Yes, Daily Fail link... But I am currently happy to give them clicks for various reasons.

Anyway, Tom Jones has a son whom he has never seen and apparently wants nothing to do with...

"Sir Tom denied he was Jon's father until it was proved by a court-ordered paternity test in 1989, and the singer agreed to pay £1,700 a month maintenance for his upkeep until his 18th birthday."

"Sir Tom only acknowledged Jon's existence in 2008, saying: 'It wasn't something I planned. I was tricked. I fell for the seduction.'"

What a piece of shit he is!

Did it occur to him to use a condom? I've always thought that he was a complete slimeball and about as sexy as a slug. If he has brought a child into the world he should be a father.

StealthPolarBear · 03/06/2018 12:57

Maybe it was cold out side

ManicUnicorn · 03/06/2018 12:58

Yes, I feel sorry for his wife as well. She obviously felt she'd been with him for so long that she couldn't live without him.

mrsmuddlepies · 03/06/2018 12:58

Perhaps Sue Jameson never told the boy's father. I am tryng to make the point that if a woman does not want to be a mother she can put her child up for adoption. Does she legally need the father's permission? What if she doesn't know who the father is?

Samcro · 03/06/2018 12:58

Did it occur to her to ask him to use a condom?

AbsolutelyBeginning · 03/06/2018 13:01

"Ain't no pushing to the back of the line
Don't you know
Everybody's bound to get in
Wait your turn"

Younger Days, Tom Jones.

Why are people mentioning condoms? The kid is in his 20s FFS! They can't change that now.

Tom needs to stop being bitter and man the fuck up!

His reputation in the day was that he always used protection so this would never happen.

PebbleTissueScissors · 03/06/2018 13:06

"Women do trick men into being father’s, I’ve actually seen it advised on here."
How would that happen, Skarossinkplunger, if the men were taking absolute responsibility for their own contraception

"Don't worry about getting me pregnant, I've had a hysterectomy"

Isn't that tricking someone?

Lower down the scale you have "I'm on the pill" - which always carries a risk.

In between those two points you have other misrepresentation "I'm on the pill but I really don't want a child at this point in my life so god forbid I had a contraception fail and got pregnant I can totally reassure you I'd have an abortion - you honestly don't need to worry".

It's just not real to think that men can never be tricked - but unless you were there you can't say.

It's obviously horrifically harsh on the child who didn't ask to be born and a roundabout way of punishing the mother - but personally I actuall don't think it's really that unreasonable IF there was proper trickery of that sort for a man to adopt a position of 'I don't want to know'.

Bekabeech · 03/06/2018 13:06

The person I always respect by contrast is Charlie Chaplin - he was sued for paternity, and despite a blood test showing he wasn't the father - as it wasn't valid in the state of California at the time - he lost the case. He then paid maintenance for the child until adulthood - even when he wasn't allowed back into the US.
That is behaving with dignity in a tricky situation.

Juells · 03/06/2018 13:09

@mrsmuddlepies

I always thought it must be hard for the biological son of the actress Sue Jameson.

Well, she's married to James Bolam, who cut Rodney Bewes out of his life completely and IIRC refused to agree to The Likely Lads repeats being aired, which left Bewes broke. Some people can just cut others out of their lives apparently without a thought.

Constance88 · 03/06/2018 13:11

The Liam Gallagher thing is so weird. I read the other day that Noel (his brother) has a real relationship with her, takes her on family holidays etc. How can Liam sleep at night knowing his brother has a relationship with his daughter and he doesn’t?! Weird!!

ohreallyohreallyoh · 03/06/2018 13:12

Don't worry about getting me pregnant, I've had a hysterectomy

If you are having random sex with virtual or actual strangers, you should be using condoms, surely? Pregnancy isn’t the only thing you should be protecting yourself from. If a man is going to have sex without contraception then why is it somehow too much to expect him to face the consequences of that?

StealthPolarBear · 03/06/2018 13:12

Men can't be tricked if they use as ciondom regardless of any reassurances from the woman.
It's really really simple.

supersop60 · 03/06/2018 13:13

Tricked? My arse.
If you really don't want children then party hats must be worn at all times.

NewYearNewMe18 · 03/06/2018 13:15

I read somewhere that she had agoraphobia, which is why she stayed in Wales and did not relocate to the US.

Linda didn't stay in Wales, she moved to the States years and years before she died, actually she died in the Ceders Sinai Hospital.

I don't know quite why you are all so excited about this, his biography says : "The singer famously claimed he had bedded 250 women in one year at the height of his career, but despite his self-confessed adultery, remained devoted to his wife, calling his marriage 'rock-solid' and said 'all the rest was fun and games'.

Clearly Tom and Lindas relationship worked for them. As this board is so fond of spouting, "all consenting adults".

LoislovesStewie · 03/06/2018 13:16

The point about using a condom is that he was shagging anything in sight and was presumably still having sex with his wife. So apart from the fact that he was careless about getting any or all of the women pregnant he could also have been passing on STI's to all of them and unborn children. I think he's lucky that he's only responsible for a few kids. For all we know it could be hundreds and awful illnesses.

daisychain01 · 03/06/2018 13:18

To be fair to Liam, he did at least voluntarily provide for his child financially

Ooo I saaaaay, let's get the medals out for Liam shall we, that's amaaazing. 🥇

I agree, lots of them are just selfish gits.

RoseWhiteTips · 03/06/2018 13:25

Liam is great.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/06/2018 13:26

I'm not sure James Bolam and Rodney Bewes are the same thing. Especially when it is Bewes' version that is taken at face value - and I met him a few times, I know what he thought of a man nobody else calls 'Jimmy'.

Bolam had a different career. They weren't a double act like, say, Morecambe and Wise, they were 2 actors who worked together on a series. One had a growing career and moved n to other things, the other didn't.

And isn't it OK for a woman not to want to be a mother to a child she had adopted at birth? That was her choice, she has every right to live by it as she sees fit! Back in 1960 she couldn't have had the pill, she was young and at the beginning of her career, she made a choice. The choice that was, at that time right for her. How she deals with it now is also up to her.

SkinniesAreOver · 03/06/2018 13:29

he fell for the seduction! omg, he's a notorious philanderer. He has humiliated his wife for decades. Her self-esteem must be in the gutter. He is the VICTIM here! So he thinks.

TheStoic · 03/06/2018 13:30

The person I always respect by contrast is Charlie Chaplin.

Charlie Chaplin was a predator with a fondness for very under-age girls.
