Otherwise, every man that I’ve met that’s been say 30-40 who wore one, has been a twat. Usually arrogant, think they’re a bit posh, above everyone else. It’s such a look at me piece. Often they’re worn by people who are odd too, thinking they’re “classy”.

AIBU to loathe these things. I see them and cringe.

Panama hats are ok, as long as they don't look too new and the man is over 30.
In my part of Yorkshire men put on a wool flat cap somewhere around their 55th birthday and on it stays. I think it's a bye law.

Linen flat caps are very popular In Europe.

Red trousers and mustard coloured trousers is the Cotswold uniform (often accompanied by Panama hats). Nothing wrong with the hats, something wrong with the trousers.

Nothing wrong with wine or mustard cords but rarely with a Panama.
