Waters just broken, help!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 01/02/2018 09:13

Waters broke at 5am this morning. rushed to the hospital who confirmed (no shit Sherlock it was like Niagra!!) but sent me home as no contractions. They have booked an induction for tomorrow morning.

Thing is i am 36+6 so they may not let me give birth in the birthing suite (only from 37 weeks) which is what i wanted. Ideally i need to start having contractions asap so i can avoid having the induction but go in late enough so that the doctors say yes to us going to the birthing suite.

Any advice to get contractions going much appreciated!!! currently sitting on a birthing ball to stay active, going to my happy place for oxytosin etc.

Totally placemarking! It's so exciting and reminding me that I have to do this again in a couple of months.

You sound very controlled OP fingers crossed for you it stays that way - make sure you take on plenty of fluids, giving birth is thirsty work

Good Luck!

LuigiBoard · 02/02/2018 10:10

Good luck OP will be following for the update!

Ghostonthedancefloor · 02/02/2018 10:21

Good luck op it sounds as if you are handling it beautifully!
How exciting! Flowers

TotHappy · 02/02/2018 10:38

Everyone says it doesn't matter about sticking to your birthing plan, you won't care when baby's here, but I did. Was gutted for months and still am really (nearly 2 years later!) so do what feels right to you OP x

Natsku · 02/02/2018 10:43

So exciting, good luck OP!

I was hoping the supermoon would tempt my baby out but he clearly agrees it's a myth Grin

PeanuttyButter · 02/02/2018 13:56

Good luck! Hope things are progressing nicely for you

PyongyangKipperbang · 02/02/2018 15:32

My ex had a theory that waters break on a full moon as amniotic fluid is tidal :o:o

Yes, he was joking!

hotcrossbuns765 · 02/02/2018 19:45

Been thinking of you today - hopefully you're resting with babe in arms 😊

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 02/02/2018 23:06

I wonder how OP is doing?

Snowysky20009 · 02/02/2018 23:44

Was just thinking the same thing ....

Bratsandtwats · 03/02/2018 16:08

Here's hoping that baby cereal has arrived safe and well and is busy having cuddles.

ethelfleda · 03/02/2018 16:13

Yes, I keep checking back in case there is an update but imagine OP has more important things on her mind Grin

whatsittoyou · 03/02/2018 18:45

Another one checking for update! Hope all is well!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 04/02/2018 00:04

Update for any one patient enough to still be watching this. Ok so I think I left you all on Friday in early labour. At about 5 we decided that we should go in thod was after over 24hours of contractions
The birth centre confirmed on room left and ww could have it great. Grabbed our doula and off we go.

Arrived and filled the pool stripped and got in. Lovely. No tens machine however. Discussed gas and air and decided to wait an our or so before trying it. however on the third contraction I said fuck it givemethegasandair!!!!! Everyone reacts differently aparently and my reaction is that turn into a drunk arsehole! !!

Anyway long story short, it turns out that i arrived at the birthing suite at about 9cm dialated (hence the crazy unbarable contraxtions) despite basically having a mental breakdown, begging for help, assuring everyone I could not do it. about 6 hours after us arriving, little cereal was born without any pain relief at all other then the pool. About an hour was spent just pushing the head out a cm at a time. That was unbarable!! Dispite being 3 weeks early he weighed 7.6lb!

Sooo. You may ask why did I take so long to get back to you? Well I am messaging you from the hospital as despite the perfectly executed birth plan, Little cereal was not so organised. Initial breathing problems from mucus delayed breast feeding so he won't latch.

This turned out to be more because he has sever jaundice which was only discovered 12 hours after birth because we were being held for observation in case he has an infection from early water breaking. So he is currently in the nicu under blue lights being pumped full of antibiotics and glucose. In the last hour the staff has just confirmed he has turned the corner and is now finally improving. Waiting on a panel of tests that will be finished on monday before know when we can leave but things are finally coming to a conclusion.

I must say a massive thanks to all the staff who have all been absolutly fucking amazing! One midwife may have actually saved my sons life.

He is an absolute stunner. Dark hair and (probably) blue eyes. We are both smitten!!

Please excuse my spelling etc. I've had about 2 hours sleep in the last 3 days and am doing this on my phone. Big thanks to you all who offered advice early on. So much appreciated! !

ChautauquaCo · 04/02/2018 00:21

Oh many congratulations!! Flowers
Hope you can get some well earned rest and Little Cereal continues to improve. Sounds as if he is getting excellent care.

ohfourfoxache · 04/02/2018 01:29

Oh huge congratulations!

Sorry to hear little cereal has had a bit of a rough start, but it sounds like they’re doing the right thing and erring on the side of caution

maybaby17 · 04/02/2018 02:24

Congratulations!!

I hope the wee one is ok and out soon.

My LO ended up in NICU after a water birth and my waters breaking 27 hours before he arrived. He didn't latch on as he had an infection in his lung and I was just more concerned about getting him fed than latching so I pumped for a week until he was home then when he was 13 days old we day a BF consultant and he started to latch. It wasn't easy but we both tried hard and 8 months later he is still on the boob.

Hopefully he is out of hospital soon. Get plenty of rest while you can.

makeitpink · 04/02/2018 02:30

Oh huge congratulations!!!! Well done Mummy. I hope you're all home soon. ThanksThanks

whatsittoyou · 04/02/2018 02:40

Congratulations op! Sounds very similar to what happened to my dc3 after birth, he is in good hands so try and get as much sleep/rest as you can while you're in hospital and you'll be much better prepared for the nights once he gets going when you're home! Enjoy the cuddles!
