As a biological female I have experienced:
A c section
Pre eclampsia (nearly died)
Single motherhood, currently 90% of all single parents are female, the 10% of men are considered progressive and put on pedestals
Sexual assault, a few times and one horrific incident
I have HPV and have had a lot of smears, and 3 lots of my cervix chopped off, all "pre cancerous cells" have another one next month wish me luck
I've been a victim of domestic violence (strangled me until I was unconscious and broke three of my toes) he was charged with criminal damage, like that's unusual? I'm 32
I have had a period every single month since I was 11 years old

My Aibu is this. Am I being fucking unreasonable to think that India willoughby from CBB is taking this piss out of what being a biological female means, because she somehow in her brain thinks she is an actual woman? How? I don't wake up I the morning and think "ooh I feel so womanly, I need lipstick a dress and eye liner"
I wake up and get on with life, regardless if I have a period or not, because that's who I am, not because who I believe I am.
I understand people who can't cope with gender stereotypes, but reducing being a woman to looking pretty and clothing boils my blood

But calling a male "she" is missexing. Many of us think gender is a load of bollocks (intact or removed) and refer to someone's SEX.

No amount of surgery is going to change a person's sex, and "he" is rightly used to refer to a person of the male sex.

Loving this thread! All my thoughts about India and this series put more eloquently and intelligently than I ever could. Long live mumsnet

WhereistheWit · 10/01/2018 00:51

Also just remembered something that could be relevant. There have been two transgender winners of BB previously. Nadia and Luke.

Deadlylampshade · 10/01/2018 14:47

Argh I’m just watching last nights episode.
One thing that is glaringly obvious is how it’s all about how men feel, how it affects women isn’t mentioned, not once.
I got so angry when Shane came out to show his tuck and John said ‘wow it’s better than a real one’. I can’t STAND this idea that drag queens or trans women are the absolute pinacle of female, that men can do everything better than women, even be a woman.

QuackPorridgeBacon · 10/01/2018 19:19

To be fair, when it comes to looking like a stereotypical women then many drag queens etc have it down a lot better than me lol. I don’t think John’s comment was serious either. It must be strange for the men to see something like that, but it’s a good sign that the barriers are coming down. Gender doesn’t exist to me, becoming the opposite sex is already impossible but to change gender makes no sense and basically fires us back into our boxes that we have fought to come out of. I also don’t think you can misgender because the words he and she come from our sex not our gender, which doesn’t exist.

AnotherQuoll · 10/01/2018 20:46

Yes, it's a bit old now, the "I can do femininity better than you" boast from drag & trans. I know in the past I've reacted with "Well of course men can do femininity,. It's men who made it up!" Their game, they made up the rules- no surprise that they're always telling us how to do it and that we're always doing it 'wrong', while thinking themselves champions.

badabing36 · 11/01/2018 00:09

"Well of course men can do femininity,. It's men who made it up!" ooh love that Quol can I steal it?

AnotherQuoll · 11/01/2018 16:57

Why, certainly, Badabing Smile .

I reckon India will go unless the TRA’s set up some sort of phone in to keep her in. Then again I don’t think they would agree with some things she has said. I kind of want her to stay just to show more of the nastiness she has done to maybe peak trans more people but that wouldn’t be fair on Johnny, who seems like a nice guy actually.

GabsAlot · 11/01/2018 23:46

eviction is friday night

TerracottaAmy · 13/01/2018 09:33

and she's gone! hopefully we'll get to see a bit more of the other house mates now!

Battleax · 13/01/2018 09:39

What happened? Flounce?

MsGameandWatching · 13/01/2018 09:40

Evicted.

Battleax · 13/01/2018 09:54

Oh okay. Somehow I thought she'd go nuts. I need to catch up.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/01/2018 10:12

I'm quite saddened India is gone. Love her or lother her she's good viewing.
That Johnny is just a bore to be perfectly honest.

TerracottaAmy · 13/01/2018 13:12

I agree Johnny's a bore, but I saw John Barnes on screen last night and thought "forgot he's in there!" she just took up too much screen time

QuackPorridgeBacon · 13/01/2018 14:53

I’m watching on catch up. The eviction show is only half an hour. Is that right?

I’m glad she’s gone and I think we just haven’t seen much of anyone else to really have an opinion. In a way I wouldn’t mind if she was still in as I’d like to see how much further she could fall. I realise that sounds awful but what is also awful is using your male privilege to tell women what it’s like to be a “real” woman.

BatShite · 13/01/2018 15:09

We can now see more of the others, though I am positive the producers will focus on the ridiculous showmance.

Oddly enough I started to quite like India in the past couple of days..after she toned down the 'I am a real woman!!' stuff. I reckon the producers had a word and told her she was coming across horrendously and to chill the fuck out.

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/01/2018 15:35

India has gone into full-on damage limitation mode on Twitter.

She was manipulated by Treacherous People!

Folk aren't buying it though

QuackPorridgeBacon · 13/01/2018 17:33

I’m blocked on Twitter by India 😂😂

I simply asked her what her definition of woman is. As she keeps hash tagging most things as “I am a woman.” I simply said that I know that I am a woman because I match the definition of adult human female, and without referring to hair and the shaving of legs what does being a woman mean. I’ve had no reply and I am blocked. There’s my answer then, she obviously thinks being a woman involves hair and shaved legs.

I must be a man then, I currently haven’t shaved in weeks and I have short hair 😂
