*Could he borrow his granny's private jet and fly in for an appearance on MOTD? As a compromise.

Would love to see him staggering on, slightly pissed, and plonking himself down between Lineker and Shearer, with his tie undone and his corsage looking the worse for wear.*

Please. Lets do this. Grin

PinkJeggings · 15/12/2017 14:52

"In any event he'll still be attending the match of the day" ba da BOOM!

SpiderCid · 15/12/2017 14:53

Honestly I couldnt give a flying F* about the royals but I'd imagine it must be very difficult to find a date that everyone could make that didnt crash with some previous commitment. It was probably decided that that giving out a trophy was the least important commitment and I'm sure whichever wins wont lose any sleep if the trophies handed to them by some other high ranked FA official.

MedicinalGin · 15/12/2017 14:54

pinkjeggings that’s great 😀

Can they not find some other royal person to hand out the trophy? There are plenty of them and they all look kind of similar.

QuiteLikeable · 15/12/2017 14:54

Handing a trophy to someone doesn't come under the heading of either power or responsibilities.

There's a life out there for you OP, go find it!

ShowMePotatoSalad · 15/12/2017 14:54

They could screen it during the wedding reception perhaps? Megs and Harry having their first dance and William sat in the corner telling them to keep "Eternal Flame" down because this second half looks absolutely cracking.

specialsubject · 15/12/2017 14:56

William may not like the old hairdressers kick about and be quite glad of the excuse to skip it.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/12/2017 14:56

If he took the helicopter, he could take granny, hover above Wembley, throw her out onto the pitch like she's done before. HMQ can present the trophy and shake hands with a load of sweaty footballers, while Wills parks the helicopter to pick her up when she's done.

Easy, although he might need to stay off the booze until he gets back to the wedding.

Finola1step · 15/12/2017 14:58

The date for the wedding will be purely based on the availability of all senior royals. I bet Wills is actually slightly peeved that he will miss the FA cup final. But somehow I can't see him.posting on here with an "AIBU to be fucked off to the back teeth with my brother for booking his wedding on the one day of the year I get to play with the FA Cup?"

Flappyears · 15/12/2017 14:59

viviennemary I wouldn’t want the -Daily mail readers- British public to decide whether someone is a suitable partner for me.

What are you basing your scepticism on? The fact that she is older, a divorcee (smelling salts) or AMERICAN. Heavens.

She’s also independent, hard working, a spokeswoman on women’s rights, and on the clean water campaign.

Sounds like a breath of fresh air to me.

Rebeccaslicker · 15/12/2017 14:59

Seriously? Anyone cares about this?

And I thought I had some dull thoughts Grin

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/12/2017 14:59

AIBU from Prince William.

AIBU to watch the FA cup final on my phone under the table during DBs wedding? I normally go to the match but DB has been inconsiderate enough to choose the day of the final to get married.

DW says it's rude and inappropriate and in any case I will be too busy looking after our 3 DCs with her.

Skowvegas · 15/12/2017 14:59

I am also clearly BU to think William has a responsibility to his charities and causes.

Is the FA Cup a charity or a cause?

MissionItsPossible · 15/12/2017 15:00

You're not alone OPGrin

He could be marrying bloody Jeanette Crankie if he wanted - it's nowt to do with anyone.

FizzyGreenWater · 15/12/2017 15:00

I think the wedding should have been on a different day. Or better still not take place at all. It will be a disaster. Sorry but it will

I have no idea why this has cracked me up so much! I think it's the apology at the end. Someone should tell them. Sorry but they should. They're wasting their time. Sad but true. Grin

billybagpuss · 15/12/2017 15:01

I must admit this did make me laugh. I'm sure they'll find someone suitable to present the cup. Or he could nip out from the reception for half an hour!!!

ShowMePotatoSalad · 15/12/2017 15:02

"well don't come crying to me when it all goes tits up. Because it will. Don't say I didn't try".

RB68 · 15/12/2017 15:02

Football just is not important int he scheme of things - who the hell cares who presents a stupid trophy to a bunch of mega millionaires anyway. They certainly don't

ShowMePotatoSalad · 15/12/2017 15:03

Honestly this is the most fun I've had on a thread since reading "my yoni says no(ni)"

ShowMePotatoSalad · 15/12/2017 15:05

mega millionaires

I was going to correct you and say it's a competition for the small teams but Arsenal and Man Utd have been winning it four years on the bounce so I'll just shut my big fat gob.

Redcrayons · 15/12/2017 15:06

Move the wedding to Monday. Wills can go to the footie, we'll all get a bank holiday. Everyone's happy.

Mia1415 · 15/12/2017 15:08

YABVU! The FA Cup happens every year. The fact that he is missing one of them doesn't matter AT ALL! Missing his brothers wedding (a one off event) does matter however.

And why should Harry even consult his brother about his wedding date?!? I'm sure he did btw but that's not the point.

Laiste · 15/12/2017 15:10

The FA cup is not a charity or a 'cause' FGS! He just hands over a cup. 30 seconds out of how long?

All the senior royals will have to have shuffled their diaries about or let something go to attend this do. I imagine handing over a cup to a well paid football team was deemed not too important in the grand scheme of things.

RustyBear · 15/12/2017 15:10

William has been FA President since 2006, just had a quick look on YouTube and have found at least 2 occasions (out of 3 that I checked, yes I’m bored) when the person presenting is not William.
