...to buy Christmas presents from Aldi's wtf aisle

What the title says really. I really love Aldi and their wtf aisle every week. I've since converted my husband who is now equally if not more excited at the workshop range of goodies.

Anyways they've got some great pots, and candles and quilts which I think would make great presents but would people judge me as cheap? (Last year the Christmas desserts I've taken to my in laws have always gone down well and they only eat m and s)

We call it ‘the isle of stuff you never knew you needed’.

I think Aldi stuff makes great gifts, no need to feel ashamed for buying it, no need to remove packaging, it’s just stuff.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 23/10/2018 15:46

Aisle of denial here - usually because I'm adamant I won't buy anything from it every time I go in but alas I am always in denial because one or two things will always find a way in.

You're grand OP, go for it.

Ah! The Aisles of Wonder. Still kicking myself that I missed the radiator covers a couple of months back. I"m going to have to pay twice as much now :-(

Is it wrong that I want a giant sloth?

Narya · 23/10/2018 15:48

It's the Aisle of Wonderment in our house Grin

TheMagicTorch · 23/10/2018 15:50

I'd happily receive them! Last year I bought my OH a lovely corkscrew set with added extras, he loved it! and I'm getting my nephew the wooden kitchen that they have on special buy this week for £29.99

TheDogsMother · 23/10/2018 15:51

Indeed @Sidge and a rat trap too

Cambalamb · 23/10/2018 15:58

Anyone who judges your gifts should be downgraded.

Cambalamb · 23/10/2018 16:00

Some gorgeous rugs and cushions in Aldi lately. Worthy of John Lewis soft furnishings. I did a triple take but DH pulled me away! Grin

summercat · 23/10/2018 16:00

@sidge

Ah we call it Lidl’s Aisle of Shite. Like the Isle of Wight but cheaper 😆

PMSL!

Went in for bread today and came out with bread and two succulents in a pot for £2.99 Grin

We call it the aisle of shite, even though a lot of the stuff is pretty good! I once bought camping equipment, scented candles and eye cream in the same trolley.

The chocolates go down very well as Xmas gifts too. They do some great chocolate seashells and truffles.

hopefullybettersoon · 23/10/2018 16:03

Total aside but it wooden toys week in Lidl? I've been waiting a year for this! We only have Aldi nearby so I have to make a special trip for it.

AnarchyKitty · 23/10/2018 16:03

Its the aisle of wonder here and I love it! I'd be very happy to get one of their heated faux fur throws as a present!

borntobequiet · 23/10/2018 16:05

A giant sloth teddy? I’m on my way now.
Also need drain cleaner stuff and spring onions.

BiscuitsWithEverythingPlease · 23/10/2018 16:08

One of my friends gave me a lovely cake tin with 4 matching mugs from Aldi. Its in exactly the right colours and I'm thrilled. i don't care where a gift comes from, nor what it costs when it's been so well thought out. In the past ive bought brilliant story books and some excellent garden bits, including a bug house that was way more expensive, but not any nicer at the garden centre. The Aldi insulated thermal woolly gloves are great too! Go for it. I'm loving the WTF tag... hilarious!

PickleSarnie · 23/10/2018 16:09

Everyone says that shopping in Aldi is cheaper. But once you factor in popping in for milk and beans but being distracted by the aisle of randomness and coming out with a 4 man tent, a powerdrill and a canoe (whilst entirely forgetting about the milk and beans) it's really not!

I save myself money by sticking to Waitrose.

Babybearsporij · 23/10/2018 16:10

I've bought loads of present from the Aisle of Random. I don't think people are that judgy about Aldi / LIDL now.

Kenworthington · 23/10/2018 16:13

We call them the aisles of joy 😂

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 23/10/2018 16:15

We call it the

Shiny aisle of shite

Runnynosehunny · 23/10/2018 16:15

Can't decide whether I prefer Aisle of Shite or WTF aisle. I do like Midl at Lidl too.
I think its fine to buy presents there as long as they are nice.

WhiteVixen · 23/10/2018 16:15

I call it the Aisle of Dreams. I love it and will happily buy presents there if I see suitable things.

shakeatailfeather · 23/10/2018 16:16

Its the 'cave of wonders' (which has to be said like Iago the parrot from Aladdin) and i love it!

MaudebeGonne · 23/10/2018 16:17

Look what I found there today!

When I food shop I ignore the aisle of wonderment but my subconscious registers it and then I might pop back. I find it hard to by other stuff when food shopping, it's like a have to on a different program lol
