...to buy Christmas presents from Aldi's wtf aisle

What the title says really. I really love Aldi and their wtf aisle every week. I've since converted my husband who is now equally if not more excited at the workshop range of goodies.

Anyways they've got some great pots, and candles and quilts which I think would make great presents but would people judge me as cheap? (Last year the Christmas desserts I've taken to my in laws have always gone down well and they only eat m and s)

Yes!!! My family always get stocking stuffers from Aldi plus one other gift eg a jumper, quite formulaic but it works.

SassitudeandSparkle · 23/10/2018 16:49

Ah, the Central Aisle of Randomness. It's been a while ....

PawneeParksDept · 23/10/2018 16:50

I did love how Lidl had a UK exclusive on Paris Hilton's latest beauty range 😂

It was very how the mighty have fallen

She was probably told by her people a "major UK retail chain bought the rights" and she has no idea that it's no John Lewis or even Boots

whatashower · 23/10/2018 16:52

I'd proudly state it was from Aldi, to show your impeccable taste and cleverness at finding such good value.

What I love is that everyone - and I mean pretty much everyone - thinks that the Aldi and Lidl WTF aisles and rigorous scrutiny of their special deal drops every week - are their - and only their - guilty secret. Just like TKMaxx. 😀

YANBU.

Didn’t Giselle or a similar supermodel have a clothing range at Lidl? I’m sure I was deeply unimpressed with it as it was just stripy tops and skinny jeans type stuff.

Sidge · 23/10/2018 17:09

@TitsalinaBumsquash lol at aisle of denial.

Every single time we go to Lidl DD2 says “shall we get a big trolley” and I always say noooo, we don’t need much, we’ll get one of those small ones.

Then I fill it to overflowing with stuff I never knew I needed , never take enough bags in with me, and DD2 gives me That Look and sighs...

Sidge · 23/10/2018 17:10

And Lidl’s Cien skin range is bloody marvellous. I bought the serum skin food stuff recently and it’s lovely. £2.99. £2.99!!!

userplus · 23/10/2018 17:12

I love the random aisle in Aldi. In our house we call it the Gauntlet of Shite

Meckity1 · 23/10/2018 17:20

I spent over £100 in Aldi the other day.

tbf, it did include a ceramic heater, smoke alarms and CO2 alarms as well as far too much chocolate and alcohol.

Camomila · 23/10/2018 17:26

DSs first Christmas and Birthday presents were from the Aldi/Lidl wtf aisle...wooden rocking horse for Christmas and a wooden walker for his birthday.
DM got him a magnetic puzzle one year and my uncle some wooden chopping fruit.

Seems the go to present place in my family!

Cheesymonster · 23/10/2018 17:29

Ah, the aisle of wonder. YANBU, definitely. Have at it!

dontticklethetoad · 23/10/2018 17:32

We call it The Aisle of Dreams.
And I don't think there is anything wrong with buying a present from there!

Fstar · 23/10/2018 17:36

They did cookie jars a couple of years ago that played a song when you opened it, one song was who let the dogs out, wish i had bought it for my dad

TheSpottedZebra · 23/10/2018 17:58

It was Heidi Klum, she's had a few ranges now.

I LOVE Aldi. And i really rate some of their stuff, eg chocolate and plants. And their electronic stuff has a 3 yr warranty, which is excellent.

Boomchicawowow · 23/10/2018 18:00

To be honest I don’t even thing the wtf aisle is that cheap! We often pick bits up as gifts!

TulipsInBloom1 · 23/10/2018 18:01

I call it Dad's Aisle. Because one tim I made thw mistake of going there with my Dad. I did a 2week shop, plus a leisurely stroll round the Aisle of Crap, and paid. He was still circling the Aisle of Crap.

youarenotkiddingme · 23/10/2018 18:02

Living it called the WTF aisle Grin

In the run up to Christmas I always get bits and bobs in there.

I've made up hamper boxes for people.

Various ones of:

Stationary
Slippers and cremes
Ski accessories
Books and small toys
Alcohol and glasses!

glueandstick · 23/10/2018 18:05

Central aisle of random crap here.

Cannot wait for Thursday!

CamomileTease · 23/10/2018 18:10

My mum calls them the Aisles of Silly.

GhouldaLovesLillies · 23/10/2018 19:01

My mum calls them the Aisles of Silly.

Genius!

Weedsnseeds1 · 23/10/2018 19:38

Needful Things Aisle.

Shampoo0 · 23/10/2018 20:00

I recieved aldi chocolate one xmas, I am happy with it and ate them all. I have seen people complain about cheap presents here though, I guess it's depends on who.

Tomselleckhaskindeyes · 23/10/2018 20:00

We call them the baskets of glory!!

Datedandold · 23/10/2018 20:07

The Aisle of Smiles.

The white chocolate Aldi truffles are lovely, and I got a beautiful rug from there the other day at a third of the price of another I was looking at elsewhere.

Love Aldi.

Cambalamb · 23/10/2018 20:12

Those who have yet to discover Aldi can stay in Tesco/Sainsburys etc and leave the loot to us.
I love it all: price, quality, small size, speed of shopping, service from staff and the silly aisle(genius pp's mum)
