...to buy Christmas presents from Aldi's wtf aisle

What the title says really. I really love Aldi and their wtf aisle every week. I've since converted my husband who is now equally if not more excited at the workshop range of goodies.

Anyways they've got some great pots, and candles and quilts which I think would make great presents but would people judge me as cheap? (Last year the Christmas desserts I've taken to my in laws have always gone down well and they only eat m and s)

DH got some great leather slip on Birkenstock style sandals in the summer for £7.99!

Exactly like this.

Witchofwisteria · 23/10/2018 16:21

Not at all, as long as you are buying it because its genuinely nice, not just because its cheaper! I think their spa candles are gorgeous and I have a few rugs and garden bits from there :)

Also just to add, I bought a little rug in there for £5.99 in summer, googled to see if anyone else is selling it as i'd like another for the front door and wayfair are now selling the exact same one for £12.99 plus postage. I think Aldi just have clever buyers!

TheMagicTorch · 23/10/2018 16:23

@hopefullybettersoon I think it's Aldi that have the wooden toys in from Thursday

(Apologies for the huge link!) I am getting the gorgeous wooden kitchen for my 2yo nephew for Christmas

It’s the Aisle of dreams!

WhoGivesADamnForAFlakeyBandit · 23/10/2018 16:24

We call it the Aisle of Shame here. My dad conveniently lives opposite a Lidl and I've converted him but I might need to re-train him onto the Aisle of Shite. That's brilliant.

GiantKitten · 23/10/2018 16:24

@spiderlight

We call it 'What's in the middle at Lidl?' (Even if we're in Aldi).

Last week I noticed a poster in Lidl headlined MIDDLE OF LIDL Grin

Was new I'm pretty sure, because I mentioned it to the checkout girl & she hadn't noticed it. We both agreed it's a shame Aldi can't use it Wink

Cambalamb · 23/10/2018 16:24

That kitcheh is lovely and so much better than the plastic junk for twice the price!

Cambalamb · 23/10/2018 16:25

kitchen!

TheMagicTorch · 23/10/2018 16:26

@Cambalamb isn't it just, I couldn't believe it for the price - my sister will appreciate it so much more than the plastic tat!

GiantKitten · 23/10/2018 16:27

Blimey! An actual armchair at Aldi

They'll be selling bathroom suites & fitted kitchens soon

ChatNicknameAlreadyInUse · 23/10/2018 16:28

We call it the central aisle of bad decisions. I buy loads of Christmas pressies from Lidl and Aldi. If folk are pissed off about where the gifts come from I won't be buying for them again!

itwillbealrightpromise · 23/10/2018 16:29

YADNBU! I'd be thrilled with anything from the Aisle of Wonder!

knockknockknock · 23/10/2018 16:29

Aisle of Wonder here.

TheLongRider · 23/10/2018 16:31

You all need the "Ballad of Lidl & Aldi". I defy you not to sing the chorus!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 23/10/2018 16:32

It's known as the 'Even Better Than That..' section in our house, after the old Fast Show sketch.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 23/10/2018 16:33

A few weeks ago I struggled into Lidl with a broken leg as they had gym gear I wanted for my son at half the price you would pay elsewhere.
I love the isle of Radom stuff and have noticed my local Tesco has now introduced baskets of randomness as well.

divafever99 · 23/10/2018 16:42

Hi for it! If someone bought me chocolate, candles, Reed diffuser, gin, Prosecco or their Irish cream liquor I would be very happy! A lot of their special buys are of great quality.

divafever99 · 23/10/2018 16:42

Go for it not Hi for it!

MinecraftHolmes · 23/10/2018 16:43

The Square of Treasure - Amazing.

We tend to call it "The Middle Aisle of Wonder"

hooveringhamabeads · 23/10/2018 16:43

I think it’s like the magic faraway tree, you never know what exciting land you will find when you walk in.

Unless you get the leaflets. But I don’t, because that would ruin it.

Atchiclees · 23/10/2018 16:43

Aisle of Shite here too. Grin Had some good stuff amongst the shite from the Midl of Lidl.

GhoulMythicalMoooaning · 23/10/2018 16:44

I didnt know they did online stuff too, brilliant
