Waters just broken, help!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 01/02/2018 09:13

Waters broke at 5am this morning. rushed to the hospital who confirmed (no shit Sherlock it was like Niagra!!) but sent me home as no contractions. They have booked an induction for tomorrow morning.

Thing is i am 36+6 so they may not let me give birth in the birthing suite (only from 37 weeks) which is what i wanted. Ideally i need to start having contractions asap so i can avoid having the induction but go in late enough so that the doctors say yes to us going to the birthing suite.

Any advice to get contractions going much appreciated!!! currently sitting on a birthing ball to stay active, going to my happy place for oxytosin etc.

Good luck today @op! Hope things pick up again. It’s so infuriating when contractions fizzle out in the morning! Try and sleep if they’re easing off, so you’ll be well rested when they pick up again.

whichwayisout · 02/02/2018 07:32

Good luck op 🙂

makeitpink · 02/02/2018 07:41

Oooh good lick!! Hopefully you'll meet your little one soon.

CiderwithBuda · 02/02/2018 07:42

Good luck OP. Funny about the supermoon! In the olden days on MN there used to be a little moon pic depicting the status of the moon as a full moon would usually bring about all kinds of things on here! Threads kicking off etc. Now that seems like a daily occurrence!

CandyMelts · 02/02/2018 07:47

Interesting about the moon! Good luck with everything OP x

ShowOfHands · 02/02/2018 07:47

Good luck op.

I hope labour begins properly soon but if it doesn't, please don't be frightened of going and getting checked out. You're nearly 24hrs since your waters went and infection risk does rise. Likewise, please try and accept that labour and delivery is pure chance. I did all the prep possible and had an ideal delivery planned. I ended up with the opposite in every way and fought it and felt terrible failure and guilt. There's every chance of the natural water birth you want but if you deviate from that, it's okay.

BrawneLamia · 02/02/2018 08:00

Good luck op. Both my labours started with my waters breaking. The first time it was a race against the clock to have the baby before I needed to be induced.

My hospital allowed 48 hours - yes there are risks of infection if your waters are broken, but there are also risks associated with being induced. Once dd was born the hospital needed to do blood tests to check she didn't have an infection before they would discharge us

Can you try to hand express a bit now? It should have the added bonus of bringing on contractions. The other thing which seemed to help was listening to my hypnobirthing cds.

Good luck OP, I was wondering if you'd still be around!

Just think - a baby, TODAY Grin

diddl · 02/02/2018 08:13

All the best!

ObiJuanKenobi · 02/02/2018 08:21

Good luck Op!

Rainymorning · 02/02/2018 08:23

Good luck OP hope all goes well

Iamnotacerealkiller · 02/02/2018 09:19

Jullianne, i bloody hope it is today, another night like last night would be awful. now the sun is up i feel better!

RE supermoon, pretty sure that's just a myth. Afterall what is so special about the full moon. Only that we can see it all. it isn't any closer just because we can see it all from earth. The rest of the time the whole moon is still there effecting the tides etc, we just can't see it.

02/02 is a lovely date to be born!

TheFirstMrsDV · 02/02/2018 09:36

Go Iamnot, Go Iamnot, Go Iamnot!

You can do this!
Yay

Jenny70 · 02/02/2018 09:38

Best of luck.
Supermoon is technically different to full moon - full moon we can see it all without any shadow, supermoon is closer to earth, as it's orbit isn't exactly the same distance from the earth.

But that teeny gravity difference is hardly going to pull your baby out!! Think it is midwives remember the crazy nights with supermoon/full moon (or everyone mentions it), whereas the waxing gibbeous moon isn't such a memorable thing.

Hopefully you'll be off to the birthing suite very soon

Sallystyle · 02/02/2018 09:39

Ohhh this is so exciting. Good luck!

Wellfuckmeinbothears · 02/02/2018 09:39

Morning OP, well done you! You’re doing amazingly.

That’s great you don’t have to go in for an induction, hope the rest goes as smooth as possible and little one is here soon Flowers

mumpoints · 02/02/2018 09:41

So exciting - making me cry a bit!

Iamnotacerealkiller · 02/02/2018 09:47

Exactly Jenny.

Contractions definitely more consistent now. just had a cluster of 5 over 6 minute then a nice 12 minute break :)
