This is quite frankly bullshit.

Because under the binary system you legally have to be one or the other I believe

And maybe not for much longer re. Born of

Jenny17 · 03/01/2019 20:23

Only women can give birth.

wishful2012 · 03/01/2019 20:27

Am in south Scotland and was refused it on the NHS

Janettomas · 03/01/2019 20:36

Jenny 17 there you go defining other people again. Let them define themselves.

Stompythedinosaur · 03/01/2019 20:44

Hair removal is not available to trans-gender people on the NHS in my area. Are you certain it is in yours, or are you just assuming that trans-gender people have some sort of unfair advantage?

OVAgroundWOMBlingfree · 03/01/2019 20:50

And maybe not for much longer re. Born of

Can you explain the science behind that?

LucyAutumn · 03/01/2019 20:55

This has made me really angry Angry

Jenny17 · 03/01/2019 21:24

Everyone is free to define themselves. However males do not give birth. That is a fact. Women do give birth, that's another fact.

MorningsEleven · 03/01/2019 21:33

Well I’m not one to link to Tumblr and Reddit as a source but

Apparently you are though.

Superpooper · 03/01/2019 21:36

@stompythedinosaur this is all off the back of an article in the daily mail wherein a trans woman is complaining about how long they’ve waited for laser hair removal through the NHS.

Jenny17 · 03/01/2019 21:39

@stompythedinosaur clearly laser removal is available to transwoman as stated in Daily Mail.

Superpooper · 03/01/2019 21:43

I wouldn’t believe everything in the daily mail to be honest. It sounds like it’s been a long winded process with funding being sought from the article.

I really am on the fence about it, but it should be available to everyone or no one.

DopeyDazy · 03/01/2019 21:47

there's another case in daily mail of women with moth cancer having ok postponed three times ,the money would be better spent on lifesaving ops than vanity ops ,next month she might want to change back

Janettomas · 03/01/2019 21:53

If you read the Daily Fail article it actually states it was offered as part of gender re assignment. Not just on its own. Even the Fail felt they couldn't get away without including that bit. It's vital to the context

Superpooper · 03/01/2019 22:13

But if women don’t have hair on their faces, surely it should be offered to women with PCOS as part of their treatment?

Janettomas · 03/01/2019 22:23

Looks like it would be if they sought gender reassignment

gendercritter · 03/01/2019 22:33

Believe it or not some groups have it worse than “women “ do . Why not listen to what the people you’re taking it upon yourselves to define say themselves and let them define themselves and speak for themselves .

Luckily we've come far enough that in 2019 this just comes across as emotionally manipulative twaddle.

I feel sorry for anyone with gender dysphoria because some must have a very tough time. They deserve help.

But all this 'we are the most oppressed group of people eva and you're all mean' just reads as being narcissistic and utter hyperbole. Every woman will have a friend who has suffered rape or sexual assault or domestic violence. Or birth trauma or poor medical care on account of their sex. Give over with the 'we're the most vulnerable people in the world' schtick. You're harming your own cause.

Janettomas · 03/01/2019 22:40

What constitutes 'emotionally manipulative twaddle' is subjective I'm sure you'll agte
Also you make several. Unfounded assumptions in your post

Stompythedinosaur · 04/01/2019 00:34

I'm not convinced that the Daily Mail is a credible source of information regarding trans issues. I don't believe that hair removal is commonly funded.

User758172 · 04/01/2019 00:42

@Janettomas

This is as basic as science gets, I’m afraid. Females give birth. Men don’t.

Janettomas · 04/01/2019 01:08

Are you absolutely sure about that? No expert but google suggests different

Room101isWhereIUsedtoLive · 04/01/2019 01:30

@Stompythedinosaur when I had my last endocrinoligist appointment, the consultant I was seeing did inform me that if I were transitioning as a biological male to trying to be perceived as female, I would be entitled to six treatments of laser hair removal courtesy of the NHS. As a proper cunty women suffering from an endocrine disorder, known as PCOS, I am entitled to zilch. My actual lived experience which if you do a search on my user name, you will find me discussing elsewhere.

Not my 'belief'.

FromEden · 04/01/2019 01:32

Seriously? Please can you provide a link to this never before heard of male person who has given birth. You know, a male, a person with testicles and a penis. No you can't can you, because in reality the words male and female still mean something.

Females are of the sex who give birth. End of.

Letsmoveondude · 04/01/2019 01:40

Agree.pcos sufferer here, was told I could get no help at all on the NHS. I wish that their answer was the same across the board.

HelenaDove · 04/01/2019 01:50

Room 101 thats appalling.
