Otherwise, every man that I’ve met that’s been say 30-40 who wore one, has been a twat. Usually arrogant, think they’re a bit posh, above everyone else. It’s such a look at me piece. Often they’re worn by people who are odd too, thinking they’re “classy”.

AIBU to loathe these things. I see them and cringe.

My dad is a grade a twat but he wears one as he is completely bald and would still burn if he wore a baseball cap as they don't cover his whole head.

I'm all for a cap'n's hat, but most twats can't carry them off, so a twat in a Panama will do. Twats in baseball caps = nope.

I have a drizabone hat for walking the dog in the rain. It keeps my hair dry and doesn’t give me hat hair.

I think you are being very unreasonable! A Panama hat is a very stylish alternative to a shitty baseball cap.
My H wears one on holiday to stop his head from burning and offering some shade while reading his very intellectual books 😉

I've liked a bowler hat but my head never fits them, there's a lump at the back of my head and it makes hat finding hard.

My DH (43) wears one and he's not even bald! I don't think he's a twat, but who am I to say? He also wears deck shoes but then he works on and around boats a lot. So yes, YABVU.

Both my DS have them. They look gorgeous in them and not at all twat like. They are 8 and 12.

Not sure what else men should wear in hot weather. Men in baseball caps look far more twatty IMO. My FIL wears a scruffy old cotton sunhat thing, looks awful, not necessarily twatty.

I think if you’re very obviously a mature man, a Dad or a grandad or someone who’d step in in a crisis they look good. On a young man they look very twatish, like playing at being a grown up. Like a moustsch on a young teenager.
