to ask if you wear leggings?

My DH keeps making comments about my leggings - he says things like "are all your other clothes in the wash?"

I always wear a longish, flowy top which covers my hips and bum. When I ask him why he's making these comments he just says he's joking and I need to get a sense of humour!

Are leggings just for very slim women?

I love leggings! Staple weekend wear, only ever with a giant sweatshirt and trainers.

Literally could not give a single fuck what anyone thinks I look like in them, they’re super comfy and I think I look awesome.

CandleWithHair · 07/10/2018 11:49

Especially not a man, cheers forallthesaints

noeffingidea · 07/10/2018 11:50

The point about not being aware of weight gain if you wear leggings everyday instead of jeans or regular trousers is a valid one, same with any loose or stretchy garments. I get round that by weighing myself and measuring my waist once a week or so.
As for being 'flattering' , that isn't really a factor for me when I buy my clothes or get dressed in the morning, and I'm sure it isn't for many other people.

confusedmomm · 07/10/2018 11:51

I wear them a lot!

SachaStark · 07/10/2018 11:52

No. Horrid, sloppy-looking things, and the minute you've washed them once, they start to lose their colour and bag on the knees or thighs, making them look even worse. I've tried them a few times, but I always find I don't feel my best in them, so why wear something that doesn't make me feel great?

Far better to have a pair of skinny-cut black trousers, or well-fitted high-waist skinny jeans for me.

NutElla5x · 07/10/2018 11:54

Leggings are the best things ever to be invented as far as I'm concerned. They're easily washed and dried, don't need ironing, take up hardly any room in your drawers and are just so so comfy. Also if you get a little hole or something in a pair or they make lovely comfy pj bottoms too.

mostdays · 07/10/2018 11:55

Yes. They're comfy and versatile.

Aeroflotgirl · 07/10/2018 11:58

These are just people's opinions, wear what makes you comfy and happy. Wow the fashion police are out today.

OrcinusOrca · 07/10/2018 12:00

I don't wear them. I think they're unflattering with tops that don't cover backsides, unless they are more jeggings than leggings. I do own some jeggings. Just not a fan of leggings really.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/10/2018 12:02

Start bagging an losing their colour after one wash?

You've been unlucky! Even Asda's own stay lok

to ask if you wear leggings?
CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/10/2018 12:03

Well! That worked well Smile

Gizzygizmo · 07/10/2018 12:10

I’m sure a lot of you saying that their man shouldn’t have an opinion, don’t have an opinion on what their man wears?
If mine started wearing jogging bottoms most of the time I would question it

BrightonGallery7 · 07/10/2018 12:11

I don’t think any woman looks good in leggings: worn alone or under a dress etc.
I have never possessed a pair. It’s a dreadful look.

MaisyPops · 07/10/2018 12:13

Gizzygizmo
I'm my DH started wearing scruffy clothing, bobbly tracksuit bottoms etc, things that clearly show his boxers etc then I'd say something.
Equally, I dont wear scruffy clothing, leggings so thin my pants are on show etc.

I'm no fan of being done up all the time but it doesn't take much to look presentable. It's possible to wear leggings and be presentable though.

Beebopdooowopdo · 07/10/2018 12:14

I don’t feel scruffy in mine. I wear them instead of tights so always under a long tunic top or a dress. With ballet flats or knee high boots. Love them in the autumn 🍂

Annalogy · 07/10/2018 12:14

I'm at home chilling in my maternity leggings 4 months postpartum.

Wear whatever you're comfortable in. Life's too short.

Beebopdooowopdo · 07/10/2018 12:15

Brighton, why is it a terrible look? How are they that different to thick black tights? I agree it’s not great as trousers but as tights 🤷‍♀️

BrightonGallery7 · 07/10/2018 12:16

I don’t get why women who want to wear skirts or dresses don’t wear thick / opaque tights under them instead of ugly leggings.Confused

BrightonGallery7 · 07/10/2018 12:17

Do they have something against covered FEET??

Lethaldrizzle · 07/10/2018 12:17

So Elle McPherson doesn't look good in leggings

MrsPMT · 07/10/2018 12:17

Don't really wear them, more of a jeans person. I have some for gym and for wearing with short skirts but hardly wear them. Don't think they look good on bigger women but if you're not dressing to look good who cares? My lazy clothes are joggers rather than leggings and they definitely don't look good! But wearing for comfort not style when I wear my joggers. And leggings are not trousers, apart from the posh gym ones for exercise.

Zoflorabore · 07/10/2018 12:17

To the man on here, cba to look for your name- are you a trend setter yourself? A Vogue model? Or simply you give an opinion of something you've ( presumably ) never worn yourself?

Try them, you may be converted.

mostdays · 07/10/2018 12:18

I love when leggings haters come out. They're so funny Grin

CuriousaboutSamphire · 07/10/2018 12:18

Let me see...

I don't wear black leggings...
I don't like tights, thick or otherwise...
I don't think leggings look ugly....

I don't get why some posters are quite so determined to be so judegmental...

SachaStark · 07/10/2018 12:18

Yes, they lose their colour quickly, from three different brands I tried. The minute you step out into proper natural light, they don't look to be "proper" deep black, and I can't stand that horrible faded look. It isn't smart at all, for me. If I want something thicker in the autumn, I buy fleece-lined black tights so I can attain a true black to match my skirts or dresses.
