To want to know WHAT HAPPENED!?!

willynillypie · 05/04/2018 16:52

Guys, I KNOW how sad this sounds but I am on maternity leave with a lot (A LOT) of time on my hands - I was following two threads which were absolutely amazing in terms of the responses - the unforgettable CF house sitting thread, and one about taking a 5 month old baby to the cinema. Went out to run errands, came home...BOTH THREADS HAVE BEEN TAKEN DOWN!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HOUSE SITTING SITUATION!?! DID THOSE CFS GET THE MONEY!?!

I expect to be told I have no life, this is fine Smile

Apologies for the caps lock, I am just VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE THREADS Grin

I missed a vital update once.
The one where the lady kept having creepy happenings around her house. She was selling it and it appeared the villagers weren't happy.
The op update was deleted by the time I read it.

boxyfingo · 05/04/2018 20:25

I want to know about the lady whose house down a country lane was for sale (I think she had accepted an offer). There were lots of strange goings-on which were frightening her. There was someone lurking in the lane one evening when she was walking her dog which prompted her to post on here. Then there were more and more strange incidents. I hope she managed to sell up and move away

Sometimes life is crazier than fiction and these stories are actually true. I got accused of being a troll for a totally true situation. I was new and didn't understand that a reverse was frowned upon or even what it was until I googled it. People were really nasty but the situation was The one I'm currently in.

It's unreasonable of me but I find it frustrating when you and hundreds of others invest in an emotional post and the OP never returns to give an update or just say thank you. I really worry about those in terrible situations and would love to k ow that they are at least ok. That's not the way of MN though it seems.

The house sitting one has been in the news in Australia, New Zealand and in several UK papers. Crazy. Seemed pointless to delete the thread once immortalised in the press.

Pretty sure this will be deleted for being a thread about threads!

boxyfingo · 05/04/2018 20:26

Fuzzyfozzy - that's the one I want to know about. Her descriptions about what was going on really gave me the chills. Hope she's ok

boxyfingo · 05/04/2018 20:29

The fake wedding ring was on Loose Women last week. They regularly discuss MN stories, but at least do seem to acknowledge the source of the story unlike lazy journalists

fuzzyfozzy · 05/04/2018 20:31

I try not to get invested in posts, but it really creeped me out!

WishingOnABar · 05/04/2018 20:32

There was a thread a while back about a family who had found their neighbours playing on their garden equipment and asked them to leave, but the neighbours kept returning and even posted a letter demanding they be given access to the play area, does anyone know if there was an update on that?

I know.... I was totally invested... utterly bizarre . why would someone create that entire scene .. for entertainment....

I hope it's not true... otherwise a Woman in desperate need of guidance has been cut off Flowers

BoucleJacket · 05/04/2018 20:34

I take lots of these stories with a massive pinch of salt.

And people who say "Oh I don't care if they're fake it's still a good story!" are missing the point.

Which is that posting fake stories is trolling.

LizzieDarcy1907 · 05/04/2018 20:34

The Span Gran was surely a troll, it got utterly ridiculous in the end. And there was some very odd posts on there........!!

FifiVoldemortsChavvyCousin · 05/04/2018 20:36

Thanks for the updates.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 05/04/2018 20:39

I always console myself by thinking no one much reads lifted threads put on the Online Mirror? The few I've looked at to see if my comment was featured Grin are just recaps of the thread with a couple of random comments from Mumsnetters thrown in accompanied by some awful generic photo.

Surely you'd just browse the Mumsnet site if you wanted to read entertaining threads?

Foxysoxy10 · 05/04/2018 20:41

I’ve always wanted to know what happened to a poster that was living in a flat and had boot marks outside her door, think she had a few things go missing and something about a tie? She had a DD.

It was such a long time ago and I don’t have the first clue what to search for to try and find the thread again.

Hesburger · 05/04/2018 20:44

Fuzzy - I missed that update too. I've always wanted to ask what happened. Hope the poster is happy in her new home.

I'd like to know about the one where some of the residents in a street were paying some kind of service charge to the council but the OP wasn't. Sounded like some kind of scam and the OP was waiting for confirmation from the council.

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2018 20:48

I agree IAmWonko, all sorts of embellishments and added bits of fiction IMO with a sort of true (ish) start.

Once a thread is deleted I don't really give it any more thought.

Tartyflette · 05/04/2018 20:51

Gemini69 et al
The lovely-sounding poster and her thread about the equally lovely sounding colleague wasn't deleted AFAICR, it went on and on, everyone was very keen to know how it would turn out.
But the OP decided she wouldn't be posting again she had probably given too much detail and thought it best to keep the outcome of the story private.
People generally agreed it was the right thing to do in that situation and wished her well.

kangar00 · 05/04/2018 20:52

@MonkeyPoke I was about to ask exactly the same Thing. What happened to the Spanish gramma, neighbours knocking through listed buildings wall to install patio doors into a garden which they don't own. I NEED TO KNOW!!

CocoPuffsInGodMode · 05/04/2018 20:53

It really isnt thrilling to come back and say well, i had a word with Eric over the road and he said sorry for being thoughtless and he will be more careful in future. Then he gave me a couple of his wife's scones and she suggested i might like to pop along to the bingo with her on tuesday.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 05/04/2018 20:55

Several threads I've wondered about:
The mum of the 15yr old Ds with Asperger's who had gotten his girlfriend pregnant.
The one with the neighbour who kept putting the bin bags on the washing line (wtf?)
The poster who had found a locked box/cabinet in her house, possibly under the stairs. The locksmith took about a week to arrive. What was in the box?

There's probably loads more. Does anybody know how these ones ended?

hereyougosuckmyassforensics · 05/04/2018 20:57

It's infuriating when threads disappear, it makes me not want to comment anymore.

FrozenMargarita17 · 05/04/2018 20:57

@fuzzyfozzy I came back to that one and was sooooooo upset I had missed the update.. I will never know :(

MasonJar · 05/04/2018 20:58

YABU.
They're all just stories, made up or perhaps highly embelished versions of the truth.
Most are probably written by journalists so they can use to fill column inches.
