Yes, it’s another Meghan thread... AIBU to think that it’s really disappointing that she left her dog behind?

I’m not a royalist.. or otherwise! Was mildly interested in the news and always happy for a bank holiday (which we probably aren’t getting anyway Hmm)

But I have followed her for a little bit recently on social media and she seemed to really love her dogs which I always find a lovely trait in a person Grin

So one dog is here, and one dog ‘is with friends’ and was apparently refused access to the uk / was too old to transport... surely when a dog is old is when he needs his owner the most? I’ve lived through that devastating time of losing a dog and they really find comfort in being with their owners. (I think)

They are rescues which she seems to advocate and I think this really sends the wrong message that they are a bit disposable. She is marrying into arguably the most powerful family in the world and she can’t get her dog here?! Hmm

I’m sure people will disagree. But just reading that and looking at my 10 year old dog sleeping on my feet, I could never leave him behind.

Beats having it put down or it dying on the way or something.

MakeMisogynyAHateCrime · 28/11/2017 22:00

One of my dogs is an anxiety ridden little thing. He would never survive the journey. He would however love spending his life with people he already knows and loves.

CaptainBrickbeard · 28/11/2017 22:01

I'm sure the dog is very happy and she's left it in good hands!

Nikephorus · 28/11/2017 22:01

I think it sucks.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 28/11/2017 22:01

These things happen, people move abroad. You can't put your life on hold for the sake of a dog

Roussette · 28/11/2017 22:02

What does it say about her?

She's in love, she wants to get married, she has to move to a different country to do so, one of her dogs is too old to come with her.

So awful. She must be horrible Hmm

Areyouready · 28/11/2017 22:02

I'm sure her friends are taking good care of it. It is only a dog.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/11/2017 22:02

I think it sucks too. But then, I don’t think of a dog as ‘just a dog’

And that’s why it’s disappointing. Because she presented herself as the same... that they were so important. She was a massive advocate of ‘a dog is forever’

OP posts:
NotACleverName · 28/11/2017 22:02

It's not as if she's stuck it on Gumtree for any old so-and-so to take Hmm

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/11/2017 22:03

Someone who says ‘it’s only a dog’ clearly will never understand. Or have dogs, hopefully.

Strange thread...

humblesims · 28/11/2017 22:04

The dog is with trusted friends which is perfectly reasonable. I'm sure she would have it here with the other dog if she could. She is doing what is best for the dog. As any dog lover would.

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 28/11/2017 22:04

Why is it a strange thread?! Hmm

Maybe she can Skype the dog? Or take a plane to visit it sometimes?

Of all the things people find to criticise this woman...

TheFairyCaravan · 28/11/2017 22:05

TheFairyCaravan - I take it you’re not an animal lover?

Yes I am and I think she is too. I think she’s made the decision with a heavy heart but how would it have been fair to put an old dog through a long plane journey?

She’s done what is best for her and the dog.

Lweji · 28/11/2017 22:05

Someone who says ‘it’s only a dog’ clearly will never understand. Or have dogs, hopefully.

It's certainly not a child.

Roussette · 28/11/2017 22:05

OP you are being ridiculous. Would you put your life on hold (not marry, not have children) for a dog? If so, you're more bonkers than I first thought because in this particular cae there is no choice.

Circumstances sometimes dictate things. Something tells me she can't do right for doing wrong in your eyes.

You seem to be ignoring the fact, her dog is going to a happy home with friends.

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 28/11/2017 22:05

I wonder if MM knows what she's letting herself in for. A lifetime of scrutiny and judgement over silly things from people who don't know her or her circumstances. Leave the woman alone. She knows the dog and what's best for it. Not some randoms on the Internet

GlacindaTheTroll · 28/11/2017 22:06

"It was refused entry to the uk!"

Was it? On what grounds?

Beamur · 28/11/2017 22:06

Sounds like it wasn't in the dogs best interest to be shipped here, so it's been responsibly homed with people known to the owner.
It's probably upsetting, but not the end of the world for the dog or the owner...

Theresnonamesleft · 28/11/2017 22:06

he could have moved to her.

Lweji · 28/11/2017 22:08

he could have moved to her.

And they could have got married in Mar-a-Lago too.

Roussette · 28/11/2017 22:09

This is probably one of the daftest threads I've read in a while.

And yes I like dogs. But I want to do what is best for a dog which is not subjecting an elderly dog to a long plane journey for selfish reasons.

NataliaOsipova · 28/11/2017 22:10

He’s Harry Windsor not Harry fucking Potter-he can’t just magic up new rules to let her dog in; hardly reflective of the degree to which he prioritises her happiness 🙄

I am now crying with laughter and my DH is giving me some very funny looks....
