Surprisingly good cheap products.

Posting for traffic.

I've recently got a few bits online that people have recommended for being cheap but really good for what they are. Latest purchases are a really good liquid eyeliner from Amazon for £0.64 and a baby bath seat that should be £20 but was £9.99 inc delivery!

So out of curiosity and wanting to get some stuff has anyone got any recommendations of surprisingly good products they've bought really cheaply?

Not asking for anything particular just anything that comes to mind.

Tesco value dishwasher tablets are really good. £1.60 I think it is, for a box of 30. One of the reasons I like them so much is that they work well on a quick wash. The expensive tabs are too dense to break down in that time.

KichenDancefloor · 09/04/2018 22:44

I second the Tesco value dishwasher tablets.

Can't find anything cheaper anywhere. We've been using them for years with no problems.

KittTheCar · 09/04/2018 22:51

Don't know if it counts as cheap enough, but I've got sensitive skin and my eyes especially are a bit allergic, simple eye make up remover is brilliant, I've not bothered with another over for years. Actually I wipe my whole face over with it to get make up off Grin

Going to read whole thread in full tomorrow looks like some great tips

Ikea Plastis washing up brushes for 95p. I bought a couple 2 years ago and each one has lasted a year! (And before anyone tells me that's minging they do get cleaned very thoroughly once a week!)

If anyone is in Somerset, there is a company called "Bargain Brands". It's a little industrial unit on a trading estate that sells short life / out of date ambient food products ( selling g products past a BB, but not a UB, date is legal before anyone comments and these are all canned / dried products).
Stock varies according to what's available but always a good selection of cereal, usually Kellogg's or supermarket own label, at 50p. Canned drinks eg. Coke, perrier, J2O at £2 - £3 a case, pet food, pasta sauce, pasta, confectionery and so on. Most items are 25p

Fluffycloudland77 · 10/04/2018 09:27

You can break dw tablets in half. It works just as well.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 10/04/2018 10:58

Asda’s George swimwear is superb. Just bought a gorgeous green bikini online for £13 that I know will serve me for many holidays to come. The prices seem to have stayed the same for years.

Coconut oil removes eyemake up quickly and painlessly (everything else makes my eyes sting)
Rose water as facial toner.
Second the st moritz false tan- also if you use fake tan buy the darkest shade even if you're pale, dilute with a cheap body lotion (I use home brand baby lotion) and it'll last much longer than buying a matching shade and moisture your skin at the same time.
Tesco own brand lipsticks are lovely shades and last well.

blurryeyedbeast · 10/04/2018 11:04

Can someone explain soap nuts to me please? I've tried and failed with those a few times. They just clogged up my washing machine!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 10/04/2018 11:17

MUA eyeshadow from Superdrug is fantastic. I have a great palette of matte neutral/brown shades that is highly pigmented and has great staying power, and cost about £4. Their eyeliners (about £1) are brilliant too!

I love Nivea Soft and use it mostly as a facial night cream but also on my hands and body too. It's great for travelling as you only need one tube to do three jobs. Occasionally I "treat" myself to a more expensive night cream but they work any better than the Nivea and quite often make my face sting as it's quite sensitive. Always end up going back to my faithful big tub of Soft!

The economy tinned spuds from Tesco are 35p for a massive tin and great for using in Spanish omelettes, curries or for potato salad. I always have a few tins handy in case of zombie apocalypse. They are such big tins that I reckon they would make an effective weapon, then you get to eat the spuds. Win/win! Grin

Risky. The zombies would have be really close to crack them with a tin of Tesco spuds.

I do have one MUA eyeshadow, and I agree, it's cracker. Mine is Chamoise (?). Great pigmentation.

Wilko big bottles of conditioner - abut 80p (they were 75p but I think they've gone up). Very good & silicone free.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/04/2018 11:43

Waitrose Pure skin care range is excellent. They do a face scrub that is the same as the Dermalogica that I paid a ridiculous amount for. They did sell a great eye make up remover that didn’t sting but that have stopped selling that

Lidl and Aldi especially the chocolate I do most of my shopping there

Make up brand I have only seen in Wilkos can’t remember the name large selection of products all that I have tried have been very good and they do a very good nude lip liner

E.L.F make up. I the states they have their own shops the black eyeliner with built in sharpener in the lid is great really nice a soft

GlitterGlassEye · 10/04/2018 22:49

Loving this thread. I went to Boots today off the back of it to get their essentials cleanser, toner and moisturiser. 3 for £3! I’d been looking to up my skincare regime from just a baby wipe and almost bought a pricey clarins set online so mega thanks Grin.

Aldi chocolate buttons are much better than big names.

Morrison’s fabric softener is brilliant.

Aldi/Lidl for pull-ups and wipes.

Morrison’s £10 butcher pack when they have it on is great. I divvy it up and it lasts 5 if us for main meals for a week. Love how it varies too but it sells out pretty quickly in my local.

Can anyone recommend good cheap body scrub?

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 10/04/2018 23:34

Dirty Works from Sainsbury’s the coconut body scrub

I like the peppermint foot cream it’s nice and soothing all the products I have bought have been good

RedWineAllMine · 11/04/2018 00:02

Poundworld (blue shop, not green - Poundland is green) poundworld panty liners, in the red pack. 30 for 50p. Amazingly absorbent and thin. Better than carefree etc, you can feel your wearing those.
Also Asda own brand pads with wings. I've tried Always and they beat them hands down! They are 0.75p for a pack of 14.

ChameleonCircuit · 11/04/2018 00:06

My first thought for a cheap body scrub would be cheap shower gel with value table salt sprinkled in.

Imbluedabadee · 11/04/2018 01:26

Tesco extra value dishwasher tablets - about £1.30 for 30 and better than the more expensive ones I've tried. Superdrug spray sun creams are about £8 each but they are always on buy one get one half price or bogof and they smell lovely and feel gorgeous on the skin. Aldi washing up liquid and laundry liquid is really cheap and better than branded ones.

Imbluedabadee · 11/04/2018 01:39

I've discovered an amazing website for clothes called everything5pounds. I think they must buy stock that other shops couldn't sell as it's all different brands including well known high street names. I bought a top from there that still had the original tag on and it was originally £40 from topshop! Their leggings are amazing too, really thick and fleece lined

Spawnofthedevilapparently1 · 11/04/2018 01:44

Wilko mascara pink tube about 3 quid

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 11/04/2018 11:08

Alexanders Paracetamol and Ibuprofen from Superdrug or Boots. They're about the cheapest on the market and I think the Paracetamol are the best ones going, although you have to be careful getting them out the packet.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 11/04/2018 11:22

I make my own body scrub from coconut oil (or olive oil)and sugar. I use plastic cases as moulds so you use them like a bar. I've added essential oils too. If you have a lip balm pot put it in there with extra sugar and you have lip scrub.
Super drug pure range eye make up remover is excellent, get rid of the Collection LashSurge mascara no bother. And doesn't sting.

FloatingGlasshouse · 11/04/2018 22:05

A bit boring but Wilkos own brand mould remover is absolutely incredible - works within hours and completely removes mould. A life saver if you have a bathroom without a window.
Think it’s £1.50 and I currently have about 20 bottles in my own personal stock

Petalflowers · 11/04/2018 22:12

Avon are great for offers on cosmetics, shampoos, toiletries etc.

The Book People - great for books.
