...to buy Christmas presents from Aldi's wtf aisle

What the title says really. I really love Aldi and their wtf aisle every week. I've since converted my husband who is now equally if not more excited at the workshop range of goodies.

Anyways they've got some great pots, and candles and quilts which I think would make great presents but would people judge me as cheap? (Last year the Christmas desserts I've taken to my in laws have always gone down well and they only eat m and s)

Do it, nothing wrong with their stuff. We call it the isle of randomness.

spugzbunny · 23/10/2018 14:54

You can buy it online??? Shock

Sidge · 23/10/2018 14:55

The great thing about Aldi and Lidl is where else can you pick up avocados, milk, shampoo, wine, garden chairs, drill bits, thermal leggings, Cypriot cheese and German gluhwein all in the same place?

spiderlight · 23/10/2018 14:57

We call it 'What's in the middle at Lidl?' (Even if we're in Aldi).

PyongyangKipperbang · 23/10/2018 14:57

We love the Aisle Of Mysteries! Go for it, anyone who kicks off is not deserving of a gift anyway.

MysteriousQuinn · 23/10/2018 14:57

Aaah I call it the special buys I'm so boring. Going for wtf aisle from now on Grin mind you ours has about 6 rows of it.

Loyaultemelie · 23/10/2018 14:59

Sadly we don't have Aldi in Northern Ireland but I absolutely love Lidl and their Aisle of Shite, can't believe the toys are in already

cariadlet · 23/10/2018 14:59

Aldi special buys Grin

I’m going to Aldi early on Thursday in the hope of getting the giant sloth teddy for someone’s Christmas present. May even push the boat out and go to Lidl, too.

GoopWrithing · 23/10/2018 15:03

Ahhh... It's the crap isle for us. DH amuses himself by enthusiastically asking me about random shite: "Oh, should we get a new bungy rope kit?!" (Yes, they were selling those last weekened...)

I certainly don't think there's anything wrong in picking up a Christmas present there!

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 23/10/2018 15:03

We don't have Aldi or Lidl - but our supermarket has a whole 'International Aisle" which we call the 'Forrin Muck' aisle Grin

ClaraLane · 23/10/2018 15:03

We call it the Aisle of Requirement (a bit like the Room of Requirement in Harry Potter that’s full of things you need) and I’ve already bought some presents from it - my grandad has a bug and insect hotel for Christmas from there!

PiperPublickOccurrences · 23/10/2018 15:04

It is the "aisle of random tat" in our house. And it houses some quite extraordinary items. You just have to look past the creosote and luminous cycling gear to get to it.

BertieBotts · 23/10/2018 15:09

I actually get the leaflet every week and plan what to buy there Blush

TheGrassIsGreener3 · 23/10/2018 15:20

Wtf aisle Grin

Yes, of course you can buy presents from there. As long as it's nice stuff that you think the recipient will like...go for it. If someone judges your present because of the shop it's from, they don't deserve the present!

I wouldn't necessarily call that aisle cheap though. Some things are but some things, like foot stools, blankets etc, aren't particularly cheap.

LonelyOversharer · 23/10/2018 15:21

Oh my goodness, we need the giant sloth! I have 3 aldis in my town, do you think I'll get one early doors thursday?

Aisle of doom here, especially love the foody idle of randomness in lidl, where all the special buy food is reduced alongside bleach and multi packs of odd crisps.

Go for it, christmas is what you make of it. If people are sniffy about recieving aldi stuff, stuff them.

And now I want a Lidl pain aux chocolat. Thanks for that Grin

BlooperReel · 23/10/2018 15:22

It is the Random Shit aisle for us. I love it Grin

spiderlight · 23/10/2018 15:25

@StompyDino you have just caused such a rollercoaster of emotion here! Excitement that there's a giant sloth teddy, followed mere seconds later by crushing disappointment that it's sold out online. I shall pine for it always.....

StompyDino · 23/10/2018 15:28

@spiderlight I will be very sad if they don’t have it in stock when I go Sad I am setting my alarm especially to get there when it opens...

Theweasleytwins · 23/10/2018 15:29

I call it the Aisle of crap❤️

IcedPurple · 23/10/2018 15:36

I LOVE the Aisle of Shyte! Find it hard to come away without something... though in fairness often it does turn out to be shyte!

Slightly off topic but I recently saw one of those 'sunrise' style alarm clocks in Lidl - you know, the ones which start getting gradually brighter about half an hour before the alarm is set to go off. I was intrigued but my experience with Lidl electronics has been less than encouraging. Has anyone tried it?

Hoppinggreen · 23/10/2018 15:37

It’s the aisle of random crap in our house
If the stuff is nice who cares where it came from

Rudgie47 · 23/10/2018 15:38

It makes me laugh, there will be items like mens wellingtons next to womens slippers and nail varnish and then tins of sardines, then pet beds. Its a bit of a mish mash.
Theres some good stuff there if you can be arsed rummaging about for your own size.

mingebags · 23/10/2018 15:45

If you're calling the Lidl version anything other than Midl, you're doing it wrong ;)
