Mature escort

Just after people's opinions on how they'd feel living opposite a very busy adult escort. Living in a quiet cul de sac but our house is the only one that would directly be able to see what's going on (worked it out when off on maternity leave before baby was here, lots of time on my hands!)

Yes I absolutely would rather pack shelves, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I haven't had a stick up my arse for quite a long time actually, not so sure I can say the same about the woman over road.

That’s probably extra, though.

FrancinePefko42 · 15/07/2018 20:01

God forbid you ever find your self in a position where you would have to work as an escort to support yourself. Oh wait you are probably one of those who would much rather pack shelves

Economics 101 tells you that the basics of any business / service are supply and demand

Males have evolved to be driven by a desire for variety in sexual partners. The more the better. Females have evolved to be discerning in their choice of mate.

Basic supply and demand means that in human society prostitution has been, is, and forever will be, a fact of life. Even in hunter gatherer societies - the best hunters have the most sexual partners (even though they haven't yet invented money)

I do think she should be paying her taxes though. Inland Revenue is your best bet.

Don't knock till you've tried it

PortiaCastis · 15/07/2018 20:05

How does anyone know if the person is paying taxes or not

Bluelady · 15/07/2018 20:10

They don't. Assumption based on prejudice.

PortiaCastis · 15/07/2018 20:12

Yes you'd have thought the bank account was readily available to peruse

FrancinePefko42 · 15/07/2018 20:15

We don't. But a quick call to the Inland Revenue line is all that's required.

She might be making £800-£1500 per day. Some of this should be going to fund the NHS and making sure our boys in Iraq have decent boots and body armour

PortiaCastis · 15/07/2018 20:17

They'd need a name and proof

nicebitofquiche · 15/07/2018 20:18

I wouldn't like living opposite a prostitute OP. Especially if my children were going to be playing outside. There was a local fb page where someone in the same situation took photos of the punters cars and number plates and posted them online. I wonder what happened to those men they outed? The page was taken down pretty quickly and I'm not suggesting you do that!

FrancinePefko42 · 15/07/2018 20:22

Er no they would not. They would just need an address and some evidence of your suspicionsite that a business was being conducted from a residential property. You wouldn't even need to state your suspicion that the business was sexual in nature.

The rest of us work hard enough to hand over 50% of everything we earn to the government.

Why shouldn't she?

Bluelady · 15/07/2018 20:22

"Our boys" could easily be her best customers.

PortiaCastis · 15/07/2018 20:24
Grin
FrancinePefko42 · 15/07/2018 20:27

Our boys could easily be her best customers

I'm sure. And why not? They deserve it.

But she needs to be paying her taxes.

PortiaCastis · 15/07/2018 20:28

But you don't know she isn't paying her taxes do you

FrancinePefko42 · 15/07/2018 20:30

No we don't. But there is no harm in making sure

PortiaCastis · 15/07/2018 20:31

Making sure that an unknown person is paying unknown taxes

LOliver123 · 15/07/2018 20:33

I must admit it would bother me, especially living in a quiet family area

Nicknacky · 15/07/2018 20:33

Only on mumsnet do posters worry if a prostitute is paying tax on her earnings!

JustGettingStarted · 15/07/2018 20:33

Who's paying 50% of their income in taxes?!

JacquesHammer · 15/07/2018 20:34

But there is no harm in making sure

Would you be quite to fervent in your desire to check every person working from home and their tax situation? Or is it just due to the alleged nature of her income?

JustGettingStarted · 15/07/2018 20:35

Let's all report our cleaners, mobile hairdressers, gardeners and window cleaners while we're at it!

Bluelady · 15/07/2018 20:36

It's a "moral" judgement. By someone who is apparently sufficiently well paid to pay 50% tax.

FrancinePefko42 · 15/07/2018 20:36

Why is she unknown? We have an address, a website and observations of a neighbour. That's all the Inland Revenue will need to look into the case further. They have secured millions in unpaid taxes in previous cases with far less initial evidence than this.

Bluelady · 15/07/2018 20:38

Fortunately "we" don't have damned thing. And hopefully OP will mind her own business.
