I’m not a royalist.. or otherwise! Was mildly interested in the news and always happy for a bank holiday (which we probably aren’t getting anyway )

But I have followed her for a little bit recently on social media and she seemed to really love her dogs which I always find a lovely trait in a person

So one dog is here, and one dog ‘is with friends’ and was apparently refused access to the uk / was too old to transport... surely when a dog is old is when he needs his owner the most? I’ve lived through that devastating time of losing a dog and they really find comfort in being with their owners. (I think)

They are rescues which she seems to advocate and I think this really sends the wrong message that they are a bit disposable. She is marrying into arguably the most powerful family in the world and she can’t get her dog here?!

I’m sure people will disagree. But just reading that and looking at my 10 year old dog sleeping on my feet, I could never leave him behind.

I'm fairly confident if the alternative was marrying a Prince of the United Kingdom, you'd somehow summon the strength to leave a dog in the care of friends.

I'm sure he will be leading a happy life with friends. The dog that is. Not Harry if she decided not to bother with him because of her dog.

It’s a shame but I’m not sure what else she could do. If they pulled strings to get her dog in the country if it’s against normal rules it would result in uproar. The dog could live several more years and I don’t think she should have to not get married for the foreseeable future because of this.

I don’t know what I’d do. I’m finding it hard to make a move myself because I don’t know what’s best for my cats. I know someone who turned down a job and move from Eastern Europe to the UK because they couldn’t get their dog in. I admire that too!

Perhaps the friend loves the dog also? It's not her fault the dog was refused access to the Uk.

I'm disappointed to hear that, I think less of her now and I was a big fan.

My dog came with me when I moved back to the UK. I wouldn't have moved back without her. I was also able to be with her as she passed out of this world. One of the saddest moments in my life seeing her pass, but I felt it was my responsibility to help her have the best death possible. I don't understand how people can leave their pets when their life moves on or when things get tricky. Just don't understand it at all.

If you had to choose between staying on one continent in order to fulfil your duties to a 10 yr old rescue dog who needed you more than they needed your loving and kind friend, orrrr.... moving continents to be with the love of your life who you are intending to marry (who also happens to be 5th in line to the thrown) you’d honestly stay in America for the sake of the dog’s sensitive feelings?

So do you think there should be special dispensation/private helicopter for her dog? The royals get more than enough special treatment as it is, and Harry’s main strength is that he’s seen as a ‘people’s prince’. It would be a foolish move for the Royal family to try to do something which made it even more obvious they aren’t subject to the same rules as most.

There's no reason whatsoever why she couldn't bring both dogs.

So I expect the decision to leave one behind is based on that dog's welfare. Age wouldn't necessarily be a reason, but health might be as might phobias

Do you have a dh op? They might be a little miffed that you wouldn't choose them over a dog. I certainly would. If your post were more 'I hope her dog is ok and she's not too cut up about it herself, I'm sure it was very hard but obviously she is choosing her fiancé, then i could see where you are coming from. It's a shame and miserable for both Megan and dog I'm sure.

I think it says a lot about her. Posts about a dog being for life... posts about rescueing a dog and giving them a forever home...

Just give up on marrying the man you love, having children and happiness for an elderly dog who you rescued and gave many years of a happy life, and who will spend the rest of its days with a close friend well looked after and cared for. As if.

I expect the dog is with whoever it spent its time with whilst she was away working, doing charity work and travelling back and forth to the UK whilst dating Harry.
