To Not Want England To Win The World Cup.

ProudAunty2nine · 08/07/2018 17:04

I am not English I am Welsh and rarely support English teams, but I have got caught up in the excitement of the teams achievements and until yesterday thought it would be fabulous if they did actually win the World Cup.

Then I saw the damage caused across the country but so called fans so called celebrating the quarter final win and thought God forbid they win what the hell will happen across country when the yobs celebrate that!

I also think that 'young lady' photographed jumping on an ambulance along with her companions and the ones photographed on bus shelters should be named shamed and charged with criminal damage and the same goes for anyone else who does not know how to celebrated in decent law abiding way.

This is a very disappointing reaction to what should be a happy and proud celebration

@cutietips

CornholioI was talking about you saying that you don’t care if we don’t support you and nor do you expect us to, as if you can speak for everyone in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Beautiful blue was talking about not hating you as you appear to hate us.

But if you think it makes sense to feel this way against a whole nation, there’s nothing really more to be said.

?????????? This makes even less sense. I have no idea what you're even trying to say.

Why are you so upset that the non English among us might, shock horror, not support England? Not supporting =/= hating.

I am not interested in the England team. I could not give one solitary shit if they won the World Cup. They have absolutely no bearing on my life whatsoever.

I do not care enough to hate them and/or you. Get over yourself.

Seasawride · 09/07/2018 18:17

Heard today there’s crowd funding to help the taxi driver who had his car smashed and to repair the ambulance.

Do not despair people

raisedbyguineapigs · 09/07/2018 18:51

I think it's Millwall FC fans that have set it up.

Cutietips · 09/07/2018 18:59

TheGreatCornholio I really don’t care whether you support England or not.

Just stop banging on about it. And get over yourself

And don’t claim to speak for everyone in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.

nancy75 · 11/07/2018 00:10

Just a quick update to this thread, according to some news reports the woman dancing on top of the ambulance car has been identified and is SCOTTISH! On holiday here in London from Glasgow

beautifulblue · 11/07/2018 00:11

lol I saw that to @nancy SHAMELESS ENGLISH FANS... oh wait... 🤔

Titsywoo · 11/07/2018 00:22

It's not the top that's looking wrong. It's the open windows and half-finished cladding (?) on the sides. Windows that high up would not open, and it looks as if they're missing, as they might be during construction

The last two times I've been in London (including this weekend) some of the windows on the shard have been missing - they appear to be doing some work on it.

FrauNeuer · 11/07/2018 00:45

Enb76 I’m pleased you mentioned this. I spent a weekend back with friends in Berlin in 2010 for the final and it was crazy. Lots of damage to property, people completely losing their shit. No aggression, just over-exuberance. It didn’t dominate the media reports and certainly didn’t mean that everyone had a downer on football fans, just a handful of people getting carried away after too many to drink.

I think the damage to the ambulance was stupid, but it’s certainly not behaviour that only happens in England/the UK.

Anyway, I’ll just be happy when this World Cup is over... Blush

sugarnotsweetener · 11/07/2018 01:20

Honestly shocked about this thread. As if some absolute bell ends represent the whole of England 🤨 and there are no bell ends in Ireland, Scotland or Wales then? I didn’t know a single person who wasn’t excited for wales in the Euros.

Yes there are some prats but other football fans have them too, in fact I’m from Sheffield and we have a wonderful elderly gentleman here who is fundraising for McMillan cancer care after he lost both his wife and his daughter to cancer, he wants to raise £1,000,000 as his target so every weekend you will see him walk with his fundraising pram from one end of the city to another, he’s like a local celeb. He was fundraising at a Sheffield Wednesday match against rangers - some rangers fans/thugs swore at him and pullled his wig off because it was green (he wears full Macmillan sponsored tshirts with flags on his pram and a curly green wig) because green is Celtic colours. Now there wasn’t any uproar just normal shock and disapproval at the minority that did this and in fact the other normal fans raised money once word spread what had happened. Now despite
The fact that Scottish fans have a bad press from other occasions too I can appreciate its the minority not the majority.

YABU it’s just another goady we hate England thread.

sugarnotsweetener · 11/07/2018 01:59

*northern Ireland

Sorry thought I better add that in otherwise my post will be ignored apart from to tell me Ireland isn’t partnof Britain. Just like the posts on the other “anyone but England” threads

Bonjourmonami73 · 11/07/2018 04:41

I am Welsh living in England and have to say the last time I was in Cardiff on a Saturday night, there were a load of women having a fight on chippy alley - it was grim. There are pissed up twats everywhere!

LookAtThatCritter · 11/07/2018 05:11

Unfortunately I think it’s going to be the same story whether we win or lose Sad

Monty27 · 11/07/2018 05:17

I am Irish and live in an edgy part of SE London.
Everyone is so happy.
It's coming home infinitum.
There's some miserable gits on here Hmm

drearydeardre · 11/07/2018 05:50

monty - could not agree more
unfortunately MN has a preponderance of 'miserable gits' who try to bring everybody down to their level of 'hating everything that is not too their taste or threatens their 'naice' way of life'
they depress me that there are so many of them.

runningkeenster · 11/07/2018 08:34

I'm of Irish descent and find all these George crosses offensive and hate what they symbolise which seems to be thuggery more than national pride

How do you feel when you see the flag of Georgia?

funny how we are happy to celebrate St Patrick’s day along with the Irish but they moan about us flying our flag in our own country

they probably say it's cultural appropriation

Anyway OP you don't need to worry because even if England does get to the final, France will win.

bunnibearchi · 11/07/2018 08:40

Sorry just seen this, praying they lose and it ends all this nonsense. So much NHS money was wasted just last Saturday!

BMW6 · 11/07/2018 08:41

Hmm.

According to some tabloids the blonde woman dancing on the London ambulance has been named as Larissa Bell and is................Scottish.

StopCloudSeeding · 11/07/2018 08:44

Yes. YABU A couple of incidents over and above probably millions of people celebrating. God knows in these miserable times it would be great to have something to celebrate.

derxa · 11/07/2018 08:45

The fact that Scottish fans have a bad press from other occasions too I can appreciate its the minority not the majority. Hmm

LittleLionMansMummy · 11/07/2018 08:48

Yabu op. It'll be worse if they lose, including increased dv. And I say this as someone who will be cheering the team on this evening and would love to see them win. Bellends are bellends, they just use the football as an excuse to justify their bellendishness. There are many, many more people who will be enjoying the game in good sprit, surrounded by family.

CanaBanana · 11/07/2018 08:56

This is exactly why I dislike football and why it isn't permitted in my house. The supporters are common yobs. You never see supporters of golf or ballet etc behaving in this manner.

Yes, that's exactly the way all football supporters behave. I can't wait to drink my own body weight in lager, throw a kebab across the counter, jump on an emergency response vehicle and piss on a foreigner.

Most Mumsnet comment ever. Don't choke on your lemon dear.

psychomath · 11/07/2018 13:53

If anyone wants to donate towards the repair costs/ambulance service generally, the aforementioned crowdfunder started by Milwall fans is here Smile

NaughtToThreeSadOnions · 11/07/2018 14:47

Apart from ballet and golf cana whats etc?

Horseracing?
