Black bars blocking MN threads (mobile site)?

MemoryOfSleep · 22/10/2018 07:51

To be honest, I'm more irritated that mumsnet haven't fixed it yet. Started getting this a few days ago on my phone. Black sections blocking out parts or the whole of threads on the mobile site. Had a search and apparently a thread was started about it in site stuff on the seventh of October! Mumsnet said they'd take a look at it but no word for a while now. Seemed to be Samsung devices mainly but also a few Sony. AIBU to use this thread to see how widespread the problem is and urge MN to do something about it?

(Hopefully not a TAAT because this is about the problem not the other thread. Just mentioned the other thread to avoid suggestions that I post in site stuff and to highlight the duration of the issue.)

I'm getting it, too - Nokia TA 1020 and Chrome.

MissusGeneHunt · 22/10/2018 23:12

Still doing it... Worse than before. @MNHQ... Please can you help?!

Veryberrycherry · 22/10/2018 23:19

Same here. Huawei Honor 9. Chrome. Mobile site. I think its to do with the adverts.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 22/10/2018 23:56

Definitely related to M&S ads. Tell them to big off with their dodginess!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 22/10/2018 23:57
  • Bog off.

Sigh.

LudoFriend · 23/10/2018 00:12

Same issue. Samsung S7 Edge and Chrome.

Instacrumb · 23/10/2018 08:38

Yes definitely related to the ads across the top of the screen!

DontCallMeCharlotte · 23/10/2018 23:16

Really bad tonight Angry

OhEctoplasmOnIt · 23/10/2018 23:20

Happening on my Huawei p20 lite on Google chrome. It's making the website barely use able and very annoying.

MyOtherProfile · 23/10/2018 23:21

Horrible. I'm getting it too. Samsung asand

MyOtherProfile · 23/10/2018 23:21

That was meant to say Samsung and chrome but the black box appeared and I couldn't type any more.

JourneyToThePlacentaOfTheEarth · 23/10/2018 23:22

Yep. For quite a while actually samsung s8. Eek it's happening now so can't see what I'm typing 😡

ClenchQueen · 23/10/2018 23:28

I'm getting it too. Relieved it's not a fault with my phone. The M&S ad causes it - starts off as a black square where the ad is then as I scroll chunks of the thread disappear are covered in black, then bits of the thread repeats itself, sometimes overlaid. Moto c plus using Chrome. It's a total pain in the arse.

SuchAToDo · 23/10/2018 23:29

I get the black bars too on threads...I found refreshing the screen by clicking on the web address to reload the page solves the issue for a while and it reloads without the bars

AnotherPidgey · 23/10/2018 23:33

My previous attempt...

Black bars blocking MN threads (mobile site)?
ClenchQueen · 23/10/2018 23:38

I've found refreshing mostly solves it. However doing so for every page is a waste of time and annoying when I'm halfway through it. And I've just been on another thread, got the black bar, refreshed and there it was again. Really can't be arsed so will just go to a site other than Mumsnet that works properly.

jgjgjgjgjg · 23/10/2018 23:40

Samsung S8+ and Chrome here. It's only started in the last few days.

Vampiratequeen · 23/10/2018 23:41

I keep getting this, when it happens on my Samsung the posts all merge too, it just happened to me now, I had to type my post out again because it did it when I was typing. I'm on Chrome.

Onecutefox · 23/10/2018 23:42

I have thought it was gone but now I have it again. Also sometimes it doesn't let me finish a word.

Courtney555 · 23/10/2018 23:47

Happens on my Sony experia

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 24/10/2018 00:18

I thought it was just me? I have a Huawei + Chrome

OhEctoplasmOnIt · 24/10/2018 08:04

Worse than ever today and has taken 5 attempts to write this

knittingdad · 24/10/2018 08:09

Chrome on Huawei with M&S ads.

I've also had it occur on other websites (the Guardian, WordPress blogs) so I assumed it was a problem with the ad interaction with the browser.

RebootYourEngine · 24/10/2018 08:27

I thought it was my phone. I am sure it has something to do with the adverts. Refreshing it or coming off the page and back on helps.
