To ring RSPCA?

Downstairs neighbour but along one has had a small dog barking away in the garden since around 5pm.

I've never known them have a dog before, never seen it before and I've lived here a while, like I said it's been there since 5pm, no shade, can't see any food or water out there either and it's been crying/barking since 5pm. Its really sad to listen to. I would go and talk to the neighbours but they're known for being horrible, aggressive and violent men and I think are the local drug dealers ( lovely, I know).

AIBU to ring the RSPCA as it's been stuck out there for 5 hours or will they not be interested as DP suggests it could be a friend visiting and they don't want the dog in the house. Am I just being a worried animal lover or does this not seem to you either?

What a fab outcome, thank goodness you had the courage to do what was right, even if not in the eyes of the law. One happy dog and owner is well worth the trouble compared to what could have happened if you'd listened to the advice from profesionals to ignore it!

PinguPaws · 07/07/2018 15:11

You are fantastic OP! Thank you for taking the time and trouble, their owner will be forever grateful. Flowers for you and maybe Wine for later.

AvocadosBeforeMortgages · 07/07/2018 15:13

Excellent, well done OP! Flowers

Now, where can I collect my winnings from the bet that the dog was stolen? Grin

ShmooBooMoo · 07/07/2018 15:13

Amazing! Wonder if he was actively stolen or went missing and fell into the wrong hands. It sucks but, if he was stolen, even if you reported your neighbour, he'd probably say he found him wandering the streets. I'm in awe of you OP....you may have been bricking it but you did it anyway! I hope Milo and his owner have the reunion of all reunions! Smile Thank God there are still people like you and your DP! Halo Halo

ApolloandDaphne · 07/07/2018 15:21

What a great outcome.

heiheithechicken · 07/07/2018 15:24

What a lovely thread.
Op what a star, please let us all know how the reunion goes.
Just goes to show 99% of the time your gut instinct is right.
Thanks

GiddyGardner · 07/07/2018 15:26

Just protect yourself in case of any comeback from your neighbours, I know we shouldn't be scared of these bullies that spoil life for everyone else, but they have no moral compass, so be careful with regards to your SM updates and deny all knowledge if asked. I think your fab.

rosylea · 07/07/2018 15:27

This thread has made my day and England hasn't even won yet! Grin

GiddyGardner · 07/07/2018 15:28

*you are or You're obviously.

pambeasley · 07/07/2018 15:31

Brilliant op. Lucky you saw him and good on MN for the advice about him being stolen. Poor wee dog. Sad

twoheaped · 07/07/2018 15:32

What a fantastic result.
I would so like to see the little dogs reaction when mum comes.

TattyFrench · 07/07/2018 15:33

You did an absolutely brilliant thing! Well done you and your DH. The owners will be so pleased, that poor little dog. It doesn't bear thinking about what he's been through the last month and what would have happened to him if you hadn't rescued him.

NancyDonahue · 07/07/2018 15:43

Tears of joy here. Milo is a very lucky boy to have been next door to you, op.

Very well done to you and your dh Flowers

Icequeen01 · 07/07/2018 15:44

I’ve been following this thread and just wanted to add my admiration for the Op. So many people turn a blind eye to this sort of thing. You did absolutely the right thing and I can’t imagine how pleased the owner will be to see her dog. You and your DH are a stars!

itsBritneyBeach · 07/07/2018 15:46

That's brilliant! So pleased to hear it. Well done OP and hoping Milo is very very happy to be reunited with his family Thanks

SnapCackleFlop · 07/07/2018 15:46

You’re really brave OP! I have a dog and if something happened to him it would be horrific- it’s wonderful that you did this and the dog will be reunited with his owner 😊💐👍🐶x

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 07/07/2018 16:00

The dog had water and shade. OP made no attempts to communicate with her neighbours, yet she went onto their property and took their animal. No indication that the dog is stolen, it's a wild assumption.
Yes she shouldn't have left it to die, but the RSPCA or police should have removed the dog. Not OP.

Charolais · 07/07/2018 16:01

If they’d have given the dog food, water and shade the OP would never had reason the save the dog and they would have got away with it. They just stayed true to form thankfully.

RiverTam · 07/07/2018 16:02

Brilliant! Hopefully you’re neighbour will soon be your ex-neighbour after the plod come knocking.
