As a biological female I have experienced:
A c section
Pre eclampsia (nearly died)
Single motherhood, currently 90% of all single parents are female, the 10% of men are considered progressive and put on pedestals
Sexual assault, a few times and one horrific incident
I have HPV and have had a lot of smears, and 3 lots of my cervix chopped off, all "pre cancerous cells" have another one next month wish me luck
I've been a victim of domestic violence (strangled me until I was unconscious and broke three of my toes) he was charged with criminal damage, like that's unusual? I'm 32
I have had a period every single month since I was 11 years old

My Aibu is this. Am I being fucking unreasonable to think that India willoughby from CBB is taking this piss out of what being a biological female means, because she somehow in her brain thinks she is an actual woman? How? I don't wake up I the morning and think "ooh I feel so womanly, I need lipstick a dress and eye liner"
I wake up and get on with life, regardless if I have a period or not, because that's who I am, not because who I believe I am.
I understand people who can't cope with gender stereotypes, but reducing being a woman to looking pretty and clothing boils my blood

Polarisecaps

People are too consumed with day to day life (who can blame them) it's the sneaky way these laws are trying to get passed that worries me. I don't know maybe I took orwells 1984 or a hand maids tale to heart. I don't think I'm over reacting to what's going on right now. Women deserve equal respect to men. Neither are superior to the other. We need each other to pro create survival of the species and all that. Part of me thinks the trans agender is population control/eugenics, until I realised 80+% of men keep their penis. Not so sure with special needs though and kids. I'm watching. I'd love a time when gender was abolished. You can recognise male or female no matter what they wear. It's instinct

Hang on, how do you know that those two "drag queens" are drag queens? They may be trans or cis women, given India no reason to be afraid! Wink

TheCraicDealer · 08/01/2018 23:53

Been following this thread (not watching CBB but already know and love Courtney) and this was the first post on my fb timeline when I checked it there Grin

So, eight voters? Seven for India? Grin

Boyslikepinkgirlslikeblue · 09/01/2018 00:05

There's no such thing as a cis woman. There's women and people who believe they are women. That's it!

That link someone couldn't do Smile

And the answer is "We lot" may not look at Feminist Chat as it has often been very bruising for the uninitiated. Self defeating, as the engagement with these 2 threads clearly show!

CosmicCanary · 09/01/2018 07:45

Transphobia Hmm is not the reason the public have reacted badly to India.

It is because India is a bully, a victim, boring, self absorbed, nasty, homophobic exhibitionist who forced another contestant in to an impossible postion just for their own validation and to create anger in the general public watching the show.
It back fired.

Ereshkigal · 09/01/2018 08:15

My BF, not a BB fan but knowing my TERFy ways, texted me late last night (he must have been watching +1) to suggest that I watch it as there was a "narcissistic freakout". Unfortunately too late by time I saw the message! I will have to catch up. The damn C5 app doesn't do downloads.

BatShite · 09/01/2018 08:39

So, eight voters? Seven for India? I genuinely think noone will dare vote for her to her face..except maybe Malika. They know there would be a huge freak out about it

Eltonjohnssyrup · 09/01/2018 09:12

I think they may also be scared because they are worried the public will think they're 'transphobes'. I reckon Andrew and Ginuwine will have the guts to vote for her.

Agree about the women except for Malinka. You can see they're falling into their socialised roles and kowtowing to the masculine behaving India.

If an real women behaved like that she'd have been crucified by Noe.

BatShite · 09/01/2018 09:13

Isn't it only the women voting though? Sure I heard that

Eltonjohnssyrup · 09/01/2018 09:15

Ah, I didn't know that. So when the men vote next week she'll be up?

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 09:25

Yep just women this week and Amanda, jess, Shane/Courtney and Maggie are immune.

I reckon they might vote f2f for India. They'll go with "she's just so depressed in here, we think she'd be happier to leave"...

MissionItsPossible · 09/01/2018 09:30

Ann would, Malika would, Rachel would, Maggie might, Amanda might but not sure of any of the others eligible to vote. As India is generating so many headlines I can't imagine C5 would willingly evict without doing some sort of twist to keep her there

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 09:34

C5 are hastily arranging a secret house as we speak... Grin

IsaSchmisa · 09/01/2018 10:01

YY I could see Andrew and Ginuwine voting for India due to her behaviour towards them. Also agree Channel 5 won't want to lose her! Although, I think Shane J is being set up to be the real star of this.

WaggyMama · 09/01/2018 10:18

Malika will vote for India as she got up and walked out of the living room when IW started having a go at Andrew. Especially after having that chat with IW in the store room - she must think 'what's the point, I tried'.

Actually I'm really disappointed in IW. S/He had the opportunity to dispel my opinion that transpeople are delusional, narcissistic, confused, unhappy weirdos. I wanted IW to come on the show confident, level headed and open.

Chipsahoy82 · 09/01/2018 12:08

Andrew wasn’t being nice by pretending that he sees IW as a woman - he’s scared of the public backlash. They all are. IW won’t be confronted about her bullying aggressive ways because none of the housemates know how it will be viewed by the general public. They would imagine some kind of Jade Goody/Shilpa Shetty scenario that would end their careers.

I hope someone (probably Malika) stands up to IW and calls her out for being the bully that she is.

Eltonjohnssyrup · 09/01/2018 12:10

Ann will vote for her. She doesn't care. RJ might worry about backlash on Boris

MsGameandWatching · 09/01/2018 12:12

I think if anyone it will be Malika, she has less to lose. After this she goes back the U.S and carries on being KK's best mate with all the cushioning that gives her. Might be best if Shane did it though, in that reasonable, kindly way he has.

BeyondWW · 09/01/2018 12:29

Post from @KateMumsnet on the CBB thread...

"Hi folks. Glad to see you're all enjoying CBB again this year.

We just wanted to pop by with a bit of a reminder about our rules, as we've had lots of reports about the posts about India Willoughby on this thread.

As you probably know, we're happy to allow the debate about issues relating to transgender to take place on Mumsnet, but as with any debate we ask folks to stick within our Talk Guidelines. This means that we will delete posts that we feel are inflammatory, provocative, amount to goady fuckery or are just plain uncivil or unkind.

We appreciate that there are discussions to be had about biology and the nature of what it is to be a woman, and to that end we allow posts which align with scientific orthodoxy and which that are in the spirit of genuine, civil debate. But we do think that repeatedly referring to someone, in passing, by a pronoun they've rejected is both goady and inflammatory. We're not going to go back now and delete each instance but we wanted to give fair warning - please do bear this in mind from now on.
Cheers all
MNHQ"

CuriousaboutSamphire · 09/01/2018 13:01

Then we all need to do as I do, to avoid both misgendering and pandering... stick to they
