...to buy Christmas presents from Aldi's wtf aisle

What the title says really. I really love Aldi and their wtf aisle every week. I've since converted my husband who is now equally if not more excited at the workshop range of goodies.

Anyways they've got some great pots, and candles and quilts which I think would make great presents but would people judge me as cheap? (Last year the Christmas desserts I've taken to my in laws have always gone down well and they only eat m and s)

If you repackaged them in some lovely gift boxes would anyone even know where they are from?

ShockedHorrored · 23/10/2018 14:26

Wtf aisle Grin

I’ve already made a list of things to buy when I pop in there Thursday. I wouldn’t judge. They do good stuff.

peachgreen · 23/10/2018 14:28

Anyone who judges you for where you buy your presents is a bit of a dick tbh! I get lots of lovely stuff in Aldi and the other supermarkets.

Ledehe · 23/10/2018 14:28

Love WTF aisle. I have similarly christened the Lidl one as the Corridor of Shite so i'm please to know there is someone out there like me.

Lidl's Corridor of Shite this week is TOYS!

Finfintytint · 23/10/2018 14:29

It’s called the Aisle of Shite in our house.
Usually get bits and bobs there for Christmas. Nothing wrong with Aldi.

Housingcraze · 23/10/2018 14:30

I bought a Halloween item in Aldi 89p

In Sainsbury’s exact same item 2.99

GhoulMythicalMoooaning · 23/10/2018 14:30

Do it! As long as its nice stuff and not tat go with it.

SymphonyofShadows · 23/10/2018 14:30

I'm thinking of getting my DM a teatime type hamper in there this year, instead of M&S

DrWhy · 23/10/2018 14:32

Ooh, are the Lidl wooden toys in already? I thought that started on Thursday! I’m going to have to escape in my lunch break tomorrow and go and have a look.

florafawna · 23/10/2018 14:37

Sounds like a plan Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 23/10/2018 14:39

It’s called the aisle of crap. If you are in the north west the Stalybridge one has like five aisles. It’s magic.
They do have the odd really good bits their sports socks are fantastic. Like £4 for 3 pairs and better than the £10 a pair nike ones

GhoulishGremlins · 23/10/2018 14:41

Ah, the aisle of random shit!

My favourite place to be Halloween Grin

yy558 · 23/10/2018 14:42

On a side note I am loving the names for the aisle. GrinGrin

Remove the labels, tie some ribbons round, pop in a nicer box. Nobody would know!

ManILurveCake · 23/10/2018 14:45

I shop in Aldi & absolutely love it. I've not bought any Christmas presents from there yet but I have bought all my MILs Christmas presents from Home Bargains. All stuff I know she likes. I bought her some Vaseline handcream she loves for 99p, exact same bottle was £5 in Asda. If you're on a budget it makes sense to buy thing's within your price range & as long as it's good quality what does it matter where you buy from.

RedDrink · 23/10/2018 14:47

It's the aisle of "Don't go down there because we'll buy random shit." for us.

I think WTF aisle might be easier to say.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 23/10/2018 14:48

How would anyone know?

I love the wtf aisle in Aldi (actually the only reason I go in there, most of the time) and I love that name for it! Managed to get some really good deals in there before now.
One of my favourites was being able to buy Hairy McLairy hard back books for less than AU$5 each, which is bargainous! Nobody would have known they were from Aldi.

Just do it - as others have said, pretty them up with nice bags/paper/boxes or whatever if you feel the need to but really, who is going to know where they're from?

Isleepinahedgefund · 23/10/2018 14:48

Love the WTF aisle. Usually known as the aisle of random round here.

Nothing wrong with getting stuff there for christmas, everyone loves a special buy!

When I'm not in a rush and shopping sans kids I like to treat myself to a proper, slow browse. We've just had a new massive Aldi open near us and I'm really looking forward to going because they will likely have loads of aisles of shite 😁

AviatorShades · 23/10/2018 14:50

I've always thought of it as the Aisle of Wondrous ThingsSmile
I love the sheer randomness of the stuff they sell there, particularly near Christmas.

Conseulabananahammock · 23/10/2018 14:50

Ahhh the aisle of doom.. I can't count the amount of random tool kits we have accrued from there, you know just in case 🤣 the candles and toiletries are lovely and actually on par with very high end stuff. I'd happily receive as gifts.

CombineBananaFister · 23/10/2018 14:51

Hah, it's called the random shit aisle in our house and I have just bought DS a very reasonably priced stunt kite for Xmas for £2.99. Buy away, might need to rename it the wtf aisle though Grin

Conseulabananahammock · 23/10/2018 14:51

Side note. Recently realised they have an online shop where you can buy the aisle of doom stuff.
How I never knew this before I don't know!

Jins · 23/10/2018 14:52

OH calls it the ‘square of treasure’.....Confused

GhoulishGremlins · 23/10/2018 14:52

I'm sorry, they WHAT

Sidge · 23/10/2018 14:52

Ah we call it Lidl’s Aisle of Shite. Like the Isle of Wight but cheaper 😆

Some of it is shite but some of it is fabulous.
