it removed? Think you've shamed her enough online now?

m0therofdragons · 14/01/2019 18:30

This is why I have a no food rule upstairs! Mess like clothes I can accept (just) but plates and cups? Envy(not jealousy)

OnBail · 14/01/2019 18:30

Yes, only worse and I am not joking, op I know how you feel. 2 sons shared a room, it was always a shit tip from them being young. Got fed up with clearing it up all the time. Used to get them to do it, it would take them all day, complaing, moaning, stopping to go on the x box, etc. If they put their mind to it they could have been done in 30 minutes. It took them all day.

Moved to a new house 4 years ago, new carpets, curtains, fresh decoration, new beds etc, told no eating upstairs allowed etc, within a month it was a shit tip. For my mental health I had to shut the door and leave it. Food, plates, takeaway etc.

Ds1 moved out, ds2 did the room up, it did get messy but if I nagged enough he would clean it. A month ago Ds1 moved back, yesterday I had a shit fit at them. You couldn’t even walk in the room due to all the clothes everywhere, and the rubbish, mounds and mounds of rubbish.

It depresses the shit out of me to see how disgusting the room is. I could quite happily kick the pair out. They ignore our rule of no eating upstairs and it takes a fucking melt down from me to get them to clean up.

Candace19 · 14/01/2019 18:31

Switch the WiFi off till it's tidied!

Baxdream · 14/01/2019 18:32

I'd be interested how tidy the rest of the house is..
Completely not normal in our house

ShaggyRug · 14/01/2019 18:32

Ugh no! That’s minging! Even my messy DD is nowhere near that disgusting. Has she no pride?.... and I’m sorry but used sanitary product Envy
