to ask if you wear leggings?

My DH keeps making comments about my leggings - he says things like "are all your other clothes in the wash?"

I always wear a longish, flowy top which covers my hips and bum. When I ask him why he's making these comments he just says he's joking and I need to get a sense of humour!

Are leggings just for very slim women?

Just asked my husband.... He said more than likely your husband prefers you in something basically not leggings. He also said men don't tend to notice the gain of a few pounds (I gained 17lbs in my last pregnancy last year and he was shocked thought it was only about 10) so he was more than likely making a joke comment to cover he hates you wearing leggings. However my husband said leggings are horrible on women and he would hate me in them yet if I wore them he would keep his trap shut as I hate his green army style combats and I'd just turn that fucker round. Hope this helps x

I think leggings are fine. Just choose the colour carefully...

2muchstress · 07/10/2018 10:21

Too much advertising for leggings at end of each page. Is this the whole point of this thread........

YetAnotherSpartacus · 07/10/2018 10:21

An ex used to complain about my leggings. Apparently they 'stop access' and are the sexual equivalent of a straight jacket.

QueenOfMyWorld · 07/10/2018 10:22

Id take his comment as he thinks you wear them too often rather than hinting that you've put weight on.If you wear them a lot it's a fairly reasonable joke

noeffingidea · 07/10/2018 10:23

I wear leggings all the time in the winter, and sometimes in the summer as well. I don't have any skinny jeans at all although I have recently discovered the wonder that is jeggings.
I wear them because they're comfortable and couldn't care less what other people think of them. I'm neither slim nor fat, I always wear a top that covers my bum and big black granny knickers because I don't want to accidentally show anything. All mine are cheapies from Primark.

VladmirsPoutine · 07/10/2018 10:24

I do wear leggings but I have 'home' leggings and 'outdoors' leggings. My home leggings have seen better days if at all they ever did. My outdoor leggings are quite thick, restrictive and robust - they go well with pretty much everything I wear. Granted I'm very thin so I don't necessarily consider leggings from a figure-flattering point of view. It's purely about comfort. Frankly the second I get in the door I put on a very ancient over-sized jumper and leggings. Your H is BU. You're at home not at the county golf club.

Pinkprincess1978 · 07/10/2018 10:25

I wear them in place of tights with dresses as larger and can't find tights that fit well. I will wear them with very long tops that cover my bum.

bubblyone · 07/10/2018 10:25

I actually wear leggings more now that I'm too fat than I did when I was lean - don't feel good in jeans or trousers at the moment! Thick Gap black leggings usually, with a long top (to thigh level) or tunic. I wouldn't necessarily wear to work but think they're fine once bum is covered. It's not like anyone is seeing anything more than wearing skinny jeans. And more appropriate than if I was wearing trousers with a short top and had my fat ass and thighs torturing people. Love dresses, but not always convenient.

Bluntness100 · 07/10/2018 10:27

Jeggings might be a good alternative if you're looking for something similar but different, if you see what I mean.

ChateauRouge · 07/10/2018 10:28

I've never worn leggings, not even for the gym. They don't look comfy at all- they look clingy and as if they'd be irritating, and I think they're just for small children, tbh.
I'm a 8/10 so they'd probably look ok.
DD had them when she was little, but not since about 8yo or something.
I think she prefers looser clothes too.
Neither of us wear jeans either... I think we both have sensitivity issues with clingy clothing!

TeachesOfPeaches · 07/10/2018 10:29

No. Don't think that they flatter anyone of any size.

Laureline · 07/10/2018 10:30

I only wear them when pregnant, but I am not the fashion police and nor is your husband.

Singinghollybob · 07/10/2018 10:30

I would assume if they're the only type of clothes you wear he's reading about the lack of variety in your wardrobe rather than your size.

Singinghollybob · 07/10/2018 10:30

*teasing not reading

Lethaldrizzle · 07/10/2018 10:31

I look great in leggings

AuntyJackiesBrothersSistersBoy · 07/10/2018 10:32

I wear every day, with long butt covering jumpers. At my age, they’re just for walking a very muddy dog through fields. They’re practical, unlike jeans they can be whipped off and washed each day and don’t take forever to dry.

I think they look fine with long knitwear. Tell him to give it a rest, OP. I’m presuming HE’S perfect? Looks a bit like David Beckham in his fashion sense?

CluedoAddict · 07/10/2018 10:34

They don't look good on anyone over 16.

MsHopey · 07/10/2018 10:34

I have quite a few in black but basically use them as a substitute as tights as they're comfier, warmer and don't show my cellulite.
If I wearing tights with the top would be too revealing, I wouldn't wear leggings, I'd wear jeans.

KeepServingTheDrinks · 07/10/2018 10:35

I wear them under skirts all the time.

But that's partly because I'm quite tall and skirts which are a nice respectable knee-length on others only just cover my bum and as I can see 50 approaching over the horizon, I've decided I'm too old for short skirts

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 07/10/2018 10:35

Leggings were the only thing I could fit into when pregnant but I would wear a long top covering the bum. I don't think they are very flattering on anyone unless they are very slim.

Mabelface · 07/10/2018 10:37

Love my leggings. I'm a 12 and wear them with a t-shirt, black cardi and cute skirts. The outfit is completed with docs.

Lethaldrizzle · 07/10/2018 10:40

So all those women who wear leggings for sport look awful? I keep fit and have great legs and arse and am over 16.

purplelila2 · 07/10/2018 10:41

What's wrong with leggings ?
i wear them all the time when not at work.
With short tops long tops jumpers I don't care ?
think they lool great

Bombardier25966 · 07/10/2018 10:42

What's this thing about hiding your bum? A well structured pair of leggings should enhance it, like skinny jeans do.
