It's the first day of my period and I'm in a fair bit of pain. Feeling a bit sorry for myself and just fancy a sparkling lemon flavoured water from Tesco. Asked DP 10 mins ago if he would go get me one and he categorically said no. I know it's late but aibu to ask. I am on the verge of tears and just would love a "treat"

Do you think your DP would go to the garage 7 mins down the road if asked (in my position)

Mine definitely would

peachypetite · 28/10/2018 22:23

Yes he would.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 28/10/2018 22:23

Probably not but at this time on a Sunday the closest Supermarket that's open is an hours round trip. If he was passing one he would.

Claireshh · 28/10/2018 22:23

Nope! Not at this time of night anyway.

pickleface · 28/10/2018 22:24

Yea he would

BlueCurious · 28/10/2018 22:24

Yes in a heartbeat.

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 28/10/2018 22:24

Sorry X-posted with your second post. Yes he would if it was that close.

PinkHeart5914 · 28/10/2018 22:25

Well mine will be up for his work train at 5am so I wouldn’t dream of asking him this time of night unless it was for an emergency item (I.e painkillers) mine would absolutely go but I’d feel a bitch knowing his winding down for bed now

JustJoinedRightNow · 28/10/2018 22:25

Nope mine wouldn’t.

Ellisandra · 28/10/2018 22:25

How far is the shop?
If you were asking for painkillers I’d say he was totally unreasonable.
But honestly, some kind of water as a ‘treat’? If I were him, I’d be thinking you were being quite childish - sorry, I know you’re feeling rough so I don’t want to be mean, but trying to see from his side - and I really wouldn’t see the value in the ‘treat’.

I love my husband, and if this was a rare ask and would take less than 15 minutes, I think we’d both do it for each other. But honestly, inside I think we’d both do the Hmm face!

CrazyOldBagLady · 28/10/2018 22:25

Admittedly mine probably would, but it would be a bit unreasonable to ask him as lemon flavoured water isn’t a necessary tonic to period pains. You should tell him you have run out of ibuprofen and ask him to pick up the water whilst he is out.

MrsEricBana · 28/10/2018 22:25

No. Dh would if I needed medicine or something but not because I fancied some lemonade.

ButFirstTea · 28/10/2018 22:25

Yeah he would, but I'd ask for something a bit more exciting than a sparkling water!

MacosieAsunter · 28/10/2018 22:25

Mine probably would, but I wouldn't be so demanding at this time of night. Take a couple of paracetamol.

ThePencil · 28/10/2018 22:25

During the day, yes, he would. At this time of night, with work tomorrow, I'm not sure. If I really begged him to, he probably would, but I think it's more likely I'd decide to have something already in the house instead.

MorningCuppa · 28/10/2018 22:26

Mine would yes.

MrsGarethSouthgate · 28/10/2018 22:26

I wouldn't be impressed if my other half wanted me to go out at this time, for something non-medicinal because they fancied it as 'a treat', no.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 28/10/2018 22:26

Can’t you go and get it?

Gileswithachainsaw · 28/10/2018 22:26

Probably not.

He'd fetch me a paracetamol from the kitchen. Or go run me a bath. But then tbh I'd not be asking someome at this time of night to go out into the cold for a non emergency.

Is there a back story here?

TeeBee · 28/10/2018 22:27

Mine would love that I'd asked him and jump up and do it to make me happy...but I wouldn't ask him. I'm an adult and could do it myself...period pains or not.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 28/10/2018 22:27

For painkillers, yes my DP would. I don't know about water though, probably not but I'd never ask him to go this time of night for some flavoured water.

MeredithGrey1 · 28/10/2018 22:27

He’d go for painkillers and/or tampons, but at this time of night probably not for something I just fancied having.

DamnShesaSexyChick · 28/10/2018 22:27

Why don't you go yourself?

FissionChips · 28/10/2018 22:28

Can’t you just take some painkillers or have a warm bath?
Completely unreasonable to ask him to go at this time of night for a non medicine.
