As a biological female I have experienced:
A c section
Pre eclampsia (nearly died)
Single motherhood, currently 90% of all single parents are female, the 10% of men are considered progressive and put on pedestals
Sexual assault, a few times and one horrific incident
I have HPV and have had a lot of smears, and 3 lots of my cervix chopped off, all "pre cancerous cells" have another one next month wish me luck
I've been a victim of domestic violence (strangled me until I was unconscious and broke three of my toes) he was charged with criminal damage, like that's unusual? I'm 32
I have had a period every single month since I was 11 years old

My Aibu is this. Am I being fucking unreasonable to think that India willoughby from CBB is taking this piss out of what being a biological female means, because she somehow in her brain thinks she is an actual woman? How? I don't wake up I the morning and think "ooh I feel so womanly, I need lipstick a dress and eye liner"
I wake up and get on with life, regardless if I have a period or not, because that's who I am, not because who I believe I am.
I understand people who can't cope with gender stereotypes, but reducing being a woman to looking pretty and clothing boils my blood

Amanda, Ann, Rachel et al are kind of genius.

Or at least their subconscious brains are.

You can carry on screaming you're a "real woman", but that isn't what people perceive.

SlowlyShrinking · 08/01/2018 00:03

I AM A REAL WOMAN!!
I felt sorry for India though when he was crying and saying that people say they think he’s a woman, but actually it’s clear they don’t really believe and are just being polite. But then, transactivists do start issuing violent threats and no-platforming people who disagree with them, so...

Madwoman5 · 08/01/2018 00:28

The only reason for it being in there is to make a point. Women do not behave like this (not any I know), switching between a simpering beauty queen and an aggressive bloke. If this is normal, acceptable behaviour, then we should be focussing on this behaviour not it's sexuality. Rude is rude whether it comes from a man, woman or something inbetween. Call me old fashioned but if someone makes a mistake, apologises...move the hell on!

Battleax · 08/01/2018 00:43

I haven't seen that.

But that's the crux of it isn't it? It's sad that she's upset, but also a bit silly of her to be upset.

I've loss most of the use of my legs over the past three years and I can't help making that comparison; Sometimes facts aren't quite what we would wish them to be. I'd look very silly tantrumming until everyone around me agreed that I was the epitome of athleticism. I'll happily settle for straightforward but sensitive reactions.

Similarly trauma. Gender transition is in lots of ways about traumatic life journeys. Lots of people have those. Trying to erase the past isn't the answer. I blame the American idea of the "do-over". No such thing.

Battleax · 08/01/2018 00:47

Maybe when you transition you have to go through a new adolescence? And tricky adolescents need firm but fair handling not complete indulgence on all their whims and tempers 😏

SlowlyShrinking · 08/01/2018 00:55

Yes I agree battleax
Ultimately it’s pointless for India to waste energy trying to convince everyone he’s a real woman. He’d be much happier if he could accept himself as a feminised Male. This is the end result of ‘affirmation of trans identities and people are having surgery and then finding out no one believes that they’re real women (or real men, as thecase may be.
I’ve got a bit of sympathy for him, but not too much because he’s also behaving like a bullying aggressive twat and has been breathtakingly rude about a couple of the women.
Sorry to hear about your legs Flowers

nancy75 · 08/01/2018 00:57

I think India before transition obviously thought of themselves as some young leggy teenage girl rather than a woman of 50 or what ever they are. As well as trying for the looks & othes of a teenager they’ve adopted the personality & maturity too

MsGameandWatching · 08/01/2018 01:00

India thinks being a woman is blow drying his hair while topless, wearing low cut tops and cut off shorts in January and posing "sexily" in the diary room chair and on various seating throughout the house. India doesn't like any topic that isn't about India being a REAL woman and as such tries to shut other discussion down. India is just a hugely entitled and spoilt person and I am sick of every scene being focussed on him.

Battleax · 08/01/2018 01:00

Thanks Slow.

I'm glad this is getting a large mainstream audience. It highlights what's reasonable and what isn't.

I sense someone has picked up some weird ideas from dodgy US college movies TBH 😏

IlikemyTeahot · 08/01/2018 02:26

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how absolutely gorgeous Courtney Act is?
India must hate him with a passion Grin

fizzthecat1 · 08/01/2018 02:59

Agree with most of what you said but this is TMI and a bit pathetic. You think you're a hero and a martyr because you have periods and "get on with life" Confused (like the rest of us). There are disadvantages women have but this belittles the point a bit.

Skarossinkplunger · 08/01/2018 03:54

I’ve been through none of the things in your op, guess that means I’m not a woman either?

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 08/01/2018 04:50

@Skarossinkplunger you’re a women if you’re an adult human female. If you are of the sex that can bear young.

If you are not, you may be an adult human male or child human of either sex, there is a smaller possibility you are intersex.

I guess it all boils down to - when you were born, what did the midwife say? Because that’s when your socialisation of that sex began regardless of any lifestyle choices or bodily abnormalities.

badabing36 · 08/01/2018 09:55

Just wondering IW works for channel 5 right? Presumably she is a pain in the arse to work with. But they don’t want to fire her because she would kick up a stink so...Maybe a producer persuaded her to go on the show to set her up to fail?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 08/01/2018 10:21

Which just underlines his masculinity... a woman would just have been 'let go'!

ferntwist · 08/01/2018 10:29

YANBU. Agree with you completely. So sorry about what you suffered from your ex.

LyraPotter · 08/01/2018 11:03

The amount of transphobia on this thread is disgusting, @MNHQ should remove it.

Battleax · 08/01/2018 11:07

Which posts do you think are transphobic Lyra?

BeyondWW · 08/01/2018 11:12

Indiaphobia

LyraPotter · 08/01/2018 11:13

Those misgendering her. Those saying 'getting your tackle removed and wearing fake tits doesn't make you a woman'. Those saying only women born with vaginas are real women.

I have no idea who India is and I've never seen CBB but even if she is a raging cow there is no excuse for transphobic abuse. Complain because you think she's a bully - fine. Complain because you don't think she's a real woman - well then, you're transphobic and should be ashamed.

I've reported every transphobic comment to mumsnet. Hoping to see this disgraceful thread disappear into the dark ages where it belongs.

BeyondWW · 08/01/2018 11:15

India isn't a woman though. That's just factual, not a value judgement.
India is a transwoman.

Transwomen are women. End of.

BeyondWW · 08/01/2018 11:21

End of what?
