Why doesn't anyone want my cat?

I've posted this in The Litter Tray, but am also cheekily posting here for traffic.

Hello,

I have to, reluctantly, give up my 2-year-old Maine Coon boy. For personal reasons I can no longer provide him a suitable home.

I've put up an advert on Pets4Homes, and NO-ONE is interested. He's a friendly energetic boy, GCCF registered, neutered, up to date with all of his jags, cuddly if you catch him in the right mood, and completely gorgeous.

AIBU to think SOMEONE would be interested in rehoming my cat, or is everyone just interested in kittens?

I honestly don't think the internet is the best place to rehome your cat.

Most decent people who want a cat will go to a rescue or a breeder.

Lots of decent rescues who will put the word out about your cat, vet potential homes and basically support you through this.

Glad you did put a price on your cat, though. Saves the cat -baiters and halfwits applying.

I'd take him in a heartbeat but sadly my old lady is very ill and likely near the end so it would be cruel to force her to share the time she has left after being a solo cat her whole life.

Speak to local shelters as some do home to home adoption so your cat would stay with you (or possibly a foster home) until they find someone to adopt him which is obviously better for Frank. I think the shelter checks the potential new owners out to make sure they know what they're doing, can afford it etc. then make an appointment with you so they can meet up. Horrible situation to be in Flowers

'Not love him that much though or you would have kept him'

I used to have an attitude very like yours but as I have aged, I have realised that life isn't always straightforward and sometimes the most loving thing to do is admit that you can't provide the best home for a pet and search for someone who can give them the love and care they need. It is hopefully not something I will have to do in my lifetime, but I don't judge those who do have to.

Statistically I'm not sure I can think of anything better than 28lb of LION CAT Smile.

Is expat going to get Frank?

Have sent you a PM. Talk later.
