to ask if you wear leggings?

My DH keeps making comments about my leggings - he says things like "are all your other clothes in the wash?"

I always wear a longish, flowy top which covers my hips and bum. When I ask him why he's making these comments he just says he's joking and I need to get a sense of humour!

Are leggings just for very slim women?

It sounds as if the OP knows exactly what she should do.

Threads like this make me wonder why some women insist that there are no difference between the sexes. As if men would get so worked up over such trivia. Is it because of conditioning that we get so worked up about clothes, or can we not help it.......makes you wonder.

Dawn, women are judged. It’s ridiculous, I agree. Often women judging other women, are the worst. I was I. Town recently and a woman I knew asked me, was I taking HRT or had I finished “with all that, now?” She then to,d me I was getting fat. Apparently, everyone thought so but (she said) “I’m the only one who will say it”.

Women judging women. Sadly, I have to say, they’re right but there are myriad reasons why. I didn’t go into it 😐

I wear leggings and am fat. I personally think that leggings coupled with a longer top look nice and arewuite flattering.
If YOU are unhappy with your weight do something about it for YOU. Don’t feel self conscious about it though - life is too bloody short.
I like to wear leggings as I find them comfy - and they look nicer than a pair of jeans where my muffing top makes any top I wear stick out - I simply can’t get a pair of jeans or trousers that fit me in both my waist AND my bum.

I'm all for wear what you want but for me personally, leggings are for girls or sports training.
I hate to say it but I have only ever seen them looking good on super tall and slim women and even then the cut has to be perfect.
It's the same with skinny jeans and all - come on, unless you have stick legs, TINY bum and killer heels on, your rear end looks like it's busting to escape.
If you need to be wearing long and floaty tops over your rear end then your rear end is saying 'keep me covered Sista'.
Now, a killer cut pair of slim leg bootcuts on the other hand can do wonders.....

No, never. I'm slim but properly pear shaped do they do me no favours at all. I don't think they flatter many women, tbh, but if you like them and they're comfy - go for it!

I'm in my 60s and am wearing leggings under a dress now. Warm and comfortable and soon I will put my trainers on to walk the dog. I don't really care whether other people think I should wear them or not.

I'm too lumpy to wear leggings, I think they look fine for those with a smooth outline, otherwise a lazy alternative to a good fitting pair of jeans, which may not be quite so comfy but with hide my cellulite and smooth out the bumps if they fit well.

Leggings are for the gym!

I only wear them under dresses or when working out. But I have really fat legs and don't want to look like Vicky Pollard.

I’m a size 12 and I wouldn’t wear them as I don’t think they’re flattering on anyone other than super slim people. But that’s my choice... not something my DH has said!

i wear them coz theyre comfortable i dont gt all this u cant wear them unless yo9ur working out or theyre so last year nonsense

OneGift. Thanks for that. You’re exactly the kind of person I spoke of above. I’m a 14-16. I wear mine despite being broad of beam because I can’t do killer heels and jeans are often uncomfortable on my scar from renal surgery.

I have some super thick ones that are more like joggers I wear as trousers. They’re hard to come by though.
Unfortunately jeans cause a lot of joint problems and just aren’t worth the pain!
I’m a size 14 and if someone made a comment about me wearing them it would hurt because I don’t have a lot of clothing options!

I just drove past a woman wearing leggings...I stopped at some traffic lights, she walked in front of my car, and with the headlights they were completely see through and I could full on see her blue thong . She had a gorgeous figure, but for me leggings are an alternative to tights, not trousers.

Depends on the leggings though. I have a couple of black pairs bought from Tesco when I saw the great reviews last year. They’re good quality, thick, not at all see-through, don’t show a VPL. Of course they’ve disappeared from stores this year.

Isn't it odd that there is such a high demand for non see through leggings, and they are a bastard to find in the shops.

Everyday. They're all I wear on my bottom half. I'm fat and they are comfy.

Leggings are awful in my opinion, unless they are the gym style ones, and you are actually going the gym or doing exercise, or as a substitute for tights.
I see lots of overweight women wearing them and they are stretched within and inch of their lives and you can see through them.
If you like leggings and are happy in them, then wear them, it's each to their own. If everyone liked the same, life would be very boring.

I've bought some tights on the back of this thread. Will see what I prefer with my long tunics.
