To want to know WHAT HAPPENED!?!

willynillypie · 05/04/2018 16:52

Guys, I KNOW how sad this sounds but I am on maternity leave with a lot (A LOT) of time on my hands - I was following two threads which were absolutely amazing in terms of the responses - the unforgettable CF house sitting thread, and one about taking a 5 month old baby to the cinema. Went out to run errands, came home...BOTH THREADS HAVE BEEN TAKEN DOWN!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE HOUSE SITTING SITUATION!?! DID THOSE CFS GET THE MONEY!?!

I expect to be told I have no life, this is fine Smile

Apologies for the caps lock, I am just VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE THREADS Grin

OP posts:
BugsyMcGee · 05/04/2018 18:56

Does anybody know if the posters of threads picked up by The Fail etc get banned if the threads get pulled. I haven't been around here long enough to know the answer to that one. I spent ages reading the house sitter ones and will never know if the partner coughed up the money. Really annoying.

KC225 · 05/04/2018 18:56

I was so into crazy SIL thread - the kids had pasta/pesto/peas so I could keep reading. Bloody hell, I posted a proper long response too. If it wasn't so gripping, I'd have felt duped

Alibaba87 · 05/04/2018 18:57

Wah! I’d be pretty miffed about that.

mateysmum · 05/04/2018 19:02

MaryWinchester Hooray's thread about the neighbour who wouldn't leave her alone re her house restoration was pulled at the OP's request. Last heard, the neighbour was haranging her and refusing to leave the property so she called the police. Soon after the thread was deleted and Hooray left a message to say that the situation had "escalated" and was now in the hands of the police and other agencies but she was now more hopeful of a positive resolution.
My reading of that was that the neighbour sadly really was not quite right in the head and hopefully was now getting appropriate help and leaving his neighbours alone.

AhoyDelBoy · 05/04/2018 19:07

2018SoFarSoGreat - I think it's still here but the OP never updated with what happened with her 'D'H when/if she confronted him.. Her last post said she was deleting the thread and her account and never posting again Shock

Eggyegg · 05/04/2018 19:07

BugsyMcGee why would the OP get banned? Presumably some of them are genuine but make a good story.

lollipopjones · 05/04/2018 19:07

Does anyone know what happened to the poster who thought someone was coming in and using her tumble dryer at night?

marywinchester · 05/04/2018 19:09

mateysmum thank you for letting me know. hopefully things are more peaceful for her now.

PrincessBananaHammok · 05/04/2018 19:10

Is the thread still on here about the girl who was with a very controlling man? think she had an 11 and 15 year old and he'd text his sister that it was fine for her to come over then told his partner he would love to smash her face in whilst raising a fist. I was invested in that one

notapizzaeater · 05/04/2018 19:12

It's really annoying when you invest in a thread and it goes. Equally it's pretty poor journalism just lifting stories ...

Pumpkintopf · 05/04/2018 19:15

Glad to see this thread, I too was wondering what happened with the house sitter thread. Really annoying when these get put into the press - lazy journalism IMO.

BerylStreep · 05/04/2018 19:15

I reported the crazy sister in law thread. Wealthy dysfunctional controlling family, gifted a property with a gate lodge. OP readily agreeing with posters, lots of timely updates, cryptic message from friend about black sheep brother, 'get out now!' (as if you would discuss this over Whatsapp) and OP packing her bags forthwith, yet still being able to provide a breathy update about how she has missed her DH in traffic

Trolldar working today Grin

FifiVoldemortsChavvyCousin · 05/04/2018 19:16

What happened with the tumble dryer one? Was her landlord secretly using it at night?

Littleredboat · 05/04/2018 19:25

I’m so bored of all these deletions. Surely people know they are identifying from the start, why not change a salient detail, or don’t post at all!

My Threads I’m On is more deletion messages than threads left, it’s pathetic.

FuzzyCustard · 05/04/2018 19:27

I wanted to know about the secret tumble dryer user too.

domythinkingforme · 05/04/2018 19:28

Toby Meyjes of the Mirror even put his name to the article which he just lifted from a MN thread. I hope he didn't get a paid for that - what a lazy CF.

It amused me to see the Mirror calls itself the 'intelligent tabloid' - surely an oxymoron?

user1467718508 · 05/04/2018 19:28

For those asking, Tumble dryer thread is still active...OP ghosted for a while but came back yesterday w/ this update:
"Sorry for not updating, there wasn’t really a conclusion as such. We had a lot of snow (for England) which disrupted/took my attention away from the dryer saga.

The only real update was after both bouts of snow my landlord filled up my outside log bin with logs, I had ran out a few weeks prior. This house is bloody freezing so it was very kind of him.

DP joked that this was probably a guilt payment for the dryer usage....

Nothing really weird happened since and all electricity use back to traceable sources.

I think this will just remain a mystery. However I think we have ideas of what happened but no real proof to actually start pointing fingers.

Moral of the story keep all external doors locked."

KnockKnockWhosThereEurope · 05/04/2018 19:30

I would love to know what happened with the poster whose neighbour had knocked down the post at the end of their front garden wall betweeem their drives and rebuilt it differently with a plaque or something. The general consensus was that the neighbours were probably going to put gates up but the thread got deleted as it was too identifying so we never found out the outcome :-(

BarryTheKestrel · 05/04/2018 19:31

@thecatsarecrazy you must live near me. I have also read the homeless guy and pigeon saga today!

The problem with discussing any real life issue on MN is that the press will mine anything they think someone will want to read. So a 1000 post CF thread is bound to get picked up.

beyondthesky · 05/04/2018 19:32

I was invested in that one too knock but I think other MNrs recognised the house so it was pulled.

AuntFidgetWonkhamStrongNajork · 05/04/2018 19:33

What happened to the 'should I keep my son's lies" one last week (ish) where it turned out to be slightly more than the odd lie, it was 3 concurrent girlfriends and multiple teenage pregnancies?

diddl · 05/04/2018 19:43

I think that that one was fake, AuntFidget

Shinycantle · 05/04/2018 19:52

Also "sad" (yes I have no life) but I want to know the ending of the thread about a woman who chatted with a lovely bloke at her place of work, had quick conversations with him at the water fountain etc, she really liked him but didn't know how to move the relationship on... . She was advised to invite him out for a drink or a meal and dammit, I want to know how it ended! Smile. Btw, the IP could well have provided an update, I just didn't get to see it.

Sparklingbrook · 05/04/2018 19:52

Some of these sound pretty ubelievable TBF.

Shinycantle · 05/04/2018 19:52
