to ask if you wear leggings?

My DH keeps making comments about my leggings - he says things like "are all your other clothes in the wash?"

I always wear a longish, flowy top which covers my hips and bum. When I ask him why he's making these comments he just says he's joking and I need to get a sense of humour!

Are leggings just for very slim women?

Wear whatever you want, if it fits you then you can wear it!

SequinsOnEverything · 07/10/2018 09:48

Only ever under dresses or at home. For me leggings are not suitable bottoms unless you are going to workout.

CharlotteWebb · 07/10/2018 09:48

Pippi - yes thank you, I do wear what I want, I'm wondering if he's trying to tell me in a subtle way that I've put on weight! - Maybe I should be wearing clothes for a fuller figure - but I do like my leggings!

Are leggings just for very slim women?

How have you got this from My DH keeps making comments about my leggings - he says things like "are all your other clothes in the wash?" or is he also making comments about how you look in them? If not, it sounds like he's just teasing you for wearing the same clothes day after day. (No judgement from me btw, I wear jeans every day)

JacquesHammer · 07/10/2018 09:49

When I ask him why he's making these comments he just says he's joking and I need to get a sense of humour!

Have you told him that humour is supposed to be funny.

OP YANBU. Your OH sounds immature.

struggling - I do have other leggings in different colours (not just the same ones) , yes he's probably teasing me! I'm maybe a bit sensitive because I think I've put on a few pounds recently

It’s quite a reach to think your husband making comments about very obvious casual clothing to leggings are only for slim women Hmm

NotUmbongoUnchained · 07/10/2018 09:50

Personally I think they’re weird on anyone over the age of 10!

CharlotteWebb · 07/10/2018 09:51

Yes I agree - he can be immature! But there again I can too

They are fine! As long as you are wearing them with a top which goes over your bum (or you are super fit) then entirely acceptable. I wear them heaps with dresses in winter

CharlotteWebb · 07/10/2018 09:52

NotUmbungo - Aw really? Do you wear trousers and skirts then? Just wondering because I thought they were fashionable for women too - but I', not known for my fashion sense lol

Very occasionally, but try not to out. I've had too recently as had a hysterectomy but always wear a long top, I do feel a little scruffy though. That being said it's what you are comfortable wearing and being in and there are some lovely tops in the shops that go with leggings

userabcname · 07/10/2018 09:52

Wearing them right now. I'm a size 14 and definitely need to shift a couple of stone but they are comfy. As you say, team with a long top or dress and it's fine.

MrsStrowman · 07/10/2018 09:54

More so now I'm pregnant because they're comfy and I have maternity ones, before they were for the gym, gardening or just being at home. I prefer skinny jeans or if it's winter and I wear a dress and boots I'll wear thick tights or woolly tights. I know lots of people who wear them and look nice though, I just found they'd slip down a lot or go baggy on the knees but that's more about me than leggings!

CharlotteWebb · 07/10/2018 09:54

I agree the 'leggings for slim women in my OP' was coming more from me as I know I have put on some weight recently. I think I am a bit self conscious and that coupled with his jokey comments has made me think about my leggings too deeply!

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/10/2018 09:55

All the time.

Short ones under skirts and dresses in summer. Long ones in boots in winter, I don't like tights.

Why? Modesty, comfort and because I want to!

KarrisWhiteOak · 07/10/2018 09:55

I wear leggings. ‘Heavy’ think ones from H&M in black. Also with long tops to cover bottom area. I leave the house in the too. I find them comfy and I don’t look scruffy.
Size 14. So not fat either.
If you like them wear them. Start to joke with him about something he weats?

SnuggyBuggy · 07/10/2018 09:55

I wear them as an alternative to tights under dresses, much more comfortable.

LittleBookofCalm · 07/10/2018 09:56

lots of people wear leggings and long flowery tops. I am not brave enough to

LittleCandle · 07/10/2018 09:56

Wear what you want. As long as you are comfy and like them, that is all that matters. I do hate the people who don't cover their bum, though, as I think leggings are designed for wearing under tunics.

seven201 · 07/10/2018 09:57

I wouldn't wear every day leggings unless in place of tights. To me they're for exercise or kids. If you like them though just carry on.

GlitteryFluff · 07/10/2018 09:57

Just make sure they're the correct size and thick material. Doesn't matter if you're skinny, plus size, average etc there is nothing worse than someone bending over in them and you seeing all their underwear/bum/white sanpro through them because they're so thin!

TomHardysNextWife · 07/10/2018 09:58

They're fine as long as they aren't see through, your arse is covered and they fit well. I live in mine or jeggings.

Rebooting · 07/10/2018 09:58

I don’t understand why he gets to comment on your clothes.

Do you want him to stop doing that?
