Surprisingly good cheap products.

Posting for traffic.

I've recently got a few bits online that people have recommended for being cheap but really good for what they are. Latest purchases are a really good liquid eyeliner from Amazon for £0.64 and a baby bath seat that should be £20 but was £9.99 inc delivery!

So out of curiosity and wanting to get some stuff has anyone got any recommendations of surprisingly good products they've bought really cheaply?

Not asking for anything particular just anything that comes to mind.

Can anyone recommend good cheap body scrub?

Nothing on earth beats a handful of fresh coffee grounds! I mix it with oil/shower gel/whatever, or sometimes just use on their own.

FoofFighter · 13/04/2018 07:22

Starbucks give away bags of their coffee grounds (for the garden they say) for free.

MissMarplesKnitting · 13/04/2018 10:36

Cheap scrub?

Caster sugar and olive or coconut oil, mixed together. Add scented oil if you fancy.

Doesn't bung your drains up like coffee grounds do....

littlepill · 13/04/2018 10:41

Waitrose also give away free coffee grounds - massive bin by the coffee machine!

I guess it must depend on your drains! Ours seem to be able to handle it! Grin

MissMarplesKnitting · 13/04/2018 11:19

Mine are rubbish, sadly!!

Soda crystals and hot water = cheap drain clearer.....

MissMarplesKnitting · 13/04/2018 11:20

Coffee grounds are great for composting too....

Avon has some lovely products - can anyone recommend ones they've used?

Also my Aldi washing liquid soap is nectarine and bergamot, not whatever i said up thread! Lovely.

Nicpem1982 · 13/04/2018 11:51

Another vote for the superdrug vitamin e range I love it

Also the wilko foot packs in peppermint and almond brilliant treat for my feet and only 1.00

TheDailyMailLovesTheEUReally · 13/04/2018 12:26

Following recommendations on here I bought the Wilko hair turban - I had one from Boots and it's knackered so needed a replacement. It's almost identical to the Boots one but a fraction of the cost - very pleased with it!

I also bought some of the Wilko my essentials eye shadows and they are bloody brilliant! Very good pigment and I love the fact you can get a little case to slot them into, meaning that you can pick up 4 eyeshadows of your choice and create your own mini-palette. Extremely good value for money and my eyeshadow lasted all day and didn't crease at all.

Haven't had time to rtft yet so apologies if repeating :
Aldi loo roll
Aldi nappies
Aldi babywipes
Aldi own dark chocolate
Aldi choc buttons for kids
Aldi own brand version of Total/Fagr yoghurt
Aldi mature cheddar

Lidl washing powder
Lidl raincoats and waterproof trousers for kids. Good quality and cheap, perfect for nursery/school.
Lidl cornichons (small gherkins)
Lidl bakery croissants and pain au chocolat (nicer than waitrose and half the price)
Lidl cheddar (some are made by wyke farms)
Lidl dark chocolate with raspberries

Glue dots from the pound shop. These were an absolutely life changing discovery for me, kids can now stick things without getting pva everywhere!

Well as a result of this thread I can't believe I've just bought horse shampoo and conditioner for teenage DD and I. She keeps saying "are you sure it's for human use too? But how do you know for definite?"

I'm going to see how long it takes DP to notice there's horse shampoo in the shower Grin

(I bought it online from Look Fantastic £4.00- £4.69 a bottle and free delivery)

NomsQualityStreets · 13/04/2018 17:31

Oooh another one from me just discovered Aldi do their own version of the really expensive yogurt in big tubs I think it's LIBERTE that has the puréed fruit at the bottom.

Aldi version is called MOO! and is £1.29 as opposed to £2.50

So far I've seen passion fruit, raspberry and fudge.

DS loves it Grin

Oh and I also got the Aldi knock off of the Aussie mega conditioner - very good but loads cheaper than the real thing so it's a keeper. Away to RTFT now to see what other bargains I'm missing out on!!

Petalflowers · 13/04/2018 20:03

Okay, I've bought Tesco hair serum. How and when do I use it? I've never bought hair serum before.

Avon products - eye glimmer sticks are good. Also live their soap-free cleanser in White container (forgotten its name), eye shadows, bubble bath etc

woodlanddreamer · 13/04/2018 20:14

Paracetamol are the best ones going
They may be the cheapest going but they are the same ingredient as any other paracetamol??

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 14/04/2018 00:59

@Woodlanddreamer no idea but they do the job, they're cheap and they seem to kick in fast. I get quite debilitating headaches so anything that stops the pain is fab, these seem to work best on me.

Avon products- Skin So Soft dry oil body lotion is great and a cheap insect repellant - and apparently works as an oil/WD40 sub! I use their roomsprays, the footworks callus cream and foot deodorant and the planet spa dead sea body scrub although I find it leaves my shower a bit gritty, hence my quest for a budget replacement.

BabyBlueBella · 14/04/2018 01:18

Aldi sparkling elderflower drink. Big bottle for less than 50p and is identical to the bottle green version which is 6x the price and has much higher sugar content!

BabyBlueBella · 14/04/2018 01:19

Sorry - ignore the double post.

MistressDeeCee · 14/04/2018 04:28

Wilkos Mascara £3
MUA Matte Lipstick £1
MUA Radiant Bronzing Gold Powder £3 - it's an exact copy of a really expensive brand that I've forgotten the name of now

Garnier SPF30 Face cream - gives you soft glowing skin it's around £12-14 but Superdrug or Boots always have an offer where you can buy between £6-8 . If one store doesn't have it on offer then the other does.

starkid · 14/04/2018 07:07

@OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny thanks for the link to that site with the horse shampoo, I got a travel size to test out for £2 and free delivery! Excited to try it Grin

TravellingFleet · 14/04/2018 09:52

Seriously, my glamorous relative in New York swears by the horse shampoo.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 14/04/2018 10:18

I'm really looking forward to trying it (and can't wait for DP to spot it in the shower Grin )

MissMarplesKnitting · 14/04/2018 12:27

The horse shampoo is amazing

We used to use it when away at shows cos it was easier to use the horse stuff when you forgot your own. It's really very good though full of silicone....
