Wedding v missing cat - WWYD?

Twotailed · 23/08/2018 11:36

My best friend is getting married on Saturday in a town about an hour away and I am supposed to be travelling through this afternoon to help her with venue set up. However, my beloved cat has gone missing (totally out of character, very very worried). WIBU to not go until this evening or even tomorrow, so I can stay here to look for my cat?

I am MOH so I feel like it’s terrible if I don’t go today. I’m not the only person helping and I don’t think they strictly need me, but I know my friend is very excited for me to arrive and wants me there.

WWYD?

That is wonderful news😁. I am sure she is being spoiled tonight!

Pearlsofmadness · 23/08/2018 23:03

Great news! Phew! Pets are family and it would break my heart if my cat went missing. So pleased she’s home.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 23/08/2018 23:04

So happy to read this. Now you can really enjoy the wedding (after a lot of cuddles obviously)

diamantegal · 23/08/2018 23:05

Been keeping an eye on this in the hope she would turn up - so glad there's a happy ending.

And if your friend is any kind of friend, of course she'd understand - ignore the people saying otherwise. I've been with DH for 20 years - the only time I've seen him cry is when the two previous cats died - they are a huge part of your family and if they're missing, you worry - it's completely natural.

Now off to check our two have come in for supper and bed!

Aprilshowersinaugust · 23/08/2018 23:05

Ah a happy ending.

I'm glad she's back! Enjoy the wedding :)
I've even had to update my DH, very pleased she's home.

Twotailed · 23/08/2018 23:08

Treaclepie19 aww!

Thanks so much everyone - it’s so true, they really are part of the family. So lovely to have her back (purring like a jet engine on my lap!)

I just skimmed through the thread just to find out if you'd found her! I'm so glad you did! I bet she got trapped in someone's shed! Poor thing!

123bananas · 23/08/2018 23:11

Aw glad she is back. Bet she is so relieved to be home.

One of our fur babies (shy and sensitive type) refused to eat or leave the house when we were away recently. Since we returned she has been so clingy. If she has been traumatised by her experience it might be best to keep her in until you are back from the wedding so she feels more safe and secure. The feliway plug ins help with anxiety too.

Glad she is back safely. Awwww

Someone I know moved home, and their young cat vanished soon afterwards. A month later, they got a phone call from their old neighbour. The cat had made his way across town and arrived at their former house.

LuluJakey1 · 23/08/2018 23:26

Oh phew! So pleased. Little minx.

SirVixofVixHall · 23/08/2018 23:29

Oh hurrah !! I am so pleased for you and your little cat op. Maybe she was chased by a dog or a fox, had a fright and was too scared to try and get back the same way. 🍾🍾🍾🍾

ArmySal · 23/08/2018 23:30

Yay, so pleased to read she’s back before bed Smile

Twotailed · 23/08/2018 23:32

I think she must have had a fright. There is a very territorial ginger cat on our street - he’s usually very friendly to people but he marks everything and when I was out earlier with some tuna he quite savagely attacked my feet. I wonder if he chased my girl (who wouldn’t stand up for herself) and she was then to scared to come back for a while?

MissConductUS · 23/08/2018 23:35

Lovely news, thanks so much for updating us.

It could well have been the ginger. Cats are terribly territorial with other cats.

When you get attacked like that it's usually because they're in "battle mode" after a fight with another cat or animal.

UrsulaPandress · 23/08/2018 23:35

Hoo fucking ray.

Bastard cats.

Bastard bloody animals.

My cat never strays far.....until I really need her not to . Honestly they can sense when you're about to go. I don't start packing bags until I know he cat is locked in a room. This summer I brought our suitcases down a week early to try and throw her off the scent but she still vanished the day we were leaving. Thoughts we were going to have book an new later flight for dh until kind cattery offered to come and find her. I'm very sure she was laughing from the bushes

SandAndSea · 23/08/2018 23:37

Brilliant news! Really pleased for you.

CallipygousElephant · 23/08/2018 23:39

So relieved for you OP, and now you'll be able to properly enjoy the wedding too knowing she is safe!

sillysausage16 · 23/08/2018 23:40

My cat disappeared for a week when I moved house, he had made his way back to the old house 2 miles away. When I got my boys I was adamant to have them as house cats but I soon realised how against their nature this was and that they need to roam.

Cats aren't actually our pets they choose to live with us Grin

ThistleAmore · 23/08/2018 23:45

So glad to hear your mogs is home!

If you were my MoH, I'd have cancelled my wedding to come and help you look. Wink

Sakura7 · 23/08/2018 23:45

Oh that is great news, glad you found her so soon and now you can enjoy the wedding. They do love to keep us on our toes!

FurryDice · 23/08/2018 23:46

Oh thank goodness she’s back. I’m so relieved for both you and her, OP.
