Surprisingly good cheap products.

Posting for traffic.

I've recently got a few bits online that people have recommended for being cheap but really good for what they are. Latest purchases are a really good liquid eyeliner from Amazon for £0.64 and a baby bath seat that should be £20 but was £9.99 inc delivery!

So out of curiosity and wanting to get some stuff has anyone got any recommendations of surprisingly good products they've bought really cheaply?

Not asking for anything particular just anything that comes to mind.

Superdrug coconut oil I massage into my hair and scalp for 5 mins wrap in a head wrap and leave for 3 hours then rinse out and shampoo as normal. Leaves my hair super soft and shiny and costs 2.49 for a decent sized tub

Thank you

mummyrabbitpeppapig · 21/04/2018 16:40

Thanks Barbara

thanks to you lovely posters I've bought some Aldi 50+ sensitive sunscreen for ds for school.
And some of the Aldi clear one for me to try. Both under £3

I like the Technic Mega Matte Eyeshadow Palette which is £2.46 at the moment and well worth the money.

Their eyebrow gel is great too at £1.50

Poundworld used to do a bra for a pound, I brought 5. I love them for wearing around the house and sleeping in, I'm a 34G and I found them really comfortable.

Another vote for the ‘coconut’ body scrub from Sainsbury’s: I’ve mucked about making my own scrubs before, but this one smells incredible, dissolves well after scrubbing, leaves skin smooth and is scented with real gardenia oil, doesn’t smell coconutty at all. It’s the one in the packaging that’s meant to look like soap and glory. My daughters friends open the tube just for a sniff!

Best mascara I've ever used (changed to it from Lancôme) is essence 'lash princess'. Awful name but brilliant mascara.
The essence 'rock n doll' is also good. Both about £3 in wilkinsons.

Also- liquid eye liner-seventeen's 'tatto me'. Does not budge. At all. Cheap, very black and brush is thin enough to do a good line and flick.

Mummyrabbit You might want to try the Altruist sunscreen (on Amazon). Very reasonable prices and goes on nicely without feeling greasy at all. Developed by a dermatologist so I'm hoping it will be fine for my awkwardly reactive skin. (Just tried on arms and neck so far).

KichenDancefloor · 03/05/2018 17:31

Wow, the Tesco £1 hair serum is amazing. I've used it for the first time and my hair is so swishy and soft. I can't stop touching it. Bye bye frizz ease.

showmewhatyougot · 03/05/2018 19:24

79p Aldi floor wipes, they are huge! No bleach in them so I use them to wipe down kitchen doors on everything tbh

creamcheeseandlox · 04/05/2018 14:49

Do u use the serum before blow drying or after on dry hair?

KichenDancefloor · 04/05/2018 16:37

I used it on wet hair and let it air dry. Still feels glossy now and straighter too, strangely.

creamcheeseandlox · 05/05/2018 08:29

I'm going to pick some up today. I have done hair does it weigh Hair down?

Doingreat · 10/05/2018 22:23

I bought the 64p liquid eyeliner that OP mentioned but haven't been too impressed with it. Could be just me though and my crap technique. Worth a try definitely.

evergreen7 · 11/05/2018 14:00

@Doingreat I find I need to go REALLY slow with it but generally due to how super intense the black is I save it for nights out/events.
DS likes to use the retractable bit to turn himself into a cat 😂

MotherWol · 11/05/2018 14:21

Marks & Spencer rose talcum powder - it looks like something your nan would buy but it smells lovely (like Diptyque Eau Rose) and keeps you cool in hot weather. And it's £3!

EllenOlenska · 12/05/2018 00:37

DShathaway Dirty Works body scrubs (both kinds one in squeeze tube/other in a tub) are amazing and often on offer at Sainsburys for £2-£4. I had tiny blind spots on my upper arms and it's cleared them up leaving the area smooth plus the rest of my skin is softer. As a result my body cream works even better now for my skin.
Thanks to everyone recommending Primark foundation as an alternative to double wear. Can anyone tell me if they have a good range of shades? Do they compare well to double wear in that respect?

tumpymummy · 12/05/2018 01:07

Great thread, thanks. I already buy a lot of stuff from Lidl and Aldi. Lòoks like lots of you do too!

torthecatlady · 12/05/2018 01:35

Love this thread. I usually swear by Sure anti perspirant, however I bought the Aldi lacura one yesterday for under a £1. Trialled it at work (active job) today, normally get a bit sweaty and it worked well so I'll be buying it again.

Anyone got a picture of the Tesco serum so I know what to look for. I usually buy John Freida but it's quite pricey when not on offer.

I've started using a bar of Simple soap to shave my legs with instead of shower gel. Much cheaper, less irritation and less packaging.

TheRagingGirl · 14/05/2018 14:31

Can anyone recommend a cut-price version of Footner?

Dieu · 14/05/2018 15:58

Hi all

Love this thread!

catlady the Tesco serum is in a small red plastic bottle, and is £1. Sorry, no photo, but it's the only one like it. I actually got some delivered with my Tesco grocery delivery!
I'm not really feeling the love for it, but then my hair is long and wavy. Might be different if it was straight.

As a lifelong Double Wear fan, I can't say I'm convinced by a Primark alternative. Willing to give it a go though! If someone could pop on a photo, I'd appreciate it greatly, as I couldn't figure out which one it was in there.
Would REALLY recommend their liquid gel eyeliner though. Think it was only £2 for a pot that although small, you can tell will last forever.

Dieu · 14/05/2018 16:00

Oh, here's a link to the serum:

Eenymeeny123 · 14/05/2018 16:29

I use dove soap to clean make up brushes and sponges, they come out like new. I also live nivea moisturiser and I use a little coconut oil to moisturise face.

Doingreat · 14/05/2018 17:22

Thanks evergreen7. Will definitely give it another go. Lol@ your son using the eyeliner to turn himself into a cat. Nothing wasted, right?

Shehz21 · 14/05/2018 17:43

shamelessly placemarking!
