As a biological female I have experienced:
A c section
Pre eclampsia (nearly died)
Single motherhood, currently 90% of all single parents are female, the 10% of men are considered progressive and put on pedestals
Sexual assault, a few times and one horrific incident
I have HPV and have had a lot of smears, and 3 lots of my cervix chopped off, all "pre cancerous cells" have another one next month wish me luck
I've been a victim of domestic violence (strangled me until I was unconscious and broke three of my toes) he was charged with criminal damage, like that's unusual? I'm 32
I have had a period every single month since I was 11 years old

My Aibu is this. Am I being fucking unreasonable to think that India willoughby from CBB is taking this piss out of what being a biological female means, because she somehow in her brain thinks she is an actual woman? How? I don't wake up I the morning and think "ooh I feel so womanly, I need lipstick a dress and eye liner"
I wake up and get on with life, regardless if I have a period or not, because that's who I am, not because who I believe I am.
I understand people who can't cope with gender stereotypes, but reducing being a woman to looking pretty and clothing boils my blood

I'm sure @KateMumsnet can find her own way here and do her own job very well without your help, Beyond.

Backingvocals · 09/01/2018 13:07

Sorry? You want women to accommodate this delusion and be nice. Because we are women. No way. Liam Huntley is a she? Really? You’re way out of order on this one.

On a women’s site telling women not to speak truth about being a woman Angry

Geronimoleapinglizards · 09/01/2018 13:07

*Someone just mentioned fuckability - that is one of the key areas of social conditioning that all females experience from the moment they are conscious of the world - "How pretty am I?"

IW has no concept of what this means and seems to be under the illusion that all men want to fuck any woman at any time and that women hold all the power to control this which is deeply misogynistic (I wonder if he was a very unattractive man and couldn't get any?), when the reality is there are massive power dynamics going on, status seeking behaviours AND an actual biological desire to reproduce*

I have no idea who India is so just googled and I read a Daily Mail article where there was a brief clip of her on the Lorraine show. What was fascinating was the very first thing Lorraine said was along the lines of 'look at you, you look so pretty.'

Really at the end of the day the only thing society values about women is their looks. It is of fundamental importance that we're pretty and if someone isn't, we all participate in a charade of saying they are (look at profiles on fb where photos elicit a load of responses saying 'you're Gorgeous hun.')

Being a proper woman is about being pretty. Nevermind biology.

Here we are. I got it a bit wrong. It's 'you look absolutely beautiful.'

India on Lorraine

Also my bolding failed above for some reason

Battleax · 09/01/2018 13:10

What's hostile about observing that the mods are very good at modding without unofficial input?

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 13:13

I'm just trying to help a good thread to stand. I didn't want mnhq to pop up in a few hours and say "right youve had your warning (on the other thread), we're deleting this thread". Especially since some people are so keen to get it deleted.

Battleax · 09/01/2018 13:14

There's nothing worse than everyone trying to tell each other off. Please don't. It turns into competitive prefecting, however good your intentions.

GabsAlot · 09/01/2018 13:23

i felt sorry for her when it first started im a cbb fan-i thought she was struggling but now its ridiculous making people feel uncomfratble teling them what they should and shouldnt do shes dug herself a big hole

its only women voting for now and id be very surprised of she wasnt up

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 13:24

It wasn't telling off and apologise if it did come across as such. Mnhq frequently don't share a message like that across numerous threads - it's usually linked by a mner when it happens - so I simply wanted to make sure it had been seen.
Nothing more, no competing for prefect badge from me! Grin

NellyFrestelli · 09/01/2018 13:35

I thought it was a helpful message to share over on this similar themed thread @BeyondWW cheers

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 14:57

Thanks nelly Grin

MissionItsPossible · 09/01/2018 17:50

Re MNHQ message: Pity India can't afford the same level of courtesy or was I the only one who heard her refer to Andrew in drag as 'It' a couple of times in last nights episode?

Backingvocals · 09/01/2018 18:11

I really think the MNHQ message is not on. TRAs have got here through playing with language, inventing "crimes" such as misgendering, claiming that denial that they are female is "literal violence".

All women are asking to do is use a truthful word.

I am perfectly capable of being kind and courteous and if Miranda Yardley asked me to call them she I would as she has been respectful of my boundaries. If Lian Huntley asks me then I wouldn't. Ditto India Willoughby who claims to be a suffragette despite what women have to say on the subject.

MNHQ asks us to change what women call these people on the basis of what the men want. Where do women's voices come in all this?

If I bought that India actually had a phobia I could understand it - my sister refers to clowns as 'it' (not just the pennywise kind!), not he. I guess it's something to do with the idea of them being monsters rather than people...?

But I don't buy it. So...

"amount to goady fuckery"

Loads of goading happens on benefits and social housing threads and yet is left to stand.

BatShite · 09/01/2018 20:42

With there being an audience tonight for the gave to face noms, I wonder if Emma will say the housemates names...see no reason for the audience actually for this 'twist' but if she goes through them one by one and most get a good reaction, then India is booed to high heaven (which is surely inevitable) I wonder hoe India will take it...

BeyondWW

Thanks for copying MNs message,. I cannot believe some people are so desperate to get the threads closed down mind. People going through thousands of posts to report 'misgendering' (when its actually misgendering to refer to a male as she, tbh..but thats another thread)

India is seriously getting on my tits now with their victim complex and self-obsession. I would have loved to hear the rest of Andrew talk about breaking down gender stereotypes but of course as it was not about India, they shut the conversation down. Horrible narcissistic twat.

BatShite · 09/01/2018 20:43

face to face noms*

MissionItsPossible · 09/01/2018 20:49

Doubt it Bat, there hasn't been past form of this unless it's in the small studio and they're normally instructed to be completely quiet. Looking forward for tonight though. This series has been surprisingly good despite not enjoying the launch. Despite my dislike, I do hope that when India is evicted and receives the inevitable boos she receives the help she gets and doesn't have a breakdown

MissionItsPossible · 09/01/2018 20:50

Actually I saw a headline about half an hour ago about Emma entering the house don't know if it's true though

JustGiveMeTwoMinutes · 09/01/2018 20:56

Thanks samphire, I found it on active, I never go on individual boards.

There's been a handful more posts but I think people generally prefer complaining.

As for the poster who said above that 'women are only asking'. Listen to yourself. Nothing is going to change through asking and complaining.

JustGiveMeTwoMinutes · 09/01/2018 21:04

Gender is psychological not biological (although the gender concepts you hold in your psyche arise from observed and experienced behaviours heavily influenced by biological sex). Transwomen who take the approach IW does identify with a concept of 'woman' that you are not doing much to dispel on this thread - complain and expect the other person to take action and change their ways.
