To ring RSPCA?

Downstairs neighbour but along one has had a small dog barking away in the garden since around 5pm.

I've never known them have a dog before, never seen it before and I've lived here a while, like I said it's been there since 5pm, no shade, can't see any food or water out there either and it's been crying/barking since 5pm. Its really sad to listen to. I would go and talk to the neighbours but they're known for being horrible, aggressive and violent men and I think are the local drug dealers ( lovely, I know).

AIBU to ring the RSPCA as it's been stuck out there for 5 hours or will they not be interested as DP suggests it could be a friend visiting and they don't want the dog in the house. Am I just being a worried animal lover or does this not seem to you either?

Oh, FFS chocolate. Sometimes, just sometimes, if it looks like a 💩 and smells like a 💩 then it is a fucking 💩.

HeGotManFlu · 07/07/2018 16:06

Well done, poor doggy, can't wait for his owners to turn up, you were very brave, if the dog was stolen I doubt you'll get any grief from ndn. Let's hope the police get involved.

SendYouUpInFlames · 07/07/2018 16:08

You are an abaloute star OP!!!

LakieLady · 07/07/2018 16:10

OP, you and your DP are absolute heroes! Thank heavens for people like you.

I think you need to video the reunion between Milo and his owner, that will be such a tearjerker.

Snowysky20009 · 07/07/2018 16:12

Well done both x

worriedupstairsneighbour · 07/07/2018 16:13

@Chocolatecoffeeaddict no, I did not try and make communications with my scary drug dealer neighbour because when I first moved here he started screaming at my delivery van driver for parking infront of his house and is an aggressive and nasty man.

The patch of shade the dog did have was barely bigger than him and was quickly disappearing. I'm not sure if you've read the updates but it was not their dog.

Anyway...

The owner turned up and was very emotional, she offered me £50 to say thank you ( I said no before I get told off for accepting it ), she'd had the dog tied up outside a supermarket for 10 minutes and came out and it was gone so I assume stolen.

I'm really not worried about the repercussions about me going into neighbours garden, I couldn't see any CCTV and no way he'll know it's me ( unless he saw me ). I'm not bothered, he kept a dog in a garden with no food, in the sun for over 12 hours and only put water out this morning. Hopefully he gets what he deserves and I'm moving anyway.

Thank you for lovely messages Thanks

I hate seeing dogs tied up outside shops and often hang around until the owner appears. I don't think she'll be doing that again.

I expect the neighbours will have no idea you took it. They'll probably assume it escaped.

Well done op x

HeGotManFlu · 07/07/2018 16:22

Thank goodness he had a chip, what a lovely ending.

RiverTam · 07/07/2018 16:22

What with this and 2 goals (and 30 degree heat) I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy.

Here, have a 🏅. Fuck it, have 🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅🏅

AprilBaby29 · 07/07/2018 16:23

I'm so proud of you OP! I'm sure the owner is so happy to have him back, you've done an amazing thing today FlowersFlowersFlowers

GreenMeerkat · 07/07/2018 16:23

Loving this story ❤️

Amazing! Well done, OP, what an amazing result.

Ohmeohmy1234 · 07/07/2018 16:26

Well done OP, you are a true hero.

I also feel very anxious whenever I see a dog tied up outside a shop. It’s not worth it, even for a second. The dog is more important than a pint of milk, or whatever else it is you need.

StayGoldPonyBoy · 07/07/2018 16:34

Aww well done OP! I’m so glad Milo made it home! (Just like Football willWinkGrin) but seriously that was such a great thing you did, good job you ignored the police!

esk1mo · 07/07/2018 16:35

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

well done OP Smile !!

Slatkater · 07/07/2018 16:37

You and your husband are stars. 👍🏻🥂

Icequeen01 · 07/07/2018 16:38

How was Milo when he saw his owner? I bet he was beside himself (I'm one of those sad people who watches the animal reunions on YouTube 😳)

rosamundhopelovesdogs123 · 07/07/2018 16:41

OP, you are a heroine. This is the best story ever and thank you for sharing it.
I rescued a dog in a similar situation a few years ago. Official agencies often can't/won't do anything so it is our duty to do what we have to do.
Ps. Chocolate, you sound like a right jobsworth. Don't rain on OP's parade - her courage and compassion has made a lot of people very happy.

twoheaped · 07/07/2018 16:43

Was he chuffed to see his owner?

zoClueless · 07/07/2018 16:44

A Saturday well spent OP. I've been keeping an eye on this all afternoon and am so pleased it's worked out. Well done.

Lepetitpiggy · 07/07/2018 16:48

So so pleased. Yes the RSPCA should have rescued him but they Couldn't Be Arsed. If this ever happens to you Chocolate, call them and tell them you're making a programme and they'll be there in5 minutes

glintandglide · 07/07/2018 16:49

Amazing OP! You hero!

CoatsDoRoam · 07/07/2018 16:50

That is excellent news. Well done OP
