To think this is quite rude? I paid for her £72.34 shopping.

I work part-time in a supermarket and it was someone's last shift. I do have a gift for her at home (as she didn't know her leaving date) but I told her to grab a few bits and I'll treat her (I didn't know what else to do).

The shopping came to £72.34! She then goes "thanks so much".

She also knows I'm a student :(

Maybe it's my fault for doing what I did, but don't you think that's quite rude?

essexgirl2018 I would hazard a guess that your opinion is similar to the CF's. Perhaps she thought OP was trying to curry favour or buy friendship with her nice gesture, so she used it as a way to take her down a peg or two, show her who's boss, etc.

Like you, the CF probably thinks this is all OP's fault for offering what she doesn't have and trying to make people like her, rather than seeing her own actions for what they were.

She would probably even think a post like yours was actually helpful to the OP, and might help build up her self esteem.

starray · 29/01/2018 12:45

essexgirl2018, absolutely nothing wrong with what Op offered. The only person who has anything "lacking" here, is the awful woman who took advantage of Op's strength - generosity and kindness.

Poppyfields21 · 29/01/2018 16:00

Essex not a very helpful, or nice, post. Suspect maybe you’re the CF...!

SparklyMagpie · 29/01/2018 16:21

essexgirl2018 what a lpad of crap youve just wasted your time writing

I suspect like others do that You're the CF

LilacBearberry · 29/01/2018 16:22

It's funny you say that, I'm actually in Essex. Coincidence?

OP posts:
SparklyMagpie · 29/01/2018 16:25

Grin oooh the plot thickens

Lonesurvivor · 29/01/2018 16:29

Essex girl, your attitude sounds awful.
I would never take advantage of someone else only horrible people do this. In this scenario any decent person would be too embarrassed to take any gift off a much younger student colleague. Shame on the person who did this.

MichaelBendfaster · 29/01/2018 16:31

Just seen her message. What a twat she is. OP, if I didn't feel strongly before that you should take it to management, I bloody well do now.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, but seriously what draws a 19 year old student to MumsNet? and to have been around long enough to know the lingo/MN speak "To think this is...."

tiffanysfanny · 29/01/2018 16:47

Wow this gets even better 😂

I'd have thought there'd be loads of different ages on here. You don't have to be a mum to be on here, either despite the name.
Apparently some people just come for the bantz and "company" Smile

LilacBearberry · 29/01/2018 16:55

@HotelEuphoria - I have been using Mumsnet since I was 17. Even HQ know that. This is a new account - had it about a month. I am odd, I know that, but I do enjoy it.

SparklyMagpie · 29/01/2018 17:13

Lilac I dare you to text CF a link to the daily mail page and comments section!

Go oooooon!!!

DrRanjsRightEyebrow · 29/01/2018 19:53

Do you think Daily Mail screenshot so many posts in the hope DM readers don't bother to then search for the original threads and get all the 'Daily Mail are colossal cunts' messages?

PistFump · 30/01/2018 18:27

"Bantz"

I proper loled at that!

Also suspect @essexgirl2018 is the CF in question.

Giver OP her money back grabby fucker!!

Poppyfields21 · 31/01/2018 15:31
