As a biological female I have experienced:
A c section
Pre eclampsia (nearly died)
Single motherhood, currently 90% of all single parents are female, the 10% of men are considered progressive and put on pedestals
Sexual assault, a few times and one horrific incident
I have HPV and have had a lot of smears, and 3 lots of my cervix chopped off, all "pre cancerous cells" have another one next month wish me luck
I've been a victim of domestic violence (strangled me until I was unconscious and broke three of my toes) he was charged with criminal damage, like that's unusual? I'm 32
I have had a period every single month since I was 11 years old

My Aibu is this. Am I being fucking unreasonable to think that India willoughby from CBB is taking this piss out of what being a biological female means, because she somehow in her brain thinks she is an actual woman? How? I don't wake up I the morning and think "ooh I feel so womanly, I need lipstick a dress and eye liner"
I wake up and get on with life, regardless if I have a period or not, because that's who I am, not because who I believe I am.
I understand people who can't cope with gender stereotypes, but reducing being a woman to looking pretty and clothing boils my blood

Science and biology aren't on your side in this. Consider this statement, made by a biologist whose Facebook page is called 'Evolving with Grace':

India is a transwoman in the Big Brother house. So far, every conversation she has had has revolved around her being a transwoman. It is something which she brings up every five minutes. How come she can discuss it, but we can't?

Also, why open the thread if you aren't watching the show or know who she is?

In what sense?

For most social purposes, okay. Pronouns respected and all of that.

Biologically? No.
Genetically? No.
Lived experience? No.

But it doesn't matter until you have a fifty year old transwoman tantrumming and a septuagenarian and an octogenarian because they slipped up.

This is about a group of women who have tried very hard to be polite and repeatedly used India's preferred pronouns but then made a slip of the tongue.

It's a crying shame for the trans community that some people (India) can't be a proud ambassador of that and let's face it, you're not helping them either.

He's intellectually and emotionally intelligent and he's confident and happy in his skin. And it shows.

India also claims that LGBT activists have historically done nothing for him. Completely ignoring the fact that he has a shiny new birth certificate with "female" on it. And says that drag queens scare him.

Considering the biology argument using fish... I put some eggs in the lounge on the floor and my DH just left semen all over them, we're hoping for fry in the Spring.

It's a shame that transwomen aren't valuing their own life experience and rather exclusive biology more.

I'm not defending her behaviour - like I said, this thread is the first time I've heard of her. I'm perfectly happy to accept your view that she isn't a decent person. But you ought to have the basic human decency to criticise her views and her behaviour without all this awful and degrading insistence that she isn't a woman.

But she isn't though. He really really isn't regardless of what they have done to their body.

@LyraPotter that "science" statement... oh dear. The first long section about other species is utterly irrelevant, it tells us nothing about humans. The second section details a list of intersex conditions, again absolutely nothing to do with transgenderism. The last section, which actually attempts to address transgenderism is laughable.

This is a slightly different way of repeating the blanket statement "transwomen are women" without any attempt to explain why. It requires the idea of sexed souls or essences, or it requires the idea of a sexed brain. Neither of which are provably scientifically.

It really isn't something to get worked up about I've been called a man umpteen times by accident.

But Lyra, she ISN'T a woman. She never was and never will be.

What she IS, and what everyone is perfectly willing to accept is that she's a transwoman, with her own unique set of views and experiences and has every right to live that way in peace and happiness, supported as an equal.

What people won't accept, is India Willoughby pissing on our leg and telling us it's raining.
