It's the anniversary of Anne Boleyn's execution. Major date for Tudor history fans and just seemed a bit off at first glance

Aaaaand just when you thought this thread had been as mad as was possible another little gem pops up

😂😂😂

Willow2017 · 15/12/2017 18:43

I think Her Maj and Charles and Camilla's diaries would have priority over anyone else.
Plus if you were one of the people who had an invite to a royal wedding i dont think you would chew over whether to accept or go to a football match for longer than 3 seconds.😀

Lweji · 15/12/2017 18:44

I'm shocked a Tudor fan forgot this date:

1568 English Queen Elizabeth I arrests Mary, Queen of Scots

Any shocked Star Wars fans?
1999 Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, directed by George Lucas, starring Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman and Liam Neeson is released in cinemas

Maybe they wanted to celebrate this:
2015 Historic first handshake between Prince Charles and Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams at the National University of Ireland in Galway

Willow2017 · 15/12/2017 18:49

As much as i like history i dont think we need to worry about Anne Boleyn. Not like its actually a well known date for the majority of people. Shit happened frequently in more violent past times, life was cheap for everyone. I am sure you could find something nasty for almost any day of the year.

Lweji · 15/12/2017 18:53

It could be worse. Imagine if Harry had chosen Wills and Kate's date.

Softkitty2 · 15/12/2017 18:58

And you care because?

Floellabumbags · 15/12/2017 18:59

I can't wait. I'll be able to get round Tesco in record time.

Hope they don't shut the shops like when Saint Diana of our Hearts died because there was nothing on telly that day either and I ran out of fags.

Lweji · 15/12/2017 18:59

Me? Because I'm Kate. Wink

EdithWeston · 15/12/2017 19:13

Love the idea that it's an awful warning to the wife of a younger brother of an heir.

Parallel spoiled as the 'heir' isn't heir apparent yet, and there are 2 soon to be three interlopers between him and his brother. Making the idea of bumping him off to marry the Duchess, then dump her in the countryside and remarry all a bit useless (as well as impossible fit if all in before the Cup Final).

Let's hope no deaths force postponement of either happy event

ivenoideawhatimdoing · 15/12/2017 19:16

I was working the day of my sister's wedding.

I used my annual leave to book the day off?

WIBU because I had prior commitments?

Lweji · 15/12/2017 19:21

Just as long as Harry doesn't try for a Blackadder finale...

SelenaMeyer2016 · 15/12/2017 19:25

Haven’t read the full thread but isn’t this similar to lots of football/wedding dilemmas that happen within families over wedding season?! Surely not a serious concern...

SPNWinchesterGirl · 15/12/2017 19:25

*I'm shocked a Tudor fan forgot this date:

1568 English Queen Elizabeth I arrests Mary, Queen of Scots*

Who said I forgot? Anne Boleyn just stands out more and was the first thing that came to mind seeing the date. But thanks for ASSuming.

Lweji · 15/12/2017 19:34

SPNWinchesterGirl

Did you ASSume I was being serious?

SPNWinchesterGirl · 15/12/2017 19:41

Lweji

Did you?

Farrar · 15/12/2017 19:42

Can you imagine the AIBU from Meghan Markle

“Aibu to think my future brother in law should miss the football on our wedding day”

This. Made. Me. Laugh. So. Very. Much. Possibly. Too. Much. 😂😂

Farrar · 15/12/2017 19:44

You do know that people have to plan weddings when other people have a day at work you know?

Our wedding was on a Friday.. we therefore had to expect people to book a day off, which they did. It's life.

RavenLG · 15/12/2017 20:00

Ffs. How many times to people have to say, between the immediate family there is probably no free day to have the wedding.

OP you do make me laugh.

OP : “AIBU?”
MN: “Yes”
OP : stomps feet and pouts “OH MY GOD I AM SO RIGHT AND YOU’RE ALL WRONG AND IM NOT BU!!!”

IMightMentionGriddlebone · 15/12/2017 20:02

Saying that May 19th shouldn't have been on the table rather assumes that William, Charles, the Queen and other royals would all be completely free and available all the other weekends in May.

I doubt this.

PinkJeggings · 15/12/2017 20:07

@RavenLG Noooo I admitted I was BU! See previous posts! Xmas Grin

Queen who is quite abstemious, probably because of the examples of her mother and sister.

The Queen is a flipping lush. She drinks every day. She has 4 x drinks per day minimum. She has a gin and dubbonet before lunch, wine with lunch, a martini before dinner

Eltonjohnssyrup · 15/12/2017 20:13

Sorry, pressed too soon and also a champagne before bed. And that's on a normal day! On special occasions she has much more. And her mother lived to 102!

PinkJeggings · 15/12/2017 20:13

Oh no it’s not the anniversary of Anne Boleyn's execution as well is it?
