Black bars blocking MN threads (mobile site)?

MemoryOfSleep · 22/10/2018 07:51

To be honest, I'm more irritated that mumsnet haven't fixed it yet. Started getting this a few days ago on my phone. Black sections blocking out parts or the whole of threads on the mobile site. Had a search and apparently a thread was started about it in site stuff on the seventh of October! Mumsnet said they'd take a look at it but no word for a while now. Seemed to be Samsung devices mainly but also a few Sony. AIBU to use this thread to see how widespread the problem is and urge MN to do something about it?

(Hopefully not a TAAT because this is about the problem not the other thread. Just mentioned the other thread to avoid suggestions that I post in site stuff and to highlight the duration of the issue.)

It happened on my Archos phone and now this one, a Huawei.

DamsonGin · 22/10/2018 07:54

I assumed it was just me!

(As a side note, is there a word for when you're glad and annoyed at the same time?)

LyraLieIn · 22/10/2018 07:55

It happens intermittently on my moto g too

Lethaldrizzle · 22/10/2018 07:55

Me too!

Shizzy · 22/10/2018 07:56

I'm getting this too on my Samsung Galaxy using Chrome. I mentioned it on the previous thread. It's actually worse now. Fix it - please!

rafffy · 22/10/2018 07:57

it started happening on my Samsung for yesterday.

it's so annoying!

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 22/10/2018 07:57

Also here and also thought it was me

MemoryOfSleep · 22/10/2018 07:59

Quite a few people have this issue then. Hopefully everyone who does will take the time to tell us that so we can get some visibility for the problem. I'm attaching a picture of it.

Yes me too on my Vodafone n9 lite - thought it was just because my phone is crap!

antisocialextrovert · 22/10/2018 08:07

I'm getting it on my Samsung too. If you refresh it goes away for a while but eventually comes back.

PositiveVibez · 22/10/2018 08:07

Me too on my Huawei.

I just reload the page and it seems to do the trick, but it is dead annoying.

MyGhoulMumsnet · 22/10/2018 08:07

Thanks for reporting this and for bearing with us - we've escalated it.

Thanks also for letting us know the device and browser that the issue appears on - this type of information is a big help for the devs to get a head start on finding and fixing.

pollyhampton · 22/10/2018 08:10

Galaxy and chrome, doesn't happen on Samsung internet.

MemoryOfSleep · 22/10/2018 08:11

It's on chrome for me.

Instacrumb · 22/10/2018 08:11

Happens to me too on Samsung chrome. So annoying!

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 22/10/2018 08:12

Had it for a couple of weeks now, along with chunks of text being repeated through the thread. Am on Samsung Galaxy S6, usng chrome.

OnlyBejoking · 22/10/2018 08:13

Galaxy s6 and chrome here. It is horrendous and driving me off MN at the moment.

BarbaraofSevillle · 22/10/2018 08:13

This happens to me occasionally on a Huawei P8 lite 2017 with Android 7.0 and Google Chrome browser.

I always assumed it was because I had multiple tabs open and there was too much information to load up properly, or that it's a bit of a crap phone.

User5trillion · 22/10/2018 08:13

Happening to me too. V annoying

DamsonGin · 22/10/2018 08:14

Huawei and Chrome for me.

MemoryOfSleep · 22/10/2018 08:14

@DamsonGin

The best I can think of is rueful, which means 'expressing sorrow or regret, especially in a wry or humorous way'. So you can have a rueful grin, like a dark chuckle. Not exactly what you're looking for though.

On a side note it took three attempts to post this due to the glitch! Halloween Angry

Yep happening to me on samsung S7

YreneTowers · 22/10/2018 08:17

Yes, it happens on my Huawei (VNS-L31), using Chrome.

Josiebloggs · 22/10/2018 08:20

I thought it was just my phone. I have a samsung.

DamsonGin · 22/10/2018 08:20

Rueful is definitely a good word but not quite right, I'll take that as my word-to-get-into-work for this week though.
