Because I have no idea how they would do that.

I think it's because the vote was god knows how long ago and it's just rumbling on and on. I think people (not me) probably unrealistically expected it to be an almost instant thing so they're now getting frustrated. Me personally, I just have enough things already going on in my own little orbit, that I just ignore the whole lot of it.

MessyMeTarr · 11/07/2018 10:19

It means they don't understand and never did, the consequences or process of leaving the EU, which is entirely why we should never have had the disastrous referendum in the first place.

BertrandRussell · 11/07/2018 10:21

Storm-how did you think the process was going to work?

LucheroTena · 11/07/2018 10:22

What messy said. The problem with putting anything complex to the general public is that mostly they’re not very bright. Or interested.

Iamclearlyamug · 11/07/2018 10:22

it's probably more they want us to get on with striking a deal - that's my take on it. we're more than 2 years into the 3 year negotiation and what have they achieved? absolutely fuck all, so yeah i really think they should bloody get on with it. I say that as someone who wanted to remain, but the country voted to leave so instead of arguing about it they should focus on getting bloody organised

Lotsofdigestives · 11/07/2018 10:24

Because most people are actual idiots who have no idea what leaving real EU entails, as if Britain can just grab its coat and say ‘ta ra!’

NataliaOsipova · 11/07/2018 10:27

Perfectly put....!

bellinisurge · 11/07/2018 10:35

Because people are idiots.

I also wish it was all over with but I know that is not how A50 works. I also wish it would rain.

Childrenofthesun · 11/07/2018 10:39

Some people think we have already left.

It's going to be a nasty shock when people realise things won't just be exactly as they were before but with fewer Polish people.

Storm4star · 11/07/2018 10:54

@BertrandRussell

I knew it would take time but, as I say, I can't bring myself to get worked up about it either way. In the time Brexit has been ongoing I've had a marriage break down and been the victim of a serious crime, so I really just don't think about it. Selfish as it is, I'm just focused on my life now and don't have the energy to worry about anything outside of that.

CaptainHammer · 11/07/2018 10:55

messy worded it perfectly

MessyMeTarr · 11/07/2018 14:46

Essentially, we are all sleepwalking towards very hard times.

I've seen several very misinformed people on the news today spouting nonsense along the lines of 'get on with it, why is it taking so long or the EU are being so meeeean' and it absolutely infuriates me.

NataliaOsipova · 11/07/2018 16:25

Likewise the "I just think we'd be better off on our own" bollocks. Put that in a sentence which also includes the phrases "current account deficit" and "the economics of international trade" and maybe you'd have a point to make. Otherwise, you sound like an ill informed twit.

Harpingon · 11/07/2018 16:29

It means we're bloody bored of constant threads like this.......

FridayThirteenth · 11/07/2018 16:57

People are bloody bored yes, but they will probably be the first to whinge when the consequences hit them.

We have the Sun of all papers with articles about how the government is preparing to stockpile food in case of no deal brexit (which suddenly seems a lot more likely). If this materialises this will in all likelihood mean rationing.

But everyone is happy with their head in the sand thinking this kind of shit could never happen to them. But the chances are increasing whilst our incompetent government falls apart.

Carnegiecrumbs · 11/07/2018 17:10

40% of my business is exporting to Europe. I have just committed to Jan-June 2019 buying with the manufacturing factories. A bit of knowledge as to how I will be trading would be appreciated! Is that a concrete enough example. 2 million pounds expenditure and having to guess. Normal in my line of work but predicting sales, fixing prices and trends in a market that is as stable as jelly, with completely unknown customs rules is becoming less of an art and more of a shit please do a thing just tell me.

Carnegiecrumbs · 11/07/2018 17:13

A thing = anything

lasttimeround · 11/07/2018 17:14

Because they dont understand what they are tslking about

Carnegiecrumbs · 11/07/2018 17:23

Still hoping for no change though. But that boat sailed :(

Helmetbymidnight · 11/07/2018 17:25

I have often wondered that.

The conclusion I came to would be deleted.

ICanOnlyLaugh · 11/07/2018 17:26

I swear so many people who voted Leave thought that the day after the vote everyone who wasn’t British was going to have to leave the country. Hmm

BertrandRussell · 11/07/2018 17:26

I'm not concerned on this thread about the rights and wrongs- just the practicalities. What do people think should actually happen?

OP posts:
ICanOnlyLaugh · 11/07/2018 17:27

@carnegiecrumbs I cannot even imagine how you would begin to get on with that. You’ve been placed in an insane position.

ICanOnlyLaugh · 11/07/2018 17:29

@bertrandrussell I believe that some people think it’s as simple as saying “Sorry EU, it’s over”, passports turn blue and everything goes back to how it never was before.

FridayThirteenth · 11/07/2018 17:32

They think we should stick our fingers up and walk away to teach the corrupt Eu a lesson as they need us more than we need them.

I highly doubt many people have thought any more about the actual practicalities than that.

They just want to be 'out' and wave their blue passport around. Anything else is just detail
